Week 11.

WEEK 11 The meeting with Mars could have gone infinitely worse. It's difficult to say that it went well, admittedly, but at least it didn't go as poorly as it could have; either way, her departure leaves you free to look around the Valley Windworks, and it shouldn't take you long at all to find something interesting on the floor. It's bright yellow and glowing, set into the ground like any other normal part of the floor otherwise; stepping on it will cause the world to spin briefly in your field of vision, and when it straightens itself out again, you find yourself standing in the corner of the lobby of a large building you've never seen before. Welcome to the Jubilife TV station. The place seems staffed with Galactic grunts, but they leave you alone outside of just watching you in that dead-eyed, vaguely unnerving way they have of watching everything; they'll let you leave without a fuss at any rate, and it's probably for the best that you get yourself situated for the time being. After all, you've got an entire new city to get accustomed to. The people here seem to be trying to get themselves situated as well, though obviously that's for entirely different reasons. The world continues to change, around them and you both, and overall things do seem to be going in a direction that might be considered favorable. Noticeably, the grunts in the TV station don't seem to be changing at all, regardless of what happens to the other locals; that might be cause for some concern... [Why always with the teleport pads--well, he wasn't really complaining considering how much shorter it made the journey in general. But it never failed to be disorienting.]

[Wearing more casual clothes in tones of purple and black, he walked around the city for most of the day led by Hemera as he tried to get a proper layout of their surroundings. He seemed perhaps a little more reticent than usual, lost in thought about either the encounter with Mars, the state of the rest of Team Galactic, or both on top of a dozen other problems. Still, he didn't seem so distracted that he'd ignore anyone that decided to approach him.]

[ Guess who else is out here? His outing with Klefki is more for a literal leisurely stroll, though it'll help him get used to his surtoundings as well. ]

Hey Ignis! Just taking a walk today or are you planning on doing something else too?

Just getting a fair handle on the layout, nothing very exciting. I didn't have much else in the way of plans today.

[As usual, Michael seems completely unbothered by the weird teleportation shit. It's actually kinda obnoxious how easily he hops off the thing.

Perhaps because he hasn't experienced anything nauseating there, he spends a while hanging out in the TV station where they were dropped. Obviously, he pretty quickly finds his way to the one place he's not allowed to be, on the fourth floor. He's standing in the hallway outside the forbidden room, arms folded, just balefully watching the grunts watch him. While he's not currently attempting to get into the room, it seems like this is probably just because he already tried once or twice.

If he sees anybody else coming, he'll loudly say:]

Hey, there's not much up here. Let's go look around downstairs. [And, as he starts dragging you away, whisper:] Okay, I think we should break into that room. Thoughts?

[Whatever the case, that's probably not something that must be done today. So eventually he'll leave to explore the rest of the city. This is one of the more developed places they've been, and the sight of an actual large city seems really intriguing to him; he flits around between the school and the various tech-looking buildings, before eventually settling on investigating the Global Terminal.

He's released his Pokemon again, and Cat Janet is watching the street while Michael tries the door. Can he get in here to look at those weird big machines?]

[Camilla is going to miss Floaroma, that's for sure; the beautiful flowers, that little darling of a Pokemon, and everything that town had to offer. She finds her way out of the TV station as soon as she possibly can, though the city itself is...

...Well, Camilla winds up feeling herself staring dumbfoundedly at it, looking at just how big it is. It's really not too different from Veilstone, really, but wow. She winds up letting Arion and Eda out in the process as she starts to wander around, before checking her bag to find...]

...Wait, where is that little charm? Did I leave it in Floaroma? I certainly hope I didn't...

[After checking Eda to make sure she didn't swipe it, noting the creature's shockingly pink coat now that they're in the city, Camilla simply decides that she wants to take a look around the city; what she doesn't realize, really, is that the culprit of said spiriting away is a lot closer than she might realize, and follows her as she makes her way around town--from stopping at the Poke Mart, the Pokemon Center, and generally just taking in the sights, the little culprit keeps herself somewhat stealthy as she follows Camilla around.

...Well, about as stealthy as a shockingly yellow balloon can be, but listen, she's trying, okay. Either way, one'll definitely see her around town for most of the day, up until the evening arrives.

That's when she decides to go outside of the city limits a bit and train herself some. Her Pokemon are still out, of course; her whole team is out and generally taking on anything that tries to come out and disturb her, but she's got a giant stick out and appears to be using it like one would use an axe. Camilla doesn't want to let herself get complacent, after all; that fight against Ignis she had is simply proof that she needs to keep improving herself, and that's just what she intends to do, though she won't mind company. Especially if they can fight as brutally as she can.]

[Atsushi couldn't have expected to be in a new town in literally the blink of an eye, but that's how it happened...and after so long in Floaroma, there's finally a new area for him to explore. Chazuke seems to immediately miss the flowers and tall grass to hide in, but as long as he's on Atsushi's person and not scurrying along the ground he seems mostly okay with the development.

His trainer though...he actually doesn't explore the town as much as he wants to today, too distracted by his thoughts about everything that went on with Mars. Unable to shake feeling ashamed of her accusing him of trusting this new group blindly, or trying to talk on things he didn't understand. Despite how peaceful this place had been, he truly never asked to be here in the first place, as had much of the rest he's certain...so it's something that sticks in his craw a bit, bothering him.

