Week 13.
WEEK 13 The trip to Celestic Town is an unconventional one, though it's infinitely faster than walking and doesn't leave everyone feeling woozy in the same way that teleportation does. The town itself is a small one, though it's scenic, and there's a sort of beauty to it that's very rustic in nature; it's surrounded on both sides by mountainous routes that you're welcome to go on to both the west and the east, though it wouldn't be recommended that you venture too far out, seeing as they can be on the dangerous side for those who are unfamiliar with them. It seems Cynthia was right about one thing - there was certainly an incident at Lake Verity that went off almost as soon as you left, another of those deep pulses echoing through the surrounding area; it seems that whatever Mesprit did can be felt by the region as a whole, given that Celestic Town and the surrounding areas seem to have been affected as well despite being so far east of the lake. Cynthia herself can be found throughout the town for the duration, should anyone want to speak to her. Sometimes when left to her own devices, she can be seen in the company of a little girl who looks very similar to herself; sometimes she's with a pair of people much older. Either way, the family resemblance is strong. Lucas is here as well; he's still willing to speak to anyone that wants to, though he seems a bit subdued. Either way, it's been a long, harrowing trip so far; hopefully spending some time here will help to rejuvenate you. POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES SURROUNDING ROUTES: MOUNTAINS/ELEVATED AREAS SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY [OOC: Welcome to week thirteen of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend.] |

SUNDAY
lucas + ota with sena's silly team
Speaking of Nin and Shell, that's what Sena wants to talk to Lucas about - the guy did mention he was a research assistant to Rowan, after all, so maybe he knows about them and why they evolved the way they did? It takes a while to track down Lucas, but when he does, Sena starts wondering if now is a good time to talk to the kid. He somehow seems...less energetic than before. That can't be right, after what Mespirit did. Right?]
Ne, Lucas...you alright?
[Please ignore his Idiot Trio scuffling in the distance, Lucas. They're Fine.]

If we could perhaps never do that again, I would accept any amount of walking in exchange.
[Eventually he'd get a fair enough idea of the town's layout that he was back to politely borrowing the residential kitchens in exchange for food and cooking lessons; today what he left at the Pokemon Center was back to basic but filling. He'd leave the others to worry about Lucas and Cynthia for the moment; they'd probably need to talk to the latter as a group anyway.]

Later in the day he decides to visit the Shop and see what there is to offer. He feels bad for his partners for having been so stressed out during their encounter with Mesprit, so he decides to let them pick out some accessories if they want. Natto gets a belled collar for her neck, while Chazuke gets a little armband patterned with stars. ...except that it won't fit on any of his legs, so it goes around his tail for now.
Sometime otherwise, if Atsushi finds you in his company or you in his, he might speak up to you while you both go about your first day.]

Golly, that doesn't sound familiar at all!
Since having a pretty public breakdown at a cave wall, Michael has seemed extremely disinclined to talk to anybody at length. After the group has settled down in Celestic Town, he abandons the little village entirely to go explore Route 210.
He doesn't go that far out. He meant what he said to Zelda about not splitting up the group; if he were still at a place where he was willing to do that, the encounter with Mesprit probably wouldn't have bothered him as much as it did. But he does definitely take all his stuff with him and vanish into the fog without so much as a by-your-leave, which is possibly not the most considerate he could have been.
He spends a good chunk of the afternoon sitting on one of the cliffs overlooking the river. There's a tree here to lean back against, close enough to the edge that there's a ready supply of little rocks for him to violently fling at the opposite side, sending them bouncing and clattering down into the water. Every so often, his rocks dislodge a larger rock or chunk of dirt and send that splashing down too. It's mildly diverting.
None of his Pokemon are out at the moment. Up until now, wild Pokemon haven't really been capable of enough aggression to impart the tall grass lesson. Of course that changes now, which Michael discovers when a wild Chimecho attempts to start a battle by using Wrap on him. It's more surprising than anything; he instinctively pries the thing's weird banner-tail loose from his arm and yanks it in close. The look on his face is dark for a moment, but all he ends up doing is hissing:]
Go. Away.
[before releasing it. Off it goes.
The encounter has soured this spot, though, so he relocates farther up the mountain. There's a small waterfall crashing down near this spot. Michael can be found laying down with his head resting on his bedroll, talking to a pair of Duskull that he's located.]
Really though, who does that? "Hi, nice to meet you, can you give me a list of your weaknesses?" Who does it think it is?
[The Duskull's eye-lights bounce around towards each other. They're listening, but they don't seem totally sure what all this is about or why it's happening to them in particular.]

