Eggterparty
[ So like, that was all something, right? A confrontation with the souls of the damned, and then a battle with a former gym leader, and finally, a meeting with a god. Even as they plan to leave, the sky is dark with storm clouds. The day seems to conspire to create barriers for the group. But even so, to many it may seem as if the evening is a hopeful one.
One of the lake guardians has been restored and the group has completed - after a month - the initial task that Cynthia gave them. They found one of the gym leaders, and learned there were those who fought for this world (even if they did lose) and still can be broken free from the control. All in all, it's mixed, but the mood isn't necessarily unpleasant, despite the rolls of thunder overhead.
However, said rain and thunder does mean it ends up seeming more sound to camp here in the cave. It's not necessarily comfortable, but there are those those who can pitch a tent or two and others who can make fires. Some people might have food provisions, or are able to make more for the group with their existing supplies or forage.
Though that said, the most remarkable thing of the night is obviously going to be that strange pulse of ... something which comes over everyone. And then, of course, the sounds of these eggs hatching . . . ]

Yeah? It's pretty cute to name 'em after someone dear to you. How'd the two of you meet?

[Camilla chuckles a bit, but she recalls the story very easily.]
She had been contracted to kill me, at the time. I don't believe I've ever seen someone's face so determined, yet so blank in my life...she kept repeating "I can't return until you're dead", as if she were a doll with a broken wind-up mechanism. Despite my warnings that she shouldn't try it, she kept saying it over, and over, and over...
[Camilla recalls this fondly, though, with a bit of an idle smile on her face.
You know. As you do.]
I simply couldn't stand to watch her destroy herself so. I hired her on the spot, and she took her new position without an ounce of hesitation. Ever since then, she's served as my darling, loyal retainer, whom I can always count on to get any mission I ask of her completed. Without fail. She's always reliable, and I couldn't ask for anyone better.
[...this is a completely sane story, totally]

Well, that's certainly an interesting story. Why was she trying to kill you? I'm guessing she hasn't tried it again...?
[Please tell him she hasn't tried again, oh my god.]

[Camilla doesn't seem perturbed either way. She fixed Beruka's problem, as far as she knows, and now she doesn't have to worry about it!]
Oh, gods, no. She wouldn't dare to, believe me.
[Camilla trusts her, for better or for worse.]

[Camilla's so going to get stabbed in the back someday...]
Sounds like you're pretty fond of her.

I am. Exceedingly so; I don't know what I would do if something happened to her. She's stuck by me for so long...through every mission and every decision, right...
[...
Oh. Camilla has to stop herself short there, the realization of what she was about to say dawning on her and causing her eyes to widen. That's right, their last mission was a failure, wasn't it? She doesn't know what the hell is happening to them right now, if Corrin had done them in...
So she winds up cutting herself off there, shaking her head quickly.]
...She has simply stood by me, even longer than Selena has. I would kill the cretin that would dare even think to harm a hair on their heads, without hesitation.
no subject
I don't doubt that at all. Who's Selena, though?
no subject
[at least this one didn't try to kill her???]
no subject
What's she like? Is she also pretty stoic, like Beruka?
no subject
[She is like the polar opposite of Beruka, dear god.]
Oh, she's so fiery...but I think that's what makes her the cutest thing I've ever seen. She always wants to know if she's the absolute best, between herself and Beruka. It certainly makes her a very motivated sort who follows her orders well. I know that if I put her on a task, she'll see it through. Even more so if I put both her and Beruka on it.
