Week 7.
WEEK 7 After a week of nothing but snow, it's likely that the city is a welcome sight. The city proper is likewise blanketed in snow, but it's far shallower here, easily walked through; it's soft and powdery and unlikely to cause you to slip, the kind of snow small children and Pokémon might enjoy playing in if they're the sort to enjoy that kind of thing. And if they were capable of enjoying much, in the case of the children. That said, the people here are still in the mildly improved state you witnessed in Eterna; it isn't much, but it is improvement, and the world around you continues to change in other, smaller ways as well, so it isn't all for naught. The wild Pokémon here, however, seem to be experiencing something a little...different from what you've been seeing so far - specifically, the Shellos here seem a little hostile toward one another. Snowpoint City is separate from and parallel to the giant mountain you passed last week, and it's populated by both the blue and pink varieties; the different sorts...don't seem to like each other much. It isn't all-out warfare or anything, but there are definitely skirmishes and mounting tensions happening in slug culture here. Mediate if you choose, or just enjoy your time in the city. You've earned it, after last week. POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY [OOC: Welcome to week seven of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due this weekend!] |

SUNDAY

More specifically, he and Cat Janet are sitting on the steps of Snowpoint Temple, watching a pink and blue Shellos go at each other. Michael's just using it as a form of entertainment while he drinks his morning coffee and has breakfast. Cat Janet, on the other hand, seems far more interested, her eyes bright as she watches the slugs exchange blows. After five minutes or so, she gets up, stretches, and walks over to the battle. The Shellos don't really react to her looming presence, until she reaches out a paw to flip the pink one onto its back.]
Are we on the blue side, Janet?
[Cat Janet glances back at him, then returns her sharp gaze to the Shellos, tail twitching behind her. The blue Shellos is now creeping over the flipped pink one, just climbing right over top of it with its weird slime trail while the pink one flails.
Janet seems pleased with herself.
Michael spends the rest of the day familiarizing himself with the town, finding a good place to sleep and all of that. If you see him walking around, you might notice that a few times throughout the day, he's approached by some local ghost-types - usually on their own, though once there's a Gastly and Misdreavus together.]
Oh...oh, hey! I wasn't sure you were actually listening. What is it?
[They're all a bit wispier than usual, and seeing as the wild Pokemon have started fighting, it's not hard to figure out that these must be what passes for injuries on a ghost. Michael generally dispenses a Potion or two and sends them on their way. After the Misdreavus is treated, though, it seems like that one Gastly is taking charge of herding other ghost types over there? It probably mistook what Michael said for an order or something.]

[That's what demons do, after all. They gather human souls and do what they want to them. It's just that it entails torture and suffering]

He's trying not to be! He's trying to be good and not give Camilla something to worry about, even if Camilla has shit taste in women. But for the most part he's feeling...slightly better now that he's had a chance to be inside and warm up again, which we can all understand to mean "resting sucks and he can once again feel his fingers, so obviously he's fine."
He is not fine.
That said, though, he can be found talking to some of the attendants in the Center, asking them if they can go on a paid errand to get him stuff and generally looking like the most awkward person alive; there's a kitchen in the back, though, if you know where to find it, and that's surprisingly where he can be found for a fair amount of the day (don't worry, he hasn't up and vanished), standing over a pot of...something that smells like berries and sugar, looking very bleary but generally satisfied with himself.
...He's also got like eight thousand jars, because when one is making obsessive amounts of kompot one does not go halfway, and he is most definitely making obsessive amounts of kompot back here.
However, since man cannot subsist on Soviet drinks alone (as much as they may want to) and does, in fact, need to edify the fuck out of one's damn soul, somewhere around the evening he can be found rather shamelessly trying to escape the Center, because he's been here all day and he's so bored and he's...so feverish but who the fuck is counting; he's not being particularly stealthy about it, he's literally just kind of leaving because who the hell is going to stop him, and he's about two steps out the door when he's practically going to trip over one of those pink sea slugs that's just been having A Day hiding out on the edges of slug warfare over there. It squeaks at him for the offense, and it looks sort of miserable but mostly just cold, and Jake just stares at it for a moment before- ]
What the hell are you guys even doing this far north, anyway?
[...And long story short, that is how Jake ends up back in the Center that night with his jacket off and just sort of piled on top of this damn slug in an effort to keep it warm. Is it his slug now? Who the fuck knows. It's just stupid and pink and looking very happy being warm, and probably oozing purple shit all over his jacket.
It's gonna be a really long week.]

