Week 6.

WEEK 6

One thing is going to be made abundantly clear this week: the routes you're traveling are cold.

Through Monday night, you'll likely find it best to skirt around the foot of that massive mountain that lies immediately to the east of Eterna City; it looks treacherous, and while some of you may be up to the trip, it's probably best to not waste your energy before you get anywhere near Lake Acuity. The journey is going to be a long one before you get there, but the first few days will see you making good time, actually. Between that and the noticeable changes to the world, maybe it won't be so bad...?

...Or not. Tuesday morning and beyond is where the hell sets in for those of you that aren't used to or don't like the cold. The routes are full of perpetual snowfall; it isn't heavy, given the time of year, but the fact of the matter is that it's still coming down, and the snow is piled up directly on the route clear up to the average person's waist. It makes traveling slow going, though if you have a fire-type it might be feasible to clear a bit more of a path - be careful with that, though, because all the runoff has to go somewhere, and it's possible that you'll just make the path icy in the end. Either way, it's cold, due to the snowfall you're going to be wet, and traveling is going to be very, very slow; here's hoping whatever's at that lake is worth it, in the end.

...Wherever the lake may actually happen to lie; no matter where you look on the way to Snowpoint City, you won't find an entrance to it...

[ And Miphanus beeps too and she glances at the Beldum who in turn glances at her... ]

Yeah, definitely! So, uh...you guys probably work great together.

[He laughs a little awkwardly at that.]

So I don't think you need to worry about this move problem...the way you two are, you'd definitely find an answer someday.

[ ahah. But yeah, looking at the others... considering some of the others... ]

I do think most of the ones we awoke with are suited to us, though.

Yeah, which is...kinda weird, isn't it?

[Sena can't help but wonder.]

I mean...even if our Pokemon's personalities mesh well with ours, how is that supposed to help when they wanted us all emotionless in the first place...?

[ It is weird, but she does form a few theories immediately. The first is that if Saturn wanted her and Rey, it's clear that their skills, at least, carried over...? But then, that doesn't apply to their personalities and Pokemon were even more blank...? So that makes ... hmm.

Well, one other possibility is, ]

There could be internal decent in Team Galactic...? Or I suppose it depends where and how these ones came from.

Dissent...?

[You're confusing him again, Zelda.]

You mean...there might be people inside Team Galactic who don't like what's going on...?

[He can't help but think of Saturn. The moment where he confessed that he didn't expect what had happened to what must have been a treasured partner. He hadn't known.]

You think...there might be people who felt...betrayed...?

It is only a theory.

[ She confesses that immediately, stepping back from the Pokemon as she begins to thoughtfully walk through the low settled snow. Hopefully this isn't too boring for Monta to want to run ahead... ]

The question at hand is how we ended up with these Pokemon on us when we awoke... and so when and how we got them. There are a great many potent coincidences piled on top of each other in relation to them: their personalities are compatible with our own, many of them are from regions foreign to Sinnoh, and they had seemed to regain their spirit at a rate faster than anything else in the world other than ourselves. Putting these together... unless there is a greater gap period in our memories in which we befriended them before our spirit was taken, they would have to be assigned to us.

So if they were assigned, and the spirit was drained at the time.... how then do their personalities suit us so much?

[Well, they're moving, so Monta is satisfied. For now. He won't use Flame Wheel just yet and stick with Ember for now, but if you guys really can't keep up he's gonna use the more powerful fire type move to blast a path through.]

If it was just one or two of us, it'd be a coincidence, but...

[Everyone has a Pokemon that suits them to some degree.]

Maybe they regained their personality faster because they've been with us longer? Or because they got hit with the thing that woke us up but it didn't affect them as quickly?

[Still. That doesn't explain all of it, does it?]

Still...I can't think of anything else. [Umm...] Maybe if we knew what our designations were supposed to mean or something? [Didn't you say you had the same letter as Maylene, Zelda?]

[ She allows Sena the time to ponder through that, but as he finishes... she huffs and, ]

I've wondered about those as well. Maylene had the same letter as me, but I didn't get to ask about it... and then we know both Rey and myself were assigned under Saturn, but we don't have the same letter.

[ Mmm. ] But could those really account for the personalities of the Pokemon...? I do believe you're right that the flash of light would explain their awakening, but...

I dunno...how'd you find out you were assigned under Saturn, anyway?

[Sena shrugs a little.]

We use lots of codes and signs when we play football...sometimes one small signal or picture means an entire complicated tactic. If something simple like that can communicate so much information, maybe our designations have something hidden in them too, right? I mean...they had to sort us out for a reason, even if they wanted us to all be essentially the same...

He said so himself. That Rey and I were his, Kayneth was Mars's, and Camilla as Jupiter's... I do not recall if he mentioned any of the others, though.

[ Mmm. ]

... But yes, there must be some meaning to it.

Yeah...now that I think about it, we really don't know much about anything in this world, do we...

[It's a sobering thought, and not one Sena wants to have while they're in the middle of snowy terrain. It just makes things feel...lonely.]

Next time we run into Team Galactic...I wonder if we can figure it out...

[There's so many things he wants to know.]

Or we can just find that library Cynthia mentioned.

[ She huffs, and pulls her scarf further about herself! ... We're walking though, behind Monta's embers. Huh, the ground is a little uneven here, she has to slow... ]

Aha...that's true, too...which city was it in aga-haaaaii-!

[Sena wasn't paying attention to the ground slowly changing beneath their feet, and stumbles over one of the crags in front of them. His hands flail in the air, and he skitters a few feet forward, habitually falling into his high speed dash in order to keep from faceplanting on the rocky ground. It works, but he accidentally darted quite a few feet away to do that...]

-aha, ha...oh...oops...

[ Hopefully he doesn't run into a snow bank or Monta's flames??? But either way, she gasps and- ]

Sena?! Are you alright?!

[ Uuuuhh??? ]

[Somehow, he didn't. Mostly because of that eccentric zig-zag pattern he's always running in, it seems to have that kind of purpose, anyway.]

Aha...I think so, yeah.

[Oops.]

S-sorry for worrying you...

No, no, as long as you're alright!

[ Because, as she herself tries to pick up the pace to catch up she sees off to one side there's a large pile of boulders. Man, that would have sucked if he slammed into those! And she looks to see if Monta's okay too but either way, her and Miphanus are relieved! ]

[Monta actually darted a ways ahead as soon as Sena started to trip! It seems like some aspect of the reactive training paid off, because he immediately switched to the far more powerful Flame Wheel to get moving, and managed to stop himself once there's enough leeway for Sena to stumble.

The unintentional show of cooperation is honestly surprising, but neither Monta or Sena notice it, instead trying to brush themselves off.]

I'm fine, I think...haaah...

[Finally, he loosens up.] Lucky...

[ A nod, and she reaches a hand out to... pat his shoulder. ]

You really were! I know all of you rush so, but that can be dangerous in terrain like this!

Hah, you're right...

[He sighs.]

I've been trying to take it slowly anyways, since we don't know what's under the snow...Monta just really enjoys going on ahead, though.

[ Should she scold Monta...

No, probably not her place? She she just nods and gets into step with Sena and the others a bit better now, brushing her hand again before, ]

Please be careful, in any case.

[Sena's starting to think the only way Monta will learn is if he experiences issues himself, so he's just going along with the convenient paths the monkey's making for them.]

Yeah...I'll do my best, promise.

I am certain you will.

[ SHE HOPES!!!

Oh well though, let's just keep up the march. ]