...For the most part being because her Pokemon are...certainly having a time with their emotions. Arion seems to be doing okay, and seems to actually be trying to take a leading role in trying to get everyone to calm the hell down, but everything starts going haywire when a wild Gligar comes in, promptly making Eda freak out at the flying Pokemon and run around practically screaming--]
Eda, dear, please calm down! Fall back if you need to but--
[This gets Melady in all of her balloony glory to try and calm Eda down with her gentle words, but Eda is proceeding to have none of that and promptly scurries away...in the direction of said Gligar, which just kind of brings this back to square one? Haar at least tries to drive off said Gligar, but dear god this is just a mess. Even Altena, who was quite content to just sleep through training, wakes up with a yowl that's basically attempting to tell everyone to shut up so she can sleep. It's. It's a lot. At least Beruka seems to be in relative good mental shape, even if she's kind of. Side-eyeing this whole thing? Even so, as it looks like Gligar is about to go past Haar to get at Eda, something happens.
...Something most definitely happens. The white light practically blinds the Gligar, and Eda does...some sort of decently powerful move that drives the Gligar away rather effectively, even if it feels slightly chilly as a result.]
Ah--Eda! Congratulations!
[...Now that just makes most of her Pokemon happy as clams, and now Haar and Eda are just kind of jumping around and squealing a bit? Holy shit, they're energetic.
It's later in the evening that Camilla comes back to town, and she can actually be found near the shrine with Arion, offering a prayer of some kind. Her words are pretty soft and she seems a little distracted, but she's praying for the safety of everyone here, along with the lake guardians and Shaymin and the like. Once the prayer is offered, she'll likely be staying by there for a little while longer, just kind of idly petting Arion. She'll need to talk to Lucas at some point if he's up to it, but...it's kind of nice to have some damn peace for the time being.]

Once on the ground, it doesn't take him long to get his bearings, let his small herd out of their Pokeballs, and stares as two of the four Pokemon start to act... well. Stressed is the best way to put it. Henrietta flaps her wings immediately before landing on Bucky's shoulder and pecking at his ear. Horace whinnies loudly, stopping at the ground.]
...You guys okay?
[Later on, once he's managed to calm the two of them down, Bucky can be found outside of the ruins, examining the images with great interest. They don't... quite look like the statue in Eterna, do they? Kind of a shame he can't go into the ruins themselves, but as long as he's outside of them-- and telling them he's not going inside alone, it looks like the locals don't mind him being close.
In the evening, before he sets up camp for the night, he spends time at the shrine, quietly examining it before placing a handful of berries as an offering. If the gods are all Pokemon, maybe it'll do something?
Then again, maybe not, because he has a sinking feeling the gods depicted on the ruins were captured by Cyrus.]

MONDAY

Namely, emotions are terrible and Naočale isn't even affected by them yet, but goddamn if he isn't tired of Kandža's shit; Kandža can't even figure out what in the name of Arceus she did, either because she genuinely wasn't doing anything and Naočale is mildly insane or because she's legitimately just fucking stupid, Jake can't really be sure which it is. Either way, Naočale is in Kandža's business, Kandža is getting in Naočale's business right back, Cvetka is coming over to get mildly and confusedly involved because she's just there and Kandža is her buddy, and then there's a goddamn fight and because Naočale is a ground-type this is going to end in a literal fight cloud, and by the time the damn dust settles we've got. Well.
A couple of different Pokémon just kind of there in the aftermath. Cvetka is okay with this because she's okay with everything, Naočale looks more thug life than before, somehow, and Kandža seems totally fine not being part of the evolution party because she's more distracted by the fact that her friend is now a slug the size of a Labrador.
Jake will come over to check this out, because this is really stupid but you know what, the results are cool.]
...So I'd prefer you guys not do it like that in the goddamn future, but whatever works, I guess.
[...He sounds proud of them anyway? Sort of. He's still really severe in the face, but such is Jake.
That said, though, he'll spend most of the afternoon just kind of...around town a bit; he seems restless, and it isn't until evening falls that he finds himself back at the ruins that he was looking at with Bucky the night before. He isn't going into them, but he's staying outside of them to look at the images carved into the plates lining the walls outside. He doesn't touch them, he's just...looking at them.
He isn't sure how he feels about them overall; he has to wonder, too, if these are the same ones that were taken by Cyrus. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't; maybe they're the spacetime gods, maybe they're the things they're supposed to find near Canalave. Thinking about it too long's going to do his head in, but he doesn't really know what else to think about.
After all, what he's got left is a bunch of the shit he's been discussing with Michael and a bunch of problems that may or may not be his, and he'd rather not deal with that right now or he's going to scream at someone, probably. Either way, Lobanja is with him just...nuzzling up against his leg once in a while, because that's more or less her job, concern over everything.]