They return triumphanty in the afternoon. Maybe you'll find them coming back, Daigo taking a Snorunt with him. Looks like Kiryu got a fifth member for the team]
What kind of animal is this supposed to be?
[Kiryu asks quietly to anyone who is there. What is a Snorunt?
Later at the Pokecenter he just read a pamphlet about Snorunts, to know what to expect]
Snorunt thrives on snow, eating snow and ice all the time. Looks like I'll have to start carrying a cooler full of snow.
[He has no idea what he'll do once he runs out of snow, though]

But now that he's warmed up, he can't stand being bored and there isn't much to do in the Center. So! That's why he's out in the freezing cold again, bundled up in a jacket. He's got all of his Pokémon out with him today and they're all watching a particularly large group of Shellos. They seem to have drawn some sort of boundary line here and the pink and blue slugs are just sort of... staring each other down from across it, as if daring the others to set foot in their territory.]
My bet's on the pink slugs. What do you guys think?
[Rukeno doesn't seem to have much of an opinion, but he's watching with slightly more interest than the sword. Roc, on the other hand...
Well, she's just going to throw rocks at the slugs, because what else are you gonna do when you see an army of slugs, not pick a fight???]
Roc— Oh come on...
[Unsurprisingly, the Shellos turn their attention on her and that is how Roc ended up getting the slugs to ally against a common threat.
In the evening you can find Yuri back in the Pokémon Center. He's actually sitting at a table like a normal person instead of on the floor, and he's got a book open in front of him. It might look like he's studying again, but if you get a glimpse of the pages... well, they're definitely not Pokémon. It looks like sketches of monsters, along with handwritten information on them. You're free to join him if you'd like, he never minds the company.]

...Christ almighty, what am I doing with my life.
[...
He still gets said balaclava, a scarf for Huginn and a hat for Antonia. There go all his savings.
After that, he's going to head back to the Pokemon Center, but he's still more outside than he wants to be, because Velasquez got an idea in his head and now his more spiritually awake Pokemon are collaborating with him to build a snowman outside the Center, with... erm... Antonia wrapped up in a little winter hat as the head. She's spherical and not complaining about it, so Kayneth is just going to leave them to it, playing the part of a cold, bored chaperone making sure the kids don't get hypothermia or anything.]

Should we...be trying to help...?
[ he doesn't even know what's happening.
after spectating the showdown, keith heads to the residential area to find some jobs to take on for some extra cash. he emerges with a munchlax in his arms, wrapped up inside of his jacket, and he heads over to the pokemon center to give it some warmth. the munchlax jumps out of his jacket and sits in front of him while blue paws at him gently, wanting to play. keith has a smile on his face--a stark contrast to how he was just a few days ago--like he's enjoying watching this little interaction take place. ]

Which is what she's doing in the morning; Camilla seems to have found some work to do in the Poke Mart, and seems to be cleaning up and stocking shelves for a little extra pocket change. It's easy enough work, if a tad mindless; if Camilla were like the people here seem to be, maybe that'd be a good thing. It's certainly keeping her busy, though, but if you need help finding stuff, she'll do what she can to help.
Her Pokemon, of course, are outside for the time being; it's a little lonely without their trainer there, but they don't want to disturb her work. It'll take a while for her to be done, but they do happen to see Kayneth and his little squad making their own fun, and well...
It gives them an idea.
It's the evening that sees Camilla back at the Center. Mostly just cooking, but the main difference here is that Arion and Haar seem to be busying themselves outside of the door and communicating amongst themselves. While she will gladly be making some dinner for anyone, it doesn't seem like she'll be there for too long, if the two Pokemon have anything to say about it.
And, like everything Arion does, he's about the least subtle thing in the world when he finally strikes. One might see him rush into the kitchen, and then rush out with a ladel that Camilla was using; Haar's quickly following behind Arion, and Camilla's rushing to them as fast as she can. Once the stove is turned off, of course.]
Haar, Arion, get back here this instant!
[They eventually lead her outside, and off to one of the sides of town; by the time Camilla catches up to them, she's a little more than haggard, and she takes a moment to see what all of the fuss was about.
...If the large snowballs made there are any indication, Arion and Haar have been quite busy. Arion drops the ladel in the snow and starts to tug on Camilla's pant leg to usher her over, earning an exasperated noise from Camilla.]
...I do suppose we haven't had much time to play together since we started traveling, have we?
[Arion gives a bit of a grunt of confirmation at that, earning a smile from Camilla as she pets his head.]
Well, alright. Let's play a little bit, hm? I could teach you two how to make wonderful snowmen...

