Week 7.

WEEK 7

After a week of nothing but snow, it's likely that the city is a welcome sight.

The city proper is likewise blanketed in snow, but it's far shallower here, easily walked through; it's soft and powdery and unlikely to cause you to slip, the kind of snow small children and Pokémon might enjoy playing in if they're the sort to enjoy that kind of thing.

And if they were capable of enjoying much, in the case of the children.

That said, the people here are still in the mildly improved state you witnessed in Eterna; it isn't much, but it is improvement, and the world around you continues to change in other, smaller ways as well, so it isn't all for naught.

The wild Pokémon here, however, seem to be experiencing something a little...different from what you've been seeing so far - specifically, the Shellos here seem a little hostile toward one another. Snowpoint City is separate from and parallel to the giant mountain you passed last week, and it's populated by both the blue and pink varieties; the different sorts...don't seem to like each other much. It isn't all-out warfare or anything, but there are definitely skirmishes and mounting tensions happening in slug culture here.

Mediate if you choose, or just enjoy your time in the city. You've earned it, after last week.

CURRENT LOCATION: SNOWPOINT CITY
POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week seven of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due this weekend!]

Edge of Town

[Kiryu had gone out with his Snorunt so she would have her meal of snow. Along the way he saw Zelda in the distance, she and her Pokemon were moving the snow around. Lost something? After a few minutes he decided to approach]

Did you lose something around here?

[Even if she has Pokemon with her, this looks like it can be exhausting. Better lend a hand!]
hyruglyphics: (but will I fix all the)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-07-20 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
[ The one that notices first is Miphanus the Metang! It looks up and floats over towards them. The Geodude and Onix both continue their task impassively, and Saber seems to be looking to devour more things. Zelda turns as Miphanus does though and, ]

No... no, not specifically. I'm... actually looking for some more unique rocks.

[Hello, Miphanus! Kiryu lightly pushes his Snorunt back, just in case. A Steel Pokemon who was known for tackling at high speed other Pokemon? That'd wreak havoc on this poor Snorunt. Sorry, Miphanus, nothing personal]

Rocks? Why? [Hm. Knowing her likes and dislikes, either she's doing her own archeological dig to look for fossils, or...] Looking for Geodudes?

[Since she has one, maybe she wants to compare with the more common variant, he supposes]
hyruglyphics: (idk man)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-07-21 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind that, honestly! [ She answers with a smile! But the Metang actually looks a little confused! Is it scary? It doesn't think it's scary...

Is it...?

It's hard for something which is mostly head to tilt its head, but it does try to emulate Zelda's curious look. ]

It's more I'm looking for edible looking ones for the Geodude and Onix I have.

[So sorry, Miphanus, it's for Snorunt's comfort -- even if she seems to not care at all, welp. Kiryu even tries to pat it on the top of the head as apology]

...they eat rocks?

[Huh. That kind of makes sense, but at the same time it's kind of strange. They're made of rocks, after all]

That means any random rock won't be good for them? Why?

[Not questioning her knowledge, of course! He's just curious]
hyruglyphics: (to be using them)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-07-21 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I know for certain that Geodudes do, because Gravelers do... unless their diet changes as they evolve. As for Onix though, it is merely a theory based on my existing notes about them. More relevantly though, I'm ... admittedly, it is an assumption, but I know that Gorons prefer to eat some rocks over others, depending on consistency and texture, among other things.

[ . . . So projecting a bit.

Ah, this one's smooth! ]

Gorons... [He's sure he heard that before. Somewhere. He doesn't know the details, but he's sure that's from her world. Rock-eating people, apparently] Your world has all kind of sapient races, apparently.

[Kiryu approaches and looks at the rock she found. Smooth rocks, hm...well, may as well look for those, then. He starts moving snow around to look for those]
hyruglyphics: (so like I'll get some better)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-07-21 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not actually familiar with what the word sapient means...? Does that mean having a society or awareness?

[ That said oh wow, he's going to help? She looks a little surprised and the Metang looks a little exited to have someone else here! With a little pleased(ish) beeping sound, it's going to dig around for more smooth or shiny rocks.

... Or in Zelda's case she finds what might be a geode?

... Hmmm... ]

Something like that. It's having feelings, being aware you and others like you are alive, and...

[The words aren't coming. He's finding hard to explain the concept. Kiryu takes a rock, turning it over in his hands while he thinks]

Dunno how to explain it. Like, animals aren't, but Pokemon clearly are even if they can't speak, you know?

[That wasn't clear at all, eh?]
hyruglyphics: (Pi'll clean up some more)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-07-22 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Animals are not, but Pokemon are... are Pokemon truly so substantially different than normal beasts? She looks to Saber and then Miphanus, and rolling a rock in her hands she finally concludes... yes, they are. They aren't any of the actual tribes or Hyrule or their equivalent, but they do have somewhat more awareness than most animals. Though she also can't help but wonder if the awareness of animals is simply different, but rolling the words off her tongue, ]

Many then, yes. Hylians and Sheikah, Rito and Zora, Gerudo and Goron. And then there's monster species - Lizalfoes, Lynels, Moblins... With the comparison to Pokemon, many spiritual creatures may qualify as well.

[personal profile] takestheblame 2018-07-24 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[There's so much to unpack there, from the perspective of a common yakuza hailing from a normal world. So many sentient races, and then there's monsters, and spiritual creatures. It's hard to know what's the first question to ask, because several cross his mind immediately]

That was a lot to hear at once.

[Okay, maybe he can focus on something. It's just that he has no idea what to go for]
hyruglyphics: (I mean some look okay?)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-07-25 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... I apologize?

[ Huh. So.

... Maybe she should try again slower? But that might be insulting... ]

[It's no big deal, Zelda! You have no idea how long it took him to accept the weirdness of this world, now he has to accept the weirdness of another world, hah!]

It's no big deal. It's just that it's stuff I'm not used to. Like spiritual beings. There are legends, but they're just legends. Nothing that actually exists.

[And it's not like Kiryu is particularly knowledgeable about these legends. He knows just as much as the average person]

They're like...ghosts? Ghostly animals?
hyruglyphics: (for the icons!)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-07-26 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, or perhaps they have a life between divine and living. Fairies, for example. Or Poes, though those are ghosts more properly. The dragons, as well...

[ So... let's keep it simpler...

Oh, did you find a nice rock, Geodude?

... It's going to look at it and then start to chew on it. ]
