Week 10.

WEEK 10

You've found a few new friends this past week, and along with them, a new town to explore.

Granted, there doesn't seem to be much, particularly when compared to the cities you started out in; at the same time, the air is fresh with the scent of flowers and honey wafting on the breeze. Along with the usual Pokémon that can be found in populated areas, it seems that several Combees have made their home here - they can be found drifting along idly, seeming no more capable of true emotion than anyone or anything else, but perhaps they're trying their best. It's a little difficult to say; they are still bees, after all.

That said, the world continues to change around you, bit by bit; you still have a long way to go before you've saved everyone, but for the time being you should probably recharge, and take some time to sort through what should happen next. Talking to the locals may net you the information that there's something odd about the meadow north of town; perhaps a few of you should go to check it out...

CURRENT LOCATION: FLOAROMA TOWN
POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week ten of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend.]

enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-16 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
They're a bit different from animals, honestly. I think they're generally more likely to approach if they're open to the idea of being captured. It's more like making a contract with a familiar or something.

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-16 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's not sure if that's better or worse...knowing that Pokemon are conscious beings, and all.]

I think I get you...so you're saying that they wouldn't let themselves be captured if they weren't okay with it, right? I mean, they're completely capable of fighting back and all.

[...that could be worded better but the sentiment still stands.]
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-18 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, exactly. I imagine at this point they have the capacity to run away if they don't want to be captured, so as long as you don't pursue ones like that, it should be fine.
gekkaju: (68)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-19 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll keep that in mind, then. Otherwise it's just getting used to the idea of having to hit one with a ball to capture it...
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-21 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not like you're beaning them over the head with it the way you would with one of those American baseballs or anything. I suppose it might hurt, but I've never actually gotten that impression...
gekkaju: (56)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-21 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah? I guess I wouldn't know, then...I haven't seen anyone actually use one before.
enjoymyatelier: he's only attractive when drawn by takeuchi (what a cool guy)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-23 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... well, I'd show you, but I only have room for one more Pokemon. I've read you can only have six on you at a time, and given the general state of things I don't feel like seeing what happens if you try to catch seven, so I want to make it count.
gekkaju: (69)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-24 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, that's alright! I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out whenever I decide I want to try catching something.

I didn't know that either, though...thank you for telling me. Is there any particular reason we can only have six, or...?
enjoymyatelier: i think he's fucking her navel (that position is bizarre and improbable)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-26 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not really that difficult, so don't worry too much about it, I suppose. And... I'm not really sure? It seems like it would be a bit difficult to handle more, but the actual number seems a bit arbitrary.
gekkaju: (65)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-28 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I'd want to have more than that around with me at once anyway...just having two or three is a lot on its own.
enjoymyatelier: :smith: (sola i'm dying)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-31 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
...well, I'll agree with you there, I suppose. It's definitely hard to make sure they all get the same amount of attention.

[...he has the decency to look a little ashamed over it...]
gekkaju: (11)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-31 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
N-not that having that many is bad of course! I think it's pretty cool that everyone has so many Pokemon...I'm almost a little jealous.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-02 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well... I personally tried to pick them out for strategy reasons, but at the end of the day, I'd say about half of them are ones I just happened upon and decided to take along for whatever reason. So as we're wandering about Sinnoh, you might encounter Pokemon like that and have an almost full team before you know it.
gekkaju: (11)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-09-02 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it would be hard to have a Pokemon of every type if you only can carry six.

[Dual types help, as do moves of different types, but only those go so far.]

I'm not too worried about strategy all that much myself. I mean...I guess in the long run I don't see myself as becoming as intense of a battler as someone else might be.
enjoymyatelier: have fun storming the castle, kayneth (a totally honorable mage duel)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-02 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That's fair, I suppose. I know Bucky doesn't seem terribly interested in battle, so you're not the only one. But... yes, I was interested in having a nice spread that'd cover each other rather than trying to gather Pokemon of each type.
gekkaju: (54)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-09-04 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
So what all types have you gotten so far? If you don't mind me asking.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-07 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Hm... well, I have one that's Water and Ghost, one that's Dark and Flying, one that's Grass and Poison, one that's just Psychic, and one that's Ground and Ice. I've been debating a bit on how to round everything out.
gekkaju: (2)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-09-08 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
[That's a pretty wide spread...how do some of those things even go together, though??]

Ground and ice...water and ghost? Those are sort of weird combinations.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-11 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
They are a bit strange, I suppose, though I've found that they make more sense once you actually get to know the Pokemon and train them. It's hard to say if that's true for everything, though.
gekkaju: (36)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-09-12 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'd believe it. I mean, I guess it's not fair for me to judge...not when I'm pretty sure Chazuke is a bug type and...something else.

[He likes water weirdly a lot, even for a bug...]

Natto is a combination Posion/Dark type from what I've read on her species, but that makes a little more sense at least.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-12 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It can be a bit difficult to figure out typing from appearances alone, honestly, especially with the Pokemon from different regions. Sometimes you can go by color, but other times you really can't. I mostly figured out Velasquez was part Ghost by seeing that Normal and Fighting moves seemed to have no effect on him whatsoever.
gekkaju: (38)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-09-14 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
That's actually not a bad idea...

[Maybe he should try pitting his Pokemon against other types to see how they respond? At the very least he'd eventually get the hint with Chazuke once he started showing an usually high grass-type resistance.]

I think I'll try that, sometime. I mean, if you'd asked me to guess what type Velasquez was, I'd just have said water type and nothing else...so it seems like it pays to double-check.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-16 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, exactly. I think you ought to invest in a notebook to try and keep track of things so you can figure it out... along with a type chart, of course. Some interactions aren't exactly... logical.
gekkaju: (29)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-09-17 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I will, absolutely.

[It's not like having a cheat sheet when most of them only sort of know whats going on, right...]

Geeze...I never thought being in this world would require remembering so much. At least back in my world if you're gifted there's really only one thing you can do...
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-18 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm used to having to remember a great deal of information, as my world's systems are... a bit complex.

[TO PUT IT FUCKING LIGHTLY]
