Week 11.

WEEK 11

The meeting with Mars could have gone infinitely worse. It's difficult to say that it went well, admittedly, but at least it didn't go as poorly as it could have; either way, her departure leaves you free to look around the Valley Windworks, and it shouldn't take you long at all to find something interesting on the floor.

It's bright yellow and glowing, set into the ground like any other normal part of the floor otherwise; stepping on it will cause the world to spin briefly in your field of vision, and when it straightens itself out again, you find yourself standing in the corner of the lobby of a large building you've never seen before.

Welcome to the Jubilife TV station.

The place seems staffed with Galactic grunts, but they leave you alone outside of just watching you in that dead-eyed, vaguely unnerving way they have of watching everything; they'll let you leave without a fuss at any rate, and it's probably for the best that you get yourself situated for the time being. After all, you've got an entire new city to get accustomed to.

The people here seem to be trying to get themselves situated as well, though obviously that's for entirely different reasons. The world continues to change, around them and you both, and overall things do seem to be going in a direction that might be considered favorable. Noticeably, the grunts in the TV station don't seem to be changing at all, regardless of what happens to the other locals; that might be cause for some concern...

Afternoon

[personal profile] takestheblame 2018-08-15 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. What do you need help with?

[Kiryu has Daigo with him, as usual. They were on their way to the Global Link building when Zelda approached him. He's willing to lend a hand with pretty much anything]
hyruglyphics: (to be using them)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-08-16 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I believe that this one [ Porygon, that is, who is sort of floating there blankly still ] has ... some sort if not more than one sort of ability which can allow them to manipulate things about themselves in response to other Pokémon. I wanted to test for that in a more controlled way.

[personal profile] takestheblame 2018-08-16 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
It does...? [It sounds like he's not sure that Porygon does. How does it work? Manipulate itself...that can mean anything] Guess I can help. I have any kind of Pokemon you may need.

[Daigo steps forward immediately, eager. He's volunteering immediately]
hyruglyphics: (I mean some look okay?)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-08-16 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Now, little one, if you would... use that ability of yours? [ Oh.

Okay. Well then Porygon is going to use its Trace ability to copy whatever Daigo's ability is. ... Which given Pancham's abilities might not be super obvious but what does it get ]

[Iron Fist! More strength to punching moves! So it may be difficult to see even after Porygon uses Trace...or at least Kiryu doesn't see anything]

Did something happen?

[He's looking at Porygon attentively, trying to see even the smallest change, but he's not even sure what he should be looking for]
hyruglyphics: (I mean some look okay?)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-08-17 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not... sure?

[ ... Oh, wait, there's something!! Porygon looks at Daigo again and - it's legs float off it's body. They swing upward as if to form floating boxing gloves in front of it, and then it focuses in Daigo tilting its head in to use Conversation. Porygon became a Fighting Type! And as such it adopts a brownish color scheme mixed in with its normal pinkish one.

Zelda gasps a little, oh! ]

It's two at once here, I've come to call this second one Converting!

[Kiryu has the expression of someone who has no idea what to think of what's happening. What kind of nonsense is this?]

...is this...normal? Did you know that was going to happen?

[Daigo's reaction is much less restrained, he approaches to take a better look. What a nifty trick! It's so cool!]

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-08-17 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen them change color in relation to their opponent, so ... [ Hmmm ] Perhaps they have changed type, somehow? That could be possible.
takestheblame: 1 (1)

[personal profile] takestheblame 2018-08-18 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well it did change colors...and Fighting type are usually represented with that kind of color...it may be true]

Allow me to attack once. That should test if its type changed.

[Daigo has one move that isn't effective against Fighting types. Trying to see if it won't be effective should help determine that]
hyruglyphics: (I mean some look okay?)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-08-19 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Does that seem alright?

[ The Porygon... nods? Well it's probably nod, the head just sort of popped off it's body for a bit and bobbed up and down before resetting position. ]

Then yes, let's!

[personal profile] takestheblame 2018-08-21 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
You heard them, Daigo. Be careful. [Wouldn't want to be too rough] Crunch.

[Daigo doesn't seem too sure about biting a...weird floating bunch of geometric blocks -- but hey, Kiryu surely knows what he's doing! Crunch, it'll be! He jumps up and, with as much care as possible, bites one of Porygon's newfound gloves. Nom!]
hyruglyphics: (Too much to remember)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-08-21 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's not very effective! Because Porygon is a fighting type now! that said, it actually seems mildly surprised that it doesn't hurt that much? It should attack back though, right? And as such, Porygon...!

Starts to charge a purple laser at the tip of it's beak. A Psybeam. But Zelda- ]

No, no! We won't counter-attack!

[ Oh.

Okay? The laser dissipates!! ]

[Looks like she was right. That didn't seem to phase the Porygon at all!]

You realize how valuable this is? You have the perfect counter against anything. Versatility seems to be its strong point, that's a rare skill.

[And he knows how to appreciate versatility, yup[
hyruglyphics: (HMMM)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-08-22 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps not perfect, but if I can understand this ability, it really will present a wide variety of options... at least in terms of defense. Truth told, the majority of the techniques that they've developed seem to be these sort of utility moves than offensive ones.

[ Mostly just that laser they aborted ]
