Week 3.

WEEK 3 The past weekend has given people a lot to take in, and a lot to think about. You're permitted to stay at the resort all day on Sunday, should you so choose; relax and replenish yourselves with regards to sleep at least, seeing as it's much more comfortable than the routes or sleeping on the floor of the Pokémon Center. Commander Saturn is gone as of last night, and no one seems to be coming after you - though there is likely something you'll be aware of by the end of the day... Whatever happens, it's evident that you'll have to leave this place eventually, and Monday should find everyone back on Route 213. It's been repeatedly recommended to move toward Pastoria City; whether you believe the source of said urging to be trustworthy or not, it's still a good idea to move in that direction - a city means supplies, after all, a place to restock and spend a few days. Everyone should be able to find Pastoria City by Tuesday afternoon; it's another unfamiliar place, with various things to see and look at over the course of the next few days. It's far smaller than Veilstone, but it borders up to the ocean by way of a small jetty on the southeastern side of town with a few boats moored to it. Otherwise, it's surrounded by forest, and the main path winds its way lazily through town, weaving between personal residences and a few places of business. Of course, it's still not nearly as lively as it should be; the inhabitants here all seem as devoid of spirit as everywhere else; fortunately, a select few of your companions do seem to be perking up a bit - perhaps that's a good sign, in the end. [Give him a second to snag a pastry for himself; he'll split it with Roc, but then there's the Scyther... um. Hmm. He'll just push the chairs aside and place the pastry on a plate near the edge of the table so the Scyther can figure it out on his own. Yeah, that works.]

Must've taken you awhile to fix so many. Are you pretty fond of cooking?

I suppose so. It’s been part of my role for quite a long time.

Yeah?

[Look at that, the Scyther managed to eat it somehow. It has blades for arms, how did it manage that??

Anyway, he'll take a seat nearby; he's actually pretty curious about this.]

Sounds like you've got a pretty interesting role. Care to tell me about it?

...I work in service to the kingdom of Lucis.

[True, but as with everyone he was very specific in his wording.]

Is that something you're not supposed to tell people? Where I'm from, people can't stop bragging about their connections to the Empire.

[It's not exactly the same thing, but it's the closest comparison he has.]

I’ve no need of using my status for attention. It’s simply not relevant here, so there’s no reason to speak of it.

Not even if we're curious and want to learn more about you?

My position is nothing of real interest.

And hey, if you ever want help while you're cooking, you can let me know. I won't say I'm the best, but I've had a lot of practice.

I never said ‘boring’.

...But I do appreciate the offer.

Yeah, no problem. I figure it's worth offering, though it seems like there are a lot of us who enjoy cooking.

It's a worthwhile skill to train, or so I've found.

Definitely. I can't imagine how difficult things would be if we didn't have anyone who could cook.

Well, you'd be in a terribly dire situation. Probably have to learn quite quickly.

[fatalstrikes]

Sounds like a pain. Though I guess I wasn't all that good when I left Zaphias and I did have to learn pretty quick. Estelle couldn't cook and Repede definitely couldn't.

[discutio]

If it makes you feel better, none of my friends can cook either. Then again, I suppose they've never had to learn.

[fatalstrikes]

They always relied on you for that, huh?

We usually try to take turns cooking. Estelle's gotten pretty good at it by now.

[gotta level up everyone's cooking skills!!]

[discutio]

They did, yes. Not to say that I minded all that much, but it mightn't have killed Prompto to pick up a whisk once or twice.

[fatalstrikes]

Tell me about your friends, what are they like?

[discutio]

They're...hm. [Ignis paused before speaking--he'd been taken off his guard in answering the same question from Camilla, so he had to be careful.]

I've known Gladio since we were young; you could say we met through work. He's steadfast and reliable, if often a bit quick to anger. He's also the one who taught me how to set up a campsite, though I seriously doubt my proficiency matches his own.

Prompto, I've known for only a slightly shorter time than that. We met through...a mutual friend, quite a long while ago. He's nearly always upbeat and excited; his favorite hobby is photography, and he has a stunning aptitude for it.

[fatalstrikes]

Photography...?

[He's seen Zelda's awesome camera, but he hasn't put the pieces together yet, sorry Ignis.]

They sound like interesting people. It's good to have people you're close to when you're travelling.

[discutio]

Zelda can demonstrate a bit better than I can, if you aren't familiar with the concept.

[What with having a camera and being able to use it.]

...We've known each other a long time. We drifted a bit in the past years, but I think we're back together now for the foreseeable future.

[fatalstrikes]

[He'll definitely ask Zelda about it later.]

That's good. It kinda sucks not being able to see your friends as often as you'd like.

[...i mean he'd get kind of defensive if anyone said this about him and flynn but shh. yuri's bad at this.]

Perhaps it was...a bit lonely on occasion, yes. But we reunited not long before I came here, and I expect they'll be waiting for me.

I'm sure they will be. With any luck, we'll be able to find our way home soon enough.
