Week 11.

WEEK 11 The meeting with Mars could have gone infinitely worse. It's difficult to say that it went well, admittedly, but at least it didn't go as poorly as it could have; either way, her departure leaves you free to look around the Valley Windworks, and it shouldn't take you long at all to find something interesting on the floor. It's bright yellow and glowing, set into the ground like any other normal part of the floor otherwise; stepping on it will cause the world to spin briefly in your field of vision, and when it straightens itself out again, you find yourself standing in the corner of the lobby of a large building you've never seen before. Welcome to the Jubilife TV station. The place seems staffed with Galactic grunts, but they leave you alone outside of just watching you in that dead-eyed, vaguely unnerving way they have of watching everything; they'll let you leave without a fuss at any rate, and it's probably for the best that you get yourself situated for the time being. After all, you've got an entire new city to get accustomed to. The people here seem to be trying to get themselves situated as well, though obviously that's for entirely different reasons. The world continues to change, around them and you both, and overall things do seem to be going in a direction that might be considered favorable. Noticeably, the grunts in the TV station don't seem to be changing at all, regardless of what happens to the other locals; that might be cause for some concern... [A new city, and a new bit of exploration... but, erm, Kayneth took the previous day off to try and recover from all of the allergies and whatnot. Today, though, he gets up reasonably early to make up for it and explore the city, noting all the important buildings and landmarks. Once he hits the last stop, the Global Terminal, he makes a somewhat puzzled observation...]

Hm. It's a bit strange a city of this size doesn't seem to have a gym. I wonder if it's because there are so many other buildings...?

[Well, in any case, he ends up parking himself in the Trainer's School, looking through the books in case there was anything important he missed and... well, talking to some of the children and the teacher. He's honestly curious, especially since this is basically the only real educational institution he's seen in the entire region so far, and he hasn't heard tell about anything else.

In the evening... well, he's sort of pensively sitting by the fountain behind the Trainer's School, reading the book entitled Lord Kayneth's Encyclopedia of Arcane Secrets he'd gotten a few weeks ago. He'd been kind of trying to ignore its, but... well... he'd been thinking about it a lot lately, and reading it... he's not angry or insulted like he thought he'd be. His furrowed brows suggest confusion more than anything.]

A book about yourself, huh? Sounds kinda lofty.

...well... if it wasn't for the circumstances surrounding it, I wouldn't be reading it. It's all my work, after all. I don't need to reread my own notes.

What kind of circumstances? You think Team Galactic was rooting around in it or something?

[enjoymyatelier]

No, it's... complicated. It's from another timeline where things went in a fairly strange direction.

Guess if you work with magic for a living. So how much do you know about this alternate world stuff, aside from the one we're in now?

[enjoymyatelier]

Well, I didn't really have personal experience with it before arriving here, because it's extremely difficult to accomplish and not my area of expertise. But I did understand the basic theory of it, if nothing else- that there are an infinite number of parallel worlds that essentially branch off from different outcomes of events.

So one world where you became a professor and one world where you became, like, a cop, and it changes enough over time that you get worlds with Pokémon and things?

[enjoymyatelier]

Right. But... well, I'm sort of wondering if it's less like one tree and more like a forest of different universes starting from different points, if you get my meaning.

I guess that could be, too. But in that case, that just makes me wonder why there's so much in common.

[enjoymyatelier]

Yes, I'm curious about that, as well. I suppose it's something I'll need to look into more, or at least ask about...

Is this gonna end up another religion thing? Probably.

[enjoymyatelier]

...I mean, possibly. It doesn't really have to start with religion, though...

which is just to the south of here, maybe a day or two as far as walking goes]

[...She isn't sure. His assistant may still be around, though, even if he isn't there at the time.]

Though... hmm... speaking of important local figures, he did notice this city doesn’t have a gym. What is the nearest Gym, anyway?]

[Oreburgh. It's a mining town nearby, to the west of here.