He's able to find some distraction from it at the Trainer's School where he ends up spending most of his day, grabbing some of the books to take outside and sit with on the steps to read. Despite these books being clearly written for youngsters, it has a lot of information in it that Atsushi is still spotty on. Battling, type advantages...it's all stuff he pays close attention to and tries to remember. You might also spot him at the PokeMart briefly to buy a pad of paper and a pen to use to write some notes from his studies for himself. He's glad he spent some time working in the flower shop to save up a little spending money, turns out he needed it eventually. Above all he comes to two conclusions: if he wants to be competent as a trainer and able to both protect himself and strengthen the group when the time eventually comes, he's going to need to train with Chazuke and eventually catch another Pokemon.

Who or what that will be might have to come later, though...]

[Yuri's spent the whole day wandering, getting a feel for the city and what all there is here, and when evening comes he finds himself on the outskirts. As usual, he's only got Dein Nomos out with him, which is probably for the best when he comes across Camilla training. Roc would absolutely want to fight all of her Pokémon and no one needs that.]

You're probably going to have more fun with an opponent. Give me a moment to find a stick.

[because for some reason his ghost sword won't let him use him??? rude.

Anyway, it doesn't take Yuri long to locate a suitable stick and return, holding it like a sword and nodding at Camilla.]

[Yuri's here to explore the city, and he wanders by the trainer's school while Atsushi is sitting on the steps out front. Yuri tips his head a bit while he debates about interrupting, before suddenly speaking up.]

So what's the Rock-type weak against? No cheating.

[He'll at least come over so we can have a proper conversation, but this is... apparently a thing he's doing.]

[...Yuri, this is why she likes you.

Really, Camilla's actually a little surprised that anyone came out to the outskirts, but when she sees it's Yuri and he basically offers to be her opponent? It's like an early Christmas present, pretty much, and the smile he gets while she watches him prepare is practically joyous.]

Oh, you are far too good to me, Yuri. Just know that I have no intention of holding back!

[...OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT SHE'S NOT GONNA KILL HIM, BUT THAT SEEMS OBVIOUS.

Either way, she is absolutely going to come at him--she's at a triangle disadvantage here and she knows it, so she's not going to start with an overhead swing to keep herself somewhat protected. What she does start with however, is an attempted strike at one of Yuri's sides as she runs up to him, with the full expectation that he'll block. Whether or not he does, though, she's going to have to see how he moves next...]

[It occurs to Jake, weeks after the fact, that when he was trying to explain a mall goth to Chelsea he probably could have just said "everything Ignis chooses to be with his wardrobe." It feels kind of wrong to pick on the blind guy for his fashion choices, but it is what it is.

Anyway.

Jake's got his sneasel out with him today; she's looking at everything like she's trying to figure out how best to use it to do something stupid, but such is life, really.]

[The greeting is easy enough, anyway.]

Still working out yesterday?

[At least he's out of the Black Parade jacket which is the actual uniform of the elite royal guard. Then again, the purple leopard-print is also technically a uniform, so really are we doing better?]

...A bit, yes. [The Absol at his feet yawned as she sat down, Ignis himself turning to face Jake and folding his arms.]

I take it you're doing the same?

[Rey is similarly upset at the fact that they've left Floarama so quickly - Jubilife is just...too big, so it doesn't take long for her to end up outside the city limits and back into nature, trailed by her four Pokemon.]

Let's just...stay out here for a bit.

[Any thoughts of private training are dashed when Rey spots Camilla, but she's far from upset - although she is a bit curious about that giant stick you've got there...]

Hi Camilla. Are you practising fighting?

Trainer's school

[Rey finds herself needing to pass the Trainer's School to get out of the city (because Jubilife is just. too goddamn big for her to deal with right now, especially after spending so much time in the beautiful Floarama Town), but she stops when she spots Atsushi on the steps. She's tempted not to bother him, but...he's holding a book, outside the school for trainers...

...hm.]

Learn anything interesting?

[Her Golett is trailing behind her, and seems similarly upset at the fact that they're not in Floarama any more - if the fact that its still clutching the flower crown Rey made it is any indication.]

[Bucky is still obviously not thrilled with the whole teleportation thing, but at least he's gotten used to it. Doing his own rounds of casing the building is probably obvious enough to Michael, who has been around Bucky enough at this point to be able to tell when he's just exploring, and when he's trying to figure out any signs of weaknesses that a building might have.

The forbidden room definitely gets his attention, because if the grunts are guarding it, it is absolutely something they want to see.

When Michael catches his attention, he nods agreeable.]

Yeah. Looks that way.

[He did spend decades as a spy, even if he doesn't remember most of it. The training is second nature to him.

It's only when Michael actually whispers to him as they walk away that he nods, replying just as quietly.]

Whatever they're guarding, it's clearly important. If we could get hold of it, we'd probably be able to broadcast to most of the country.

[ keith is walking near camilla when he hears her talking about her charm. is she...talking about the shiny charm? ]

Did you lose something?

Kind of? I'm mostly just getting real sick of trying to yell sense into these people.

[It's kind of a mess.]

I guess it's not really our job to make them come around, but it'd make our lives a hell of a lot easier if they'd sort themselves out a little.

I...suppose I simply can't process that they truly think this is the right thing to do. It's beyond incomprehensible.

[He doesn't like it.]

I do get that feeling off of them, though - at least from Saturn and Mars. Maybe Jupiter in a really backwards sort of way. It's fucked up, but they're trying.

Though it kills me to admit, you're right. Their devotion is well past merely 'twisted', but their loyalty is crystal clear. Whether Cyrus' motives are as they've been told or if there's more to them he's kept hidden, they seem genuine in their pursuit of it.

...The damage upon our star was wrought by vengeance, and that at least made sense as much as the end of a world ever could. The perspective they must have to see all this as ideal is something I've no idea how to refute anymore.
