Week 3.

WEEK 3 The past weekend has given people a lot to take in, and a lot to think about. You're permitted to stay at the resort all day on Sunday, should you so choose; relax and replenish yourselves with regards to sleep at least, seeing as it's much more comfortable than the routes or sleeping on the floor of the Pokémon Center. Commander Saturn is gone as of last night, and no one seems to be coming after you - though there is likely something you'll be aware of by the end of the day... Whatever happens, it's evident that you'll have to leave this place eventually, and Monday should find everyone back on Route 213. It's been repeatedly recommended to move toward Pastoria City; whether you believe the source of said urging to be trustworthy or not, it's still a good idea to move in that direction - a city means supplies, after all, a place to restock and spend a few days. Everyone should be able to find Pastoria City by Tuesday afternoon; it's another unfamiliar place, with various things to see and look at over the course of the next few days. It's far smaller than Veilstone, but it borders up to the ocean by way of a small jetty on the southeastern side of town with a few boats moored to it. Otherwise, it's surrounded by forest, and the main path winds its way lazily through town, weaving between personal residences and a few places of business. Of course, it's still not nearly as lively as it should be; the inhabitants here all seem as devoid of spirit as everywhere else; fortunately, a select few of your companions do seem to be perking up a bit - perhaps that's a good sign, in the end. I think they are in some countries. That's less true in my hometown, however, and obviously holds no stock where you're from. If you found a recipe, I'd be willing to try my hand making it sometime.

I can bake, though I've never made something so elaborate.

[ ... Shrug. ]

That's to be expected, of a princess. Honestly, that's better than I would've expected given Saber's level of expertise.

[That's more of a joke than a criticism. Saber might help clean the fruits and vegetables once in a while, but she's never really gotten the hang of cooking. Rin shakes her head.]

But you said you travelled a lot before all of this, I thought. Did you whisk away a chef with you when you left to handle the cooking?

Oh not at all! ... It is true Link liked to cook for than myself, but if I were asked to make a stew or a roast, to combine anything found in the wilds, I might manage it well. Where I falter is more refined, practiced dishes.

[ . . . If that makes sense. ]

[No, that makes perfect sense.]

Sometimes you just want something that's easy to make and will hold you over. [Rin nods along understandingly.] Plus, it's difficult to be picky when you're out in the wild.

[...as we've proven, with our days walking here from Veilstone.]

I do not mean to boast, but if asked to work with mushrooms, I can work wonders.

[ ... that was totally a boast. ]

Is that so? [Hmm.] Maybe I should propose a trade.

[hyruglyphics]

What trade would you propose?

[ Not that she's... saying no... ]

[heritrix]

In exchange for some mushroom dishes as we travel [and having to cook less often for herself] I'll see what I can do about learning to make a fruit cake, and treat you to Chinese cooking when we stop in towns like this until I manage to figure it out.

It's a pretty good deal, if I say so myself. We'll both get something out of it, and you even have a placeholder offer until I can properly make good on my end of the deal.

Oh, I would find that quite agreeable! Honestly, I have been making somewhat more than I need before now in case my Lickitung requires additional food or if ... [ Kayneth... ] One of the others has not prepared something, I can help them. It would be quite simple, and I would be glad to help you!

[heritrix]

Great! Consider it done, in that case.

[Rin offers her hand to shake, but squints one eye shut with a laugh.]

Or maybe I should say "starting tomorrow". It's only the afternoon, but I'm wiped... I've never cooked for so many people before.

Oh goddess, no, I wouldn't dream of demanding more than this!

[ Even so.

She takes the hand to shake it, ]

[A shake it is! And huh, is that so?]

You'll get no complaint from me. Though I might advise you to brush up on stronger trade negotiation tactics, when it comes time for you to take the throne.

This was an agreement between friends, not a negotiation.

[ Even if she did strike the deal.

But with the shake done, she's totally going to collect some more of this food man because damn. ]

Fair enough. If I'm going to keep cooking for you though, help yourself to as much as you like for now. When you're done, you'll have to tell me which ones were your favorites.

I will be certain to! And once I am done here I shall try the desserts, of course!

Okay no, she won't be eating everything forever.