but he's back at his training in the morning, looking a lot more...pensive than usual. like something's on his mind. he's getting ready to train pidge today when pidge just starts whining uncharacteristically. ]
Pidge-! Easy! [ she's stomping her feet and making a huge fuss. keith is clearly struggling to calm pidge down when suddenly...
a good friend shows up.
keith stops what he's doing immediately, and his eyes go wide. it's a look that people probably haven't seen on keith before, like. ever, since he arrived here.
the little hippo peers up at him curiously, and keith. needs. it. ]
Pidge, it's time to- [ pidge lets out another loud whine, and keith groans. this isn't going so well. ] okay, I don't know what's gotten into you, but it'll be okay. I promise. [ he starts trying to...pet pidge's back, but pidge is still thrashing around. if someone happens to be nearby, keith won't hesitate to flag them down. ]

OTA + Cynthia!
She's not the only one struggling with her emotions; throughout their Sunday cuddle-pile, her Ralts - still newly captured - alternates between softly weeping and excitedly spasming, struggling to gain control of the sudden flood of emotions crashing through his little body. Golett and Riolu seem to cope a little better (aside from the odd high-pitched giggle here and there), and take the time to ensure Ralts feels safe nestled between them.
It makes Rey smile, at least.
Monday is a new day, though, and Rey dislikes being idle. The morning sees her in front of the Celestic Ruins, running a hand over the carvings outside it and pondering her book of Sinnoh Pokemon. Her Pokemon have taken it upon themselves to do some training, their excited cries almost sounding foreign. But at least they're genuinely enjoying themselves - even Ralts, who has evolved from weeping to just occasionally teary.
Afternoon has her...not too far away, this time examining the Celestic Shrine. There's something incredibly peaceful about this town...it's different from the warmth of Floarama Town, but not necessary in a bad way. Rey decides she likes it.
Particularly due to one inhabitant that she's just managed to spot.]

Today's a little different, though! Early in the morning, Eustace can be found in the Pokemon Center lobby, settled at one of the couches with a book and a cup of coffee. He's going over some notes that he jotted down while he was at the Pokemon Research Lab in Sandgem Town. Rose is nestled in his lap—something she forced Eustace into complying to—and reading along with him. Well, "reading".
He glances down at her as he reaches a particular section, notably about her type.]
We'll need to try out some new moves today- see what else you're capable of.
[Sounds like he's finally managed to learn more about his partner! It's exciting to him, even if some of the things he learned surprised him.
With that conversation in mind, training is sure to follow. In the afternoon, Eustace heads out to one of the surrounding routes and gets to work with a few members of his team. Today he's focusing on Rose and Pup. The two have a couple friendly spars, with Eustace testing out some new move commands with Rose, and it's going pretty well! At one point Rose gets the upper hand on Pup- quite literally, as she manages to pick up the Poochyena with her claw and dangle him. No amount of thrashing or attempts at biting that tendril work. Pup's in a pinch! It's this moment that allows for something amazing to happen. Out of nowhere Pup's little form begins to glow bright, and that little form suddenly gets much bigger. The sudden weight shift alone would be enough to get Rose to drop Pup, but it's actually the light that startles her into retreating. She scurries behind Eustace, who is stunned by Pup's evolution. It's the perfect opportunity for Pup to basically jump him out of excitement, nearly knocking him over in the process. He's huge now after all, and on his hind legs his front paws are able to latch onto Eustace's shoulders.]
Heh. [Eustace can't hold back a chuckle there as he holds onto the Mightyena for balance, ruffling his fur.] Congratulations, Pup. Guess you're no longer an actual pup.
[That gets a pleased bark from Pup...and in the excitement, he cranes his neck up and gives one of Eustace's doglike ears a playful nibble. ...Eustace can't even be mad about it. It's kind of cute.
The sparring continues soon after, and in the end Rose gets a ride on Pup's back- an apology for blinding her with his evolution.]

