Week 3.

WEEK 3 The past weekend has given people a lot to take in, and a lot to think about. You're permitted to stay at the resort all day on Sunday, should you so choose; relax and replenish yourselves with regards to sleep at least, seeing as it's much more comfortable than the routes or sleeping on the floor of the Pokémon Center. Commander Saturn is gone as of last night, and no one seems to be coming after you - though there is likely something you'll be aware of by the end of the day... Whatever happens, it's evident that you'll have to leave this place eventually, and Monday should find everyone back on Route 213. It's been repeatedly recommended to move toward Pastoria City; whether you believe the source of said urging to be trustworthy or not, it's still a good idea to move in that direction - a city means supplies, after all, a place to restock and spend a few days. Everyone should be able to find Pastoria City by Tuesday afternoon; it's another unfamiliar place, with various things to see and look at over the course of the next few days. It's far smaller than Veilstone, but it borders up to the ocean by way of a small jetty on the southeastern side of town with a few boats moored to it. Otherwise, it's surrounded by forest, and the main path winds its way lazily through town, weaving between personal residences and a few places of business. Of course, it's still not nearly as lively as it should be; the inhabitants here all seem as devoid of spirit as everywhere else; fortunately, a select few of your companions do seem to be perking up a bit - perhaps that's a good sign, in the end. [Sa—? That was a weird slip of the tongue. It doesn't even sound like what Zelda corrected herself to. Rin tilts her head curiously at that, but keeps up with the conversation as the princess goes on.]

Then what would it be instead? Licking seems "normal" for just about any creature, not just pokemon. It's weird to think it'd be categorized as something else.

[She hums, then paces over to the nearest well.] Still, it's a fun topic. How did the ghost pokemon react?

I would think so as well, but that was not the case! Though curiously, the wrapping attack she can do with her tongue was utterly ineffective, they could not be contained. But when licked directly, the attack connected, and actually seemed to hurt them quite a bit.

[ She taps her finger against the other hand ] Before now, I have noticed that I believe that her tongue has some paralytic agent to it...? Or maybe just the saliva - that when smeared on directly, it can sometimes slow down or paralyze other Pokemon. I suspect, therefore, that is a particular attack unique from other actions she can do with her tongue.

[ As weird as that sounds. ]

[Ehehe.]

I wish I had known that before I let her drool all over me, the other night. [Though thinking on that...] Do you suppose humans are immune? Or maybe it would only effect them with a greater concentration...

[hyruglyphics]

I've felt some numbness in my fingers, but nothing as dramatic as I've seen in other Pokemon... so yes, I believe that's quite possible.

[ Still, she does giggle at the memory of Rin being drooled on. Heeeeh. ]

[Rin wonders if the same thing applies to poison... She's not been stung by Abbey even once, thankfully, but it's worthy of consideration. Though on that subject, she can't help but recall how the two of them met.

Hm...]

Have you ever had your two pokemon practice against each other?

[hyruglyphics]

Oh, no, I haven't.

[ Err- ]

Once or twice, just to confirm some things. It was one of the ways I managed to verify Monkey was a fighting type.

[Since as such, he'd be weak to flying. But with that in mind, she gets her to a point.]

I was thinking you could so the same with Miphanus and your other little one.

[hyruglyphics]

I... could, yes.

[ Lickitung isn't that little but she looks unsure as he gets the balls for both back from the Pokemon center lady, looking at them both. Huh. ]

... I suppose it would be quite efficient.

[heritrix]

[She mostly meant it ironically.]

You look a little unsure. [Rin tucks a foot behind her ankle, fingers laced behind her back.] If it bothers you, you don't have to of course. It was just a suggestion.

Forgive me, I'm sure they would be more willing than me. To me, the whole... battling thing is still so new. I suppose the other champions would spar and compete sometimes.

[ Revali sure as hell would. ]

[heritrix]

I assume those are the great warriors of your world? [Rin nods to herself, turning sideways to punch the air playfully.] You can bet on it.

Even putting aside no one becomes so mighty without practice, the strongest warriors fight for fun.

[hyruglyphics]

They are - were! Four great champions representing various tribes of Hyrule! [ The strongest fight for fun, she giggles at the though, recalling, ] Revali was quite fond of showing his archery skill...

[heritrix]

[Another archer, huh.]

I don't know what it is about that sport, for that personality to be so inherent to it. Even mild-mannered archers will flaunt a little.

[She looks away as she says that, but she's smiling.] What were the other three's specialties? Or were they all archers?

[ On fear of light contradiction of Rin knowing who Miphanus is named after later... ]

Champion Mipha was a master of the spear, and Daruk used the goron style of swordsmanship. Urbosa was killed with both bow and sword.

[heritrix]

[It's cool, we can keep these timelines straight, since Rin doesn't know much about Mipha beyond her fighting style. 8|a Also assuming you meant "skilled" there:]

In the legends of my world, those are all particularly skilled weapons. People associate them with knights, and noble warriors. If those four ever sparred with one another, it must have made quite the sight.

[She can't help but notice the past tense Zelda refers to them with, of course.]

[ . . . Mmm. She frowns and... nods. But as she talks, her smile grows softer ]

Daruk liked contests like that. Urbosa as well, though she would not be the one to start them, unlike Daruk or Revali. But to watch any one of them could be truly impressive. Revali I once saw hit three targets with bomb arrows at the same time.

[heritrix]

Oh, so he actually used arrows...

[hyruglyphics]

... Yes? He excelled in the use of bomb arrows, but...

[heritrix]

Sorry! That was a bad joke, on my part.

[Rin waves a hand to-and-fro.]

But bomb arrows, huh? That's pretty amazing!

[hyruglyphics]

[ she doesn't get it... but she nods ]

It was! Particularly in that he followed the Rito style of archery. It sometimes seemed as if time slowed ash e fired from midair.

[heritrix]

Mid-air...? [She tries to follow that line of thought.] Are the Rito a species capable of flying?

[hyruglyphics]

Oh yes! The Rito are a people of the air, and their arms double as their wings. Their archery style is therefore quite complex - the bow is tossed between their legs and arms, and fired while descending from the heights they reach before drafting up again.

[heritrix]

[Whoa, so they're bird people. That's kind of amazing?]

I've seen impressive feats before, but that's incredible dexterity. Especially if you factor in any drafts and wind resistance you could expect, from that altitude.

It truly is. Revali himself has developed his own technique he calls "Revali's Gale," which allows him to explore a tremendous updraft and gain a great deal of lift.

[heritrix]

[Thinking about it causes a dreamy smile to cross Rin's face.]