...do they?
Their encounter with Jupiter had been as disturbing as the one with Saturn, but in a different way; Rey had been expecting the woman to show similar sentiments to her associate, so the fact that she just seemed so...satisfied with everything made her slightly ill. Not to mention her lies about Cynthia. Surely the group wouldn't take them at face value? How could they possibly trust Jupiter's words over those of the person who has helped them the most?
It doesn't take long for Rey's general frustration with the events of the weekend to send her storming out of the Pokemon Center. Hopefully some exercise will calm her down.
During the morning, you can find her outside Snowpoint Temple, running her hand down the ice sealing the door. Even though there doesn't seem to be anything overly interesting about the temple, Rey appears absolutely fascinated.]
...do you think it is one, Golett?
[Golett, who clearly has no idea what she's talking about, just shrugs.
In the afternoon and into the evening, her focus has returned back to her Pokemon; they're in the enclave east of the Pokemon Center, staring down a wild Houndour. Her Riolu is braced in a fighting pose, and there seems to be something more focused about his general demeanour - his eyes never leave his opponent.]
Force Palm, Riolu!
[They've obviously been practicing; Riolu's strike is sharp and true, and the wild Houndour is knocked back into the woods from the force of the blow.]
That's it! You're doing wonderful!

The Liepard is using her speed to its fullest advantage, tearing around Snowpoint in the morning to launch random, entirely unprovoked attacks on the pink Shellos. She's dragged Quaver into it with her; the Chatot is flying along behind her, not engaging in the short battles but shrieking with excitement when they happen.
Every so often, he screams with a man's voice. Because...he just does.
Michael's following behind all of this at a pretty leisurely pace. He's clearly making zero effort to actually keep up; he's definitely not gonna bother trying to stop it. Lena is holding onto his pant leg as they walk along, though, and that's probably a good excuse.
Another good excuse is the Gastly that keeps herding other ghost types towards him for random potion dispensing. Michael sighs in irritation.]
You're all going to have to start earning your keep at some point. Do I look like a charity worker to you?
[And yet, he's still doing it.
The afternoon finds Michael back in the Pokemon Center, sitting on a bench with a warm mug of kompot in his hands. Cat Janet's scarf is drying by a heater, as is Cat Janet herself. Quaver and Lena are snacking on berries nearby, and that Gastly has followed all of them inside. She's floating close to Michael; at four feet, she's a little disturbingly tall compared to a seated human(oid).]
Emma. Olivia. Ava. Isabella. [...] Mary?
[No response to any of these. Michael frowns.]

C'mon, Sunflower, it's cold! You aren't even building anything, you're just making a pile!
[Sunflower, for his part, defiantly continues to try and make... something. Nobody ever told him that you can't use the fresh, powdery kind of snow to build snowmen or forts.
She finally gets him indoors later, where they and her other Pokémon are in the Pokémon Centre warming up. Lemonade is sticking close to Chelsea, playing absently with a Poké Doll, Sunflower is pouting and looking out the window, and Rolly... well, the baby Spheal is still rolling around aimlessly.]
He still doesn't really want to do anything, huh? It's kinda depressing.

