azume | Week 3.

WEEK 3

The past weekend has given people a lot to take in, and a lot to think about.

You're permitted to stay at the resort all day on Sunday, should you so choose; relax and replenish yourselves with regards to sleep at least, seeing as it's much more comfortable than the routes or sleeping on the floor of the Pokémon Center. Commander Saturn is gone as of last night, and no one seems to be coming after you - though there is likely something you'll be aware of by the end of the day...

Whatever happens, it's evident that you'll have to leave this place eventually, and Monday should find everyone back on Route 213. It's been repeatedly recommended to move toward Pastoria City; whether you believe the source of said urging to be trustworthy or not, it's still a good idea to move in that direction - a city means supplies, after all, a place to restock and spend a few days.

Everyone should be able to find Pastoria City by Tuesday afternoon; it's another unfamiliar place, with various things to see and look at over the course of the next few days. It's far smaller than Veilstone, but it borders up to the ocean by way of a small jetty on the southeastern side of town with a few boats moored to it. Otherwise, it's surrounded by forest, and the main path winds its way lazily through town, weaving between personal residences and a few places of business.

Of course, it's still not nearly as lively as it should be; the inhabitants here all seem as devoid of spirit as everywhere else; fortunately, a select few of your companions do seem to be perking up a bit - perhaps that's a good sign, in the end.

[Camilla does at least smile softly at that, taking a seat--not too close, but not too far away either.]

I take it it's troubling you quite a bit, then?

To be honest, a lot of things as troubling me. It's nothing new.

But I'll be fine; at least we're getting a move-on soon.

Ah, I take it that you far prefer being in a city compared to the likes of this? Or is it simply this location itself?

[She. She kind of gets it either way, man, and there's definitely no judgement from her; she's pretty sure they're all looking forward to leaving this damn place behind very soon.]

It's the situation more than the location; but I prefer being outdoors, to be honest. I get twitchy indoors.

[He offers a gentle look, though it's not a smile.]

It'll be better once we're on the road.

Ah, so you really are more of an outdoors person.

[...That's the takeaway she gets from it, but it isn't meant to be demeaning, at least.]

I suppose I can understand that much; there's a lot more to see and do than in some stuffy building, most of the time.

It's also easier to get away in a hurry.

[That is such a paranoid statement he actually winces.]

I've lived in a farmstead the last couple of years; just me, my hut, and my goats.

[...If she has an adverse reaction at all, it definitely doesn't show. Hell, honestly, it seems like she agrees with him.

Though, the living situation gets a bit of an eyebrow raised.]

You raise goats? I've heard that they can be rather stubborn animals, when push comes to shove. I trust that you've had to fix your fences quite a bit?

Yeah. They're stubborn animals that don't like change much, but they're friendly and playful if they like you.

I was told they'd be good animals for me; there's always things to do for them and their enclosure, so it keeps me busy.

[He sounds pretty happy about this, to be honest.]

[Oh, that's...actually kind of nice to hear. Camilla seems to smile just a bit when he talks about them, honestly.]

I'm afraid I've little experience with such animals outside of my personal wyvern; we usually have servants around the castle who take care of most of their needs and entertainment while we take care of business around the castle. All I've heard is word of mouth from them, on occasion, and most of their words haven't exactly been pleasant.

I must admit, it's wonderful to hear that they've given you something to do.

[It brings him joy, it seems.]

[She has a dragon?? Holy shit. His eyes get big for a moment before he talks about goats. Because he knows goats.

Dragons are real somewhere, holy shit.]

I like it. I have no need to keep on fighting; I like the quiet life.

[Camilla...pauses a bit at that, honestly, though a smile doesn't leave her face. It definitely makes her a touch contemplative.]

Doesn't anyone? Peace is truly what helps people and animals alike flourish. I look forward to the day I may be able to say the same thing.

I've met me fair share of people who thrive when there isn't peace.

But in general, I agree.

[...she kind of gets it, she's one of those herself.]

I've served with plenty of those myself. In truth, Nohr's army seems to be made of those sorts. For some, it's all they seem to know.

My best friend is one of those. I honestly don't think he'd know what to do with himself if he didn't have a conflict to solve.
