Week 3.

WEEK 3

The past weekend has given people a lot to take in, and a lot to think about.

You're permitted to stay at the resort all day on Sunday, should you so choose; relax and replenish yourselves with regards to sleep at least, seeing as it's much more comfortable than the routes or sleeping on the floor of the Pokémon Center. Commander Saturn is gone as of last night, and no one seems to be coming after you - though there is likely something you'll be aware of by the end of the day...

Whatever happens, it's evident that you'll have to leave this place eventually, and Monday should find everyone back on Route 213. It's been repeatedly recommended to move toward Pastoria City; whether you believe the source of said urging to be trustworthy or not, it's still a good idea to move in that direction - a city means supplies, after all, a place to restock and spend a few days.

Everyone should be able to find Pastoria City by Tuesday afternoon; it's another unfamiliar place, with various things to see and look at over the course of the next few days. It's far smaller than Veilstone, but it borders up to the ocean by way of a small jetty on the southeastern side of town with a few boats moored to it. Otherwise, it's surrounded by forest, and the main path winds its way lazily through town, weaving between personal residences and a few places of business.

Of course, it's still not nearly as lively as it should be; the inhabitants here all seem as devoid of spirit as everywhere else; fortunately, a select few of your companions do seem to be perking up a bit - perhaps that's a good sign, in the end.

CURRENT LOCATION: PASTORIA CITY
POKEMON AVAILABLE: IN CITIES / NEAR WATER

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week three of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due this weekend!]

I won't hold back.

[And then Kiryu proceeded to hold back. Handwaving away! He went for the speedy style, focusing on hitting as often as possible, with less focus on strength, with the goal of throwing Yuri to the ground]

[KIRYU.... Well you know what, it's appreciated. The last time he fought without a weapon was awhile ago and he's always been better with a sword or an axe. He's absolutely getting tossed to the ground though, and once he's down he'll just end up laughing.]

Man, you really weren't kidding about being strong! It's been awhile since I had a fight like that!

[Just give him a moment to sit up and shake the sand out of his hair.]

[There's something satisfying about fighting. Even if he ends sore and injured, it's satisfying. Kiryu extends a hand to haul Yuri up]

If you're not too roughed up, I'd be willing to give it a try with swords. I learned how to use katanas and knives, but only the basics.

[He'll take the hand and pull himself up, thanks.]

Yeah? Where I'm from, fighting without a weapon's just asking for trouble. Well, unless you're using magic, I guess. Even then it's best to have something on you just in case.

But yeah, I'd definitely like a rematch. Go find a good stick, I'll be ready once you get back.

[He'll go retrieve his own stick and take a moment to catch his breath.]

[It takes a while for Kiryu to find a stick he's satisfied with. For comfort he went for one close enough to the length of a katana]

I'm ready. Let's make this a good match!

[Kiryu tries his best to be a worthy opponent, and although he's nimble, he's trying not to hit hard -- it'd be embarrassing if the stick breaks! Anyone with more experience in swords and the such would see all the chances there are to strike at him, though. His way of fighting with the stick is leaving him wide open to attacks]

[Yuri's had a lot of practice with other sword-users - his friend Flynn is even better than he is, so looking for an opening is one of the things Yuri does best. Even so, he'll hold back a little on his strikes - the last thing he'd want to do is seriously injure Kiryu. Though it's a stick, so it's not like it's going to do that much damage.]

[Excellent job, Yuri! Kiryu takes hit after hit. Since he's currently on his rush mode, he's not prepared to resist, and the more he's hit the more chances he leaves open. All things considered...it was a rather one-sided match, on Yuri's favor.

After a while he has to surrender]

Damn it...I truly am nothing compared to your swordfighting skills. I'd even be willing to ask you to teach me.

[He'll stop once Kiryu indicates he's done, but Yuri looks really pleased.]

Hey, don't downplay your skills any - you've got a lot of potential! I'm not really much of a teacher, but I guess I could try to show you a few things sometimes. That was fun; thanks for indulging me.

Of course. [Kiryu leans on the stick, somehow it's strong enough to endure his weight] Gotta admit I like fighting. People show what they're made of when they're trying their best to win a fight.

[And it's not like he has a lot of people to spar with...well, he does, but most of them are random hooligans trying to pick a fight with him for no reason]

Yeah, exactly. You can learn a lot about a person from sparring with 'em.

[It's usually just about as fun as fighting the much larger and more dangerous monsters.]
