Week 6.

WEEK 6 One thing is going to be made abundantly clear this week: the routes you're traveling are cold. Through Monday night, you'll likely find it best to skirt around the foot of that massive mountain that lies immediately to the east of Eterna City; it looks treacherous, and while some of you may be up to the trip, it's probably best to not waste your energy before you get anywhere near Lake Acuity. The journey is going to be a long one before you get there, but the first few days will see you making good time, actually. Between that and the noticeable changes to the world, maybe it won't be so bad...? ...Or not. Tuesday morning and beyond is where the hell sets in for those of you that aren't used to or don't like the cold. The routes are full of perpetual snowfall; it isn't heavy, given the time of year, but the fact of the matter is that it's still coming down, and the snow is piled up directly on the route clear up to the average person's waist. It makes traveling slow going, though if you have a fire-type it might be feasible to clear a bit more of a path - be careful with that, though, because all the runoff has to go somewhere, and it's possible that you'll just make the path icy in the end. Either way, it's cold, due to the snowfall you're going to be wet, and traveling is going to be very, very slow; here's hoping whatever's at that lake is worth it, in the end. ...Wherever the lake may actually happen to lie; no matter where you look on the way to Snowpoint City, you won't find an entrance to it... [So it's Friday, and despite traveling around in the snow here, it doesn't seem like anyone has been able to find the lake yet, or reach the city. Thankfully, Ari is used to traveling in snowy weather, what with having had to travel through Pospos Snowfield to find Linda back in his world once before. Even so, Ari needs a break now, and he decides a rock made of ice is a good spot for it. Once he does, he looks to the Eevee that has been following him: the only Pokemon that he has still not captured properly into a poke'ball, and is thus the one that has hiked the route with Ari so far while he kept the others from dealing with the cold. At least Eevee has fur, right?]

... Here. Come sit with me.

[He gestures for the Eevee to sit: she can take the rock if she wants, he doesn't mind sitting in the snow if he has to. After a moment of staring, the Eevee comes forth, and makes to hop up onto the rock...

... Except, the moment that Eevee comes in contact with the rock, Ari's Pokemon suddenly starts glowing brightly, causing Ari to stumble back in shock. Once the light clears... ta-da, who's that Pokemon that Marlene has become now? It's Glaceon, a Pokemon that is now much more comfortable with the ice and snow as it sits here, queen of the ice rock. It's a long moment before Ari is able to speak.]

Um... congratulations?

[Is that the appropriate thing to say here? Is this what it's like to have one of your Pokemon evolve?

Later, when it comes time to stop and eat, Ari finds himself watching other people eat and prepare things for a long while before he suddenly asks--]

Do you think someone could learn about cooking here?

[He kind of feels bad that he has not once helped with food preparation or cooking anything for the rest of the group here.]

I don't see why not. It's all about who teaches you.

[You're not the only one who has been interested about learning cooking, it seems]

Ignis. [He says that without hesitation] He taught me how to make vegetable curry, with his guidance it turned out great.

You can rely on him to teach you.

Vuh-vee?!

[Yep, Sena's own Eevee sure saw that happening. Two evolution confusions in one week? This is too much.

Sena saw it too, and he can't help but think about something he talked about with Zelda before.]

Th...that's...an evolution?

I think so?

[This is the first time one of his own evolved and he got to see it happening...]

It's a lot to take in.

Yeah, it is...

[He looks fondly over at Monta, the Monferno still getting used to his new body. Vee still looks plenty confused, though.]

That musta been...one of the locations Zelda told me about...

[ Ventus is going to be clapping over here. He doesn't think he's seen an evolution up close like that before. Not yet, anyway...that he can recall. ]

Is this the first one of yours that's done that?

[ Evolved, he means. Glaceon looks so... cool (hah). ]

Yeah, it is. I wasn't expecting it.

[But Ari is proud, that's for certain.]

Well you know what they say...the best good things are ones that come when you least expect it!

[ ... ]

Also it looks really cool now. I bet your partner can dish out pretty good in a snowball fight.