Has it been damaged somehow...? That shouldn't be possible, should it...?
[ Apparently, the date is corrupted! That's... weird. It's weird. She's shaking it and trying to get it to work for a lot of the rest of the morning until it's around noon or so. Then, heading to the Pokemart to buy herself some lunch with her spare money, and she sits down to eat with it and her Pokemon around her! ... Well, her Pokemon sans Saber, who has to be in the ball until she finishes her lunch. Still, sitting here at a bench outside the mart, she eats from her bento box, hands some to Miphanus, and offers some to the Geodude on the bench next to her.
... As for the Onix behind her though, ]
You know... I have yet to determine what you've been eating, haven't I? Perhaps you should show me later?
[ And then later in the day, she's ... uh. Well, she's looking at a pile of rocks on the outer edge of town around the evening! Digging through the snow and picking out some choice stones as she does. Her Pokemon are helping brush aside the snow for it too. Is she looking for something specific...? ]

[Not too long after, he could be found near the site of what appeared to be a pink and blue slug standoff. Listening carefully with most of his team beside him and a Larvesta on his shoulder, Ignis either seemed to be deep in thought over how to handle the situation...or just trying to figure out what in the hell was going on.]
[After the sun had started to go down, he'd taken to training for a while near the edge of the city. It remained something of a difficult process even with the research he'd been doing; knowing specific moves seemed to be an occasional hangup for most of them. But he was getting by, sharp commands of a tactician with the concentration of a soldier. Sonantis in particular was outmatched by most of the Ghost and Dark types within the city, but there was still the occasional Magnemite he could handle. And after a short while of that...there was a bright flash of light, then all of a sudden the tiny Chingling wasn't quite as tiny anymore. Which prompted Ignis to remark under his breath:]
...likely going to need to ask someone what just happened there.
[Not that he was unfamiliar with evolution as a concept by now, but u ok buddy? Sonantis, for his part, floated right back over to his trainer with an almost cheerful-sounding chime.]

Okay, so...Monta, you've kinda got an advantage over both Vee and Nin, so... [He can't help it - with his evolution, he's not only larger and faster than the other two, but he enjoys a significant type advantage as well. Sena taps his chin, pensive.]
I'm gonna have you go up against Vee and Nin instead of you trying to catch this. Instead, you're gonna try and do what you can to block them from getting the ball, okay? Vee, Nin, I know you guys have memorized the routes...so I'm going to let you guys pick what to run when I throw this, okay?
[All three Pokemon nod at him, and Monta runs to the other end of the clearing at Sena's direction. His throwing leaves a lot to be desired, but it's enough to provide a challenge to the small Vee and Nin, and Monta's far enough away that he can't always intercept his throws. So their training session seems to be productive.
Unfortunately, Sena seems to have set up his miniature football field on some kind of border between the two slug parties, because the "game" has attracted some kind of audience. Sena gets more nervous as the field becomes increasingly blue on one side and pink on the other, the slugs balefully glaring at each other from across the field.
Until one of the blue slugs blasts a Water Pulse and manages to hit Sena's ball midair, sending said football careening into a pink one. This is apparently a declaration of war - the pink ones all send the football rocketing back, and before long an all out slugfest has started, with poor Sena in the middle of it.]
Wait, wait, wait! Gah!
[At least Monta and Vee have started firing their own attacks back at the Shellos, but he's not sure how much this is actually helping.]

Don't worry, she didn't go out looking for Lake Acuity on her own, at least... Tempting as that was. No, no. After selling a few things and restocking on supplies, she instead backtracked to Route 217 for some good, old-fashioned
level grindingtraining in the frozen wilderness. That's where she's been for the last several days, as a matter of fact, and it's not until Friday afternoon that she returns.Monday through Thursday, she can therefore be encountered on Route 217, just a little further out from the edges of the city. Did you come looking for her? Get lost, or went out to train yourself? She'd either be training her Sableye, or hanging out at a surprisingly cozy campsite.
Otherwise, you can run into her when she finally comes back into town on Friday, with a Snover in her arms. Given the species' size, though, it'd be fairer to say she's lugging it. Oof. The first bench she finds is a welcome one.]
