[ So like, that was all something, right? A confrontation with the souls of the damned, and then a battle with a former gym leader, and finally, a meeting with a god. Even as they plan to leave, the sky is dark with storm clouds. The day seems to conspire to create barriers for the group. But even so, to many it may seem as if the evening is a hopeful one.

One of the lake guardians has been restored and the group has completed - after a month - the initial task that Cynthia gave them. They found one of the gym leaders, and learned there were those who fought for this world (even if they did lose) and still can be broken free from the control. All in all, it's mixed, but the mood isn't necessarily unpleasant, despite the rolls of thunder overhead.

However, said rain and thunder does mean it ends up seeming more sound to camp here in the cave. It's not necessarily comfortable, but there are those those who can pitch a tent or two and others who can make fires. Some people might have food provisions, or are able to make more for the group with their existing supplies or forage.

Though that said, the most remarkable thing of the night is obviously going to be that strange pulse of ... something which comes over everyone. And then, of course, the sounds of these eggs hatching . . . ]

Yeah... [She draws back into herself and pokes the ground with a stick.] Y'know, if we were stronger, maybe we could make more people listen... but that's an awful way to think about it, huh?

Perhaps it's a dangerous line of thought, yes. But the intent makes sense enough, and I think we'll need to do the same for others as we did for Maylene today.

You're right about that. I guess I was just thinking about May.

...I'm not sure what you mean. I'm sure Maylene will be able to take care of herself from here.

[Chelsea takes a deep breath and shakes her head.]

Anyway, no use obsessing over it, right? We had another victory! Sort of. We just gotta ride out this storm and then check out the next city.

Hope so. Good as anyone else. I just have a lot to think about. Sounds like you do, too.

I..suppose so, yes. It's been an eventful day, to say the least.

Uh-huh. Maybe it'll get better with some rest. I'm still not used to the whole god thing.

Have you never met any, where you're from?

We have kind of the hands-off, no-one's-even-sure-God-exists kind.

That sounds like a strange world to live in. Ours had slept for many ages until fairly recently, but there was never any real doubt they existed.

That to me sounds like the strange one, but I guess there aren't as many disagreements about religion.

[discutio]

No, there isn't very much to disagree about at all.

Less complicated, but more... immediately concerning?

Perhaps. At least one was very displeased upon having been awoken, so 'immediately concerning' isn't a bad way to put it.

Wait, gods sleep, too?

In a sense. Ours had been asleep for some long ages--two thousand years or so, from my research.

I kinda thought they'd be beyond that. Y'know, so they could always be doing god things.

It's more to the tune of 'acting when the world at large is in peril', really. The age before they fell into slumber ended with a cataclysmic war between them, and those who remained slept to leave humanity to carry on until such time that the remnants of that war could be fully eradicated.

Huh... Sounds like your world's had a lot to deal with.

More than some of you, by the sound of it.

We've had wars and stuff, even awful ones. Crime's everywhere, almost everyone in power turned out to be corrupt. So I'm not saying you're the worst off or it's a competition or anything.

No, I wasn't implying anything of the sort. I'm sure things like that exist everywhere, even without the forces of the divine complicating matters.
