Week 13.
WEEK 13 The trip to Celestic Town is an unconventional one, though it's infinitely faster than walking and doesn't leave everyone feeling woozy in the same way that teleportation does. The town itself is a small one, though it's scenic, and there's a sort of beauty to it that's very rustic in nature; it's surrounded on both sides by mountainous routes that you're welcome to go on to both the west and the east, though it wouldn't be recommended that you venture too far out, seeing as they can be on the dangerous side for those who are unfamiliar with them. It seems Cynthia was right about one thing - there was certainly an incident at Lake Verity that went off almost as soon as you left, another of those deep pulses echoing through the surrounding area; it seems that whatever Mesprit did can be felt by the region as a whole, given that Celestic Town and the surrounding areas seem to have been affected as well despite being so far east of the lake. Cynthia herself can be found throughout the town for the duration, should anyone want to speak to her. Sometimes when left to her own devices, she can be seen in the company of a little girl who looks very similar to herself; sometimes she's with a pair of people much older. Either way, the family resemblance is strong. Lucas is here as well; he's still willing to speak to anyone that wants to, though he seems a bit subdued. Either way, it's been a long, harrowing trip so far; hopefully spending some time here will help to rejuvenate you. POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES SURROUNDING ROUTES: MOUNTAINS/ELEVATED AREAS SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY [OOC: Welcome to week thirteen of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! [Anyways, to the actual question he wanted to ask.]
Um...you said you were a research assistant, right?
no subject
Yeah! I've been helping Professor Rowan for a while. My dad works with him, too.
no subject
[No really, it sound interesting. Sena had imagined himself as a super competent manager at one point, similar to his father, but it turns out he just doesn't have the mental facilities for such a task. While he doesn't regret turning out to be complete and utter jock, he imagines going into the same line of work as his father would have been pretty cool.]
So, uh, you have some knowledge of Pokemon outside the region too?
no subject
no subject
[Shell's still on his head, and Nin's fighting in the distance, so Sena doesn't have too much trouble pointing them out.]
They were both the same Pokemon once - I don't mean two of the same Pokemon, I mean one single Pokemon...and when Nin evolved into that - [he points again at Nin] - the shell she left behind when she evolved became this - [and there's Shell.] I've never seen an evolution like that - is it even an evolution? Is Shell a completely different Pokemon or something, or part of Nin?
no subject
[And from the sound of it, this is the coolest thing ever? This is really neat- ]
Yeah, I've heard of this! Professor Rowan does a lot of studies on evolution, it's a specialty of his, and it's always really great getting to see different ways that Pokémon evolve.
Shell isn't really a part of Nin anymore, even if it used to be - when Nincadas shed, their shells can come back to life if they're given the chance to. It's really just the shell, it doesn't have organs or anything, and I'm sure you've noticed that it doesn't really...move all that much by itself outside of hovering around and clinging to things, but it's a different Pokémon on its own.
They're good Pokémon, though.
no subject
[it's own Mon after all, huh?] Yeah, I noticed...
[it's kinda creepy? also kind of endearing because it's got a little pink bow and won't stop clinging to Sena's head but still a little creepy?]
I noticed it doesn't really breathe or anything, but...uh...
[sweats.]
Do they...even eat? [He's never seen it try to eat, but then later on its food bowl is empty...]
no subject
[Hmmm...]
They like it when you pet them, though.
no subject
[Now he has to find out which of his party members is getting second helpings...
...oh who is he kidding it's probably Monta.]
That's good to know, I guess?
[time to scratch Shell's head while it's still chilling around there!
...The hollow rattling noise it makes when Sena does that means that it's happy, right?]
no subject
They're just as willing to be friends with you as anything else. You probably shouldn't stare into the opening on its back, though.
no subject
Yeah, I uh...
[Gulp.]
Kinda figured that out.
[Watching the shell crack open before your very eyes as it comes back to life is...definitely a thing, yes.
Also Michael told him about it and if Actual-Demon-Michael tells him not to do a thing, he probably shouldn't do the thing.]
You wouldn't happen to know what type it is, would you? I mean, I figured it's bug type, but I can't help but feel like it's something else, too...
no subject
no subject
[He looks up at Shell.] I guess that's why Michael can understand you, huh?
[Rattle. More or less, yeah. Although it really doesn't get Michael. Closest comparison the Shedinja can draw is maybe something like He-Lord-Of-All-Ghosts-In-The-OtherRealm or something. Which...the Shedinja isn't entirely sure what that is, precisely, but just knows about it in that way that Pokemon know about legends and naturally flock to them when they're in danger or something like they do in the Pokemon movies.
(Giratina. Shell's comparing Michael to Giratina.)]no subject
Michael is an...interesting guy, yeah?
no subject
Um...that's one way to put it.
[Nervous laughter.]
I think he's still figuring some things out...
no subject
[...Lucas.]
no subject
I don't think that makes him a bad person or anything... [Except he kinda was one at some point, so]
It's um...kinda like dealing with my football team captain at home.
no subject
Oh, you play football - it's a big thing in Unova. Do you play gridiron?
[holy shit, sena
someone who knows what football is]
no subject
Huh? Yeah, I do! [Genuine shock and surprise.]
They really have football in this world?
no subject
no subject
[Actually, now that you mention it...]
Do they play together with Pokemon, or anything like that? ['Cause he's been teaching his Pokemon football strategies, so...]
no subject
no subject
A-amazing-! [He has to start googling this stuff now. Or uh. Pokeoogling. Whatever you guys call the internet search engine in this world.]