[ so that happened. wow. keith's nearby and he can't help but notice the glowing light, and he watches as eevee turns into...that blue fox looking thing. ]

That's an evolution?

[ first time he's seen one, actually! ] Just from touching that rock?

Seems that way.

[Ari reaches out and touches the rock that Marlene is still perched upon.]

I wonder what other Pokémon would do the same if it came in contact with it...

Investigation-ish

[ So the party has been walking in the snow and wilderness this whole time, a real miserable trek. That said, as they walked, it did seem like there might've been some houses on the horizon? One of them Zelda never got close enough to see, but now we're at the more north cabin and so in the morning Zelda is at least going to try to knock on the door of that house. See if anyone's home.

But then, in the afternoon, that's when the real shenanigans happen. Investigating pretty afield with Miphanus at her side, about three things happen at once. The first is that that scared and somewhat overly large Onix she saw several days ago now lies before here, titanic now that she's seeing the thing up close, towering over her and the Beldum. She gasps a little at it, particularly when it makes a half-hearted roar of challenge. Thinking it's for them, Zelda does get on the defensive... Right up until it's clear the battle is between it and a tiny black thing with a pink feather in front of it, also looking a little dazed, but responding to the roar with a little chirp.

Yes, Zelda ha walked into a battle of wild giant ass Onix vs wild small-ish Sneasel, and she's unsure where her and Miphanus are supposed to stand on it? Maybe you're around too, to see this insanity?

However, whatever the outcome might come from that, it's in the evening back at camp with Miphanus floating behind her as usual that anyone who didn't witness whatever happened with that battle will be in for a surprise? Namely, that Miphanus is bigger now, more complex. Namely, out in the wilds before she returned here, Miphanus has evolved. What was once an arm with one eye is now a creature with two eyes and two arms.

Yikes-! Monta, hold up!

[Who wouldn't be surprised at the sudden HUGE ROCK SNAKE roaring at them? Sena sure is. Enough that he tells Monta to stop what he's doing - for one thing, that Flame Wheel he was cutting through the snow was barreling towards that slowly growing fight, and damn if he doesn't want to see that.]

Wild Pokemon...fighting...each other...? [For reasons that aren't involving food or hunting, as far as he can see? He squints.]

Isn't that...one of those things that Jake caught...? [That...cat thing.]

Oh, not you mention it, I believe it may be!

[ Huh. That said, yes, it's a battle between two Pokemon in the wild! A battle that begins with the Sneasel taking initiative to all but vanish into the shadows and appear behind on the Onix, slashing into the stone hide of thing with it's claws. A Faint Attack, if you will. ]

But yes, it appears to be a battle!

Wow...

[Sena, despite everything, is curious. It's a scary prospect, seeing a huge thing like that battle, but at the same time, he's excited!]

I don't think I've seen wild Pokemon fight each other yet...I mean, they react to Monta flushing them out and stuff, but this is different. You think they're getting some personality back?

That seems like a rather one-sided match.

[ . . . Hi Kazuma. She shrugs a little, not even sure what to make of this. ]

I should think, but...

[ Well, the Onix goes in for a rushing tackle! Well, slide along the earth, which does spray rocks and mud and slush over towards the humans, bu the Sneasel nimbly dodges out of the way! ]

But it'll be hard to hit such a small target?

[Sneasel does seem nimble! Kiryu is paying special attention to that one, hoping not to miss anything it does]

[ Whoa.

Noctis's eyes widen as he takes in Zelda's new friend. ]

Hey, is that Miphanus?

Yes, it is! They were able to evolve!

[ Clapping her hands together, she smiles all the broader. Metangs can emote a little better than Beldums, but it's not like Miphanus can do much more than wave its arms a little bit. Wiggle way, and look a bit more amused. ... Still no mouth, but it can make a groaning beep. ]

So it seems! It seems like a somewhat uneven match?

I guess it's true that it's natural behaviour for them. I mean, aside from hunting to eat.