Lucas!
Everyone's been here for a couple days, and he's already commandeered the company of several wild ghost-types, so this time he breaks his routine a little and has Jane Doe round up any ghosts she can find in town in the early morning. The weird shrine thing seems like a good place to have an afterlife chat, so Michael sets up over there. It's actually a bit interesting; he looks it over before the ghosts arrive, committing the carvings to memory.
Normally, these meetings are fairly quick and easy affairs. He has his patter down, and the wild Pokemon have had enough personhood to listen and accept whatever he says, but not enough to have a real reaction to it. Today, though, things are going differently.]
Oh, that's...hi. Yes, hello. [A couple of Misdreavus have taken it upon themselves to float up close to him. They aren't attacking, exactly; they're just here, and Michael seems uncomfortable.] Ah - that's Mary Poppins. Please do not battle her, she really isn't here for that.
[This is in reference to his Ride Drifblim, who he also invited to this, and has apparently named Mary Poppins. There's a Gastly who looks like it might want to fight her. Jane Doe, meanwhile, has gathered several smaller Gastly under her claws and is just sort of hugging them a lot. For reasons. Is she crying?
The first Gastly uses Mean Look on Mary Poppins! Even Michael can tell that it's not a normal evil glare.]
This is just an introductory meeting!
[That might take a little while to break up.
But break up it will, eventually. Later in the afternoon, he goes looking for one person in particular, calling out when he finds them:]
Lucas! Hey, here's an idea - let me look at that Pokedex of yours, and I'll have a battle with you.
[It's phrased like a trade, but these are...actually both kinda things he wants.]

[Eventually, he decided to seek out someone else entirely; to that end, an Absol would wander right on up to Lucas and sit patiently at his feet, followed in short order by her trainer.]

Duma, no.
[yeah.
The good news is that Duma's new giant shell makes him hilariously slow, so he's just toddling laboriously across the town, making turtle-like progress. He's gotten, like, halfway to the exit to Route 210, but all it takes to stop him is Emmeryn walking around him and standing in front of him. He waddles a step left and she follows; he tries going right again and she shifts again. For some reason he thinks he's going to be able to like, outrun her? Or win a stealth check? Guess what, it's not working; so they're just doing this stupid back-and-forth.]
Don't just disappear like that. No, we are going back. Would you like to go back in the ball? No.
[she's making this threat but the pokéball is still with her things? it's too early for this it's too early for this it's too early for this
Come the afternoon, now that it isn't disgustingly early and Emmeryn isn't running around in her pajamas, she's taking her team for walks up and down the town, settling in and becoming familiar with things. Now that people have personalities again, she's making an effort to acquaint herself with the townspeople, too, making small talk and friendly introductions. She's pleased to chat with the rest of the group, too—]
Good afternoon. Isn't this place quite the transition?
[Notably, no matter how many times she circles about, she's having absolutely nothing to do with either of the adjacent routes, and is quite comfortably staying within town limits.
Come early evening, the walk Emmeryn was trying to take around town has been ruined because dear little Audhulma, the feelings Pokémon, is having one hell of a time having so many feelings at once. She's clinging to Emmeryn's skirt, wailing and whimpering and teleporting away every time Emmeryn tries to pick her up—only to cling to Emmeryn's other side instead.]
Oh, darling, it's all right, please just...
[Eventually, Latona finally finds herself curious enough about the situation to kind of crouch down and remind Audhulma of her presence, so Audhulma teleports on top of her head and then half-clambers half-falls down into Latona's arms. Latona is, at the most, lightly bewildered, but her tolerance for this ridiculousness quiets Audhulma down some, anyway.
To anyone near enough to have witnessed whatever this nonsense was—] She is usually so calm... Have the others been so strange?

That said, she's glad to be somewhere peaceful. She's enjoying a walk around town, Pokemon out of their balls. Ichigo has taken the leader role, trying to make sure everyone stays together, but there's a problem. Two of them, actually.
They start at the pond to the south of town. Aoi the Marill has decided that this pond is the best thing she has ever seen, and staying in it in order to use Water Gun on everyone who walks by is the funniest thing she has ever done.]
Aoi, that's not nice. Come on, get out of the pond and stop squirting people.
[She does not cooperate, which means she's squirted Kokoro the Raichu. That's when his adamant nature kicks in. He's decided to shock Aoi out of the water, and electricity and water do not mix.]
Come on, both of you, stop that! You could hurt someone.

