Week 11.

WEEK 11

The meeting with Mars could have gone infinitely worse. It's difficult to say that it went well, admittedly, but at least it didn't go as poorly as it could have; either way, her departure leaves you free to look around the Valley Windworks, and it shouldn't take you long at all to find something interesting on the floor.

It's bright yellow and glowing, set into the ground like any other normal part of the floor otherwise; stepping on it will cause the world to spin briefly in your field of vision, and when it straightens itself out again, you find yourself standing in the corner of the lobby of a large building you've never seen before.

Welcome to the Jubilife TV station.

The place seems staffed with Galactic grunts, but they leave you alone outside of just watching you in that dead-eyed, vaguely unnerving way they have of watching everything; they'll let you leave without a fuss at any rate, and it's probably for the best that you get yourself situated for the time being. After all, you've got an entire new city to get accustomed to.

The people here seem to be trying to get themselves situated as well, though obviously that's for entirely different reasons. The world continues to change, around them and you both, and overall things do seem to be going in a direction that might be considered favorable. Noticeably, the grunts in the TV station don't seem to be changing at all, regardless of what happens to the other locals; that might be cause for some concern...

[Atsushi's recently purchased notebook is now broken in with as much basic information on battles, types, and status afflictions as he could copy into it, including a few notes on Pokemon from the book Rey let him borrow. He'll be seeking her out at some point today to let her have it back, having extracted what he could into his own notebook for reference. But now that he has all of this and has an idea of what Chazuke can do (and even a new move, thanks to Michael), Atsushi's next stop is to visit the Pokemon Center.

While his Wimpod is getting healed up, Atsushi tries to talk to the staff to see if there's any possible way that they can give him some more information about his Pokemon. While talking to them seems to be a lot easier than it had been in his early days at Floaroma, things are...clearly still more than a bit difficult. He feels no closer to more answers even by the time Chazuke is all healed and is nibbling on a few berries on the countertop. But while he's there, Atsushi gets another idea that could kill two Murkrow with one stone.

Which is to say, he spends the rest of the day working at the Pokemon Center doing basic tasks like filing and keeping things organized, both to net himself some extra spending money for the road while also maybe figuring out the answers to his questions on his own. He doubts the folk here will mind if he glances over paperwork on certain Pokemon as he alphabetizes it, right? Not that there's a guarantee it'll even help.]

You find something? [Chelsea waves from mopping the floor.] Didn't know you were into medical stuff.

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-15 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
O-oh! Ah-

[Atsushi finds himself startled a but by Chelsea calling to him, resulting in him fumbling a small paper stack he'd been holding.]

Hey! I'm not...really, actually...mostly just helping out. Trying to learn a little more here and there...
niceoppai: Distracted while using a clipboard. (no one has black eyes)

[personal profile] niceoppai 2018-08-16 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
You mean, about Pokémon health? Guess that'd be pretty useful, huh.
gekkaju: (39)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-16 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
That...and I've been trying to see what I can learn from the records they've kept about past Pokemon treated. Names, types, things like that.
niceoppai: Contemplative. (knowledge is power)

[personal profile] niceoppai 2018-08-16 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, a couple of us have some books on the basics! I can lend you one, but it's just some simple stuff about native species.
gekkaju: (30)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-16 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's the thing...Rey-san lended me a book like that, too.

To be honest, I'm really trying to see if I can find more information on my starter. I thought there might be a chance somebody brought a Pokemon like him here one time. A small chance, but a chance either way.
niceoppai: Optimistic wondering. (yay i know my name now)

[personal profile] niceoppai 2018-08-16 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, a lot of our first ones aren't native species, huh? Wonder if Team Galactic smuggled 'em in or stole them... It's sad to think about.
gekkaju: (43)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-18 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
It kindof is, yeah...that'd mean that our Pokemon came from other parts of this world, right? Probably somewhere we can't get to right now, if not much is known about them here.
niceoppai: Curious question. (how good i am at being the best)

[personal profile] niceoppai 2018-08-18 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, probably. Guess there isn't much need for travel if no one has the will to go anywhere.
gekkaju: (43)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-18 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's really sad, isn't it? To be so...apathetic that you just can't go anywhere or do anything.
niceoppai: Sitting with her chin in her hands. (pluto's not a planet anymore)

[personal profile] niceoppai 2018-08-19 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Especially for a society where people move around so often.
gekkaju: (17)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-20 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah...I really hope things can be fixed and it's not too late, you know?
niceoppai: Wide self-conscious laugh. (excuse me sir nice striped shirt)

[personal profile] niceoppai 2018-08-20 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Things are getting better already. At least there's hope, right? Even if it's a little terrifying right now.
gekkaju: (54)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-21 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
There's hope...I'd like to think that the people here are starting to feel it, too. Just a little, maybe.
niceoppai: Giving a wide smile. (my instinct is like i shouldn't murder)

[personal profile] niceoppai 2018-08-21 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
No kidding! There's an obvious change, even if they're still pretty blank.
divinedescendant: (they let themselves divide)

[Emmeryn's kind of in and out of the Pokémon Center throughout the day, only in brief spurts; she tends to spend nights at the Centers in each city, so she returns to her belongings to add her new finds or return things she isn't using. She performs a couple little odd jobs, supply runs and little favors, in return for the accommodations; she comes back with a plate of small pastries at one point and says she thought of them all. Each time, she greets Atsushi, but she never stays for long until she comes to settle in for the night.

For now, Duma climbs into her lap as soon as she takes a seat on a cushion on the floor, Latona and her Ralts close beside, so she's probably not going anywhere this time.
]

Good evening, Atsushi. You have been working hard here today, haven't you?
gekkaju: (65)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-16 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Now that they've left Floaroma, it's very likely Atsushi will be doing the same as Emmeryn. He'd been staying with locals in town since they'd offered him lodging and food at one point, but the Pokemon Center seemed just as fine of a place to stay. He's more than used to sleeping on the floor, it's just a roof he needs.

He pops up from behind the counter when he hears Emmeryn's voice, Chazuke sitting atop it where he'd sort of just been hanging out most of the day, eating his fill of berries and treats and enjoying whatever attention he managed to get.]

Ah, good evening! I got as much information as I could from the school, so I figured if there was anything I missed I could jot down before we actually start traveling again, I'd find it here.

[Maybe.]
divinedescendant: (a taut wire; her father's evil empire)

[personal profile] divinedescendant 2018-08-18 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I see. This would be the best place for such a thing, I agree—we never find a town without a Center. Have you found all you were looking for, then?
gekkaju: (36)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-18 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
As much as I'm probably going to get, I think...

[He folds his arms on the edge of the counter, resting his chin on them for a moment since he's sitting at a stool to give his legs a break.]

I thought I might be able to find more info on my starter here...I was thinking there might be a small chance someone from somewhere else visited this center and brought their Pokemon here, and it'd be in records or something...but no luck.
divinedescendant: (with pins in your fingers)

[personal profile] divinedescendant 2018-08-23 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
I see. I wish I could be of more help, but more than a few of us share that same predicament... Few of our starters are native to this region.

[She smiles, sympathetic.]

I do think you were on the right track. With the world so listless, though, I suppose there hasn't been much of any interest in travel...
gekkaju: (22)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-24 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah...I wasn't expecting to find a whole lot, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try.

[He sighs, looking up at the ceiling of the center. It's so empty right now other than just them and their Pokemon...it looks like a place that might be a lot more lively than it is now if the world wasn't so messed up.]

I can't believe anyone would think a world like this is the way things should be.
