WEEK 4 Backtracking may not seem like an ideal situation, especially not given the situation on Sunday morning, but it isn't without reason or merit; after all, Lake Valor is within a reasonable distance, and perhaps more importantly, there's reason to believe that something may be there. Whether it's one of the Guardians you seek or something else entirely has yet to be seen; there's only one way to know for sure, however. So back onto Route 213 it is; you should reach Route 214 by Tuesday afternoon, and the entrance to Lake Valor by Thursday night; you may want to wait to explore the lakefront proper during the morning, however. Who knows what you may run into... You've seen at least some reasons to not give up hope as you left Pastoria; for the time being, let that hope give you strength. [Chelsea, for her part, is sifting through the sand carefully with a stick.]

[He looks in her direction, not smiling, but at least his expression isn't dark.]

We've lost four people from our original number. I'd look for them, but they seem to have just... disappeared. Like they never existed in the first place.

Yeah. And the weirdest thing is, remember how they were acting last? Kinda avoiding everyone.

[semistableman]

[He nods.]

It's strange. I don't have any explanation for what could cause them to act like that; it didn't seem like any of them were acting like most of the people we've met.

[niceoppai]

Alice and that girl last week seemed a little tired before they disappeared. Not brainwashed and emotionless tired like the people here, but sorta fading. And these two, too.

[semistableman]

Yeah.

[He sighs.]

I'm not sure there's any way for us to know what happened. It's not like there's anything we can do about it.

[niceoppai]

Yeah, and it's awful. We're gonna have to keep watch for if someone's suddenly not saying or doing anything for a while.

[semistableman]

Even if we do notice anyone acting like that, it seems like the entire world forgets their existence entirely.

[He sighs.]

No matter how you look at it, it's not in our favor.

[niceoppai]

But -- but if we see the warning signs, we can stop it, can't we? Pull them out of their funk!

[semistableman]

[...Right. He's trying not to be so negative.]

Maybe. It's probably worth a shot, if anyone else starts acting funny.

[niceoppai]

Yeah, it's not like it could make it worse, anyway.

[semistableman]

Who knows, it might just help someone out.

[niceoppai]

Yeah! It's just so sad to not be able to do anything, so it's better to at least try!

[semistableman]

We just need to be lucky enough to catch it early on.

Then just start making sure they're okay and talking to them? Hopefully. I dunno, it's scaring me, but it's good to at least try.

[semistableman]

Yeah.

Whatever happens hits them fast; so we'd need to be quick.

[niceoppai]

I wonder where they go. Back home where they came from?

[semistableman]

That's the best-case scenario.

[But it's clear he doesn't believe that's what happened.]

But probably not, huh... It's so sad! We might not ever find out! That's it, I'm going to make sure to watch everyone!

It's worth looking into, at least. Sticking together is important.