In the afternoon while some of her plan is to see Lucas and speak with him about her research and his own... before she finds him, she's actually practicing something with Miphanus the Metang. Namely, the both of them seem to be playing a simple game on a sheet of paper? numerous rounds of tic tac toe. ... It seems to find it stimulating. But after that, she's sure looking for Lucas to talk with him! It's hard to know when Miphanus has its fill, but...
And then finally, evening hits, and Zelda is actually trying her hand at cooking for more people. As usual, her cooking involves a stew, where she is making it mostly out of mushrooms and berries, some nuts that she's gathered over her trip here. The ingredients that they have on hand help, and once it's done, it'll end up basically being a potato leak! It's not the best, but she's confident enough, so (with her Lickilicky, Saber, lurking behind her) she's going to be offering it with a smile, ]

lucas!
In the afternoon, having found his two Pokemon, he can be found... looking a bit hungrily at the ruins. God. God. He wants to go in so badly, but he's not sure who to ask about it... maybe Cynthia? But ah, everyone else probably wants to talk with her... entirely understandable, but also, he finds himself talking to Velasquez, Huginn, and Antonia, who seem the most calm or, perhaps, just the least likely to bolt for no reason...]
Ah, maybe we should ask for a tour later this week... I'll have to see who's interested and take it up with the locals. That would probably be most efficient.
[...actually, maybe he should try and track down Lucas and ask about it. He does owe him a battle, anyway, so he'll do that in the evening.]

Jurgen! That's enough!
[Take Down, of course, hurts the user as well, and the Gible does eventually tire himself out, but not before making one last charge at a lamppost, which seems to knock him out as he falls backwards. Morag sighs, hoping he's finally got it out of his system.]
Are you quite finished-
[But she's cut off when Jurgen is enveloped in a familiar white light. A few moments later, Jurgen looks quite different, but still as exhausted.]
...Ah. Well, that's an unconventional way of getting it done. Come, let's get you to the Pokemon Center.

The pressure is too much for good old Shoga. Most of the time he stayed away from the rest of the team, huddled in a corner of the Pokecenter, or staring into the pond. The first hour Kiryu thought he should simply give Shoga some space, but after a while he decided to approach, at the pond]
I dunno how that feels, but I'm here. It'll be a while before you get used to all that, so take it easy.
[He awkwardly pats Shoga's back]
Just let it all out.
[Rant, cry, roar, do whatever you want, Shoga. And indeed, what he does is immediately hug Kiryu, pulling him close and giving him a borderline spine-shattering hug. Not having expected that, all Kiryu can do is return the hug.
That's his life right now, he's hugging a purple 1.5 tall big former-rabbit-now-lizard monster, who's currently sobbing all over his shoulder.
Later, though, the consequences of being on close contact with Shoga show themselves. Just a mild case of poisoning, nothing some medicine and resting can't solve. Kiryu rests at a couch at the Pokecenter, with his entire team all around him. Even Ni is out of her Pokeball, coiled behind him.
They're all guarding him, and Shoga is very contrite about having caused his current state. It'll be a bit of a rough night for everyone, but they'll cope with it]

In the afternoon, you'll find that Yuri's done just that. He's set out a bunch of berries and is sitting a little further away with all three of his Pokémon watching curiously. The grass rustles and out pops a Gible, she waddles over to the berries, completely ignoring Yuri and his Pokémon.]
What do you guys think?
[Roc looks like she's thinking about picking a fight and Dein Nomos seems indifferent, but Rukeno nods after studying the Gible for a bit.]
Good enough!
[Yuri approaches, crouching down near the Gible and holding out a hand for her to sniff.]
Hey, buddy. My name's Yuri. You want to come with us?
[The Gible finishes off the last of the berries (there were a lot of them?? damn) and turns to look at Yuri's hand. For a moment, it seems like nothing is going to happen. Then she takes a big ol' bite.]
Ow! Hey, come on—! What kind of greeting is that!?
[In the evening, Yuri can be found in the Pokémon Center. His hand's bandaged, but it doesn't look like Gible did all that much damage. The Pokémon's with him too, so it seems as though he's made a new friend. She's chowing down on some more berries while Yuri sits nearby on the floor, as usual.]
You really do eat a lot, huh? Maybe I'll call you "Bitey".

[...He had to admit that something about Cynthia still bothered him, even if he'd perhaps been more confrontational than was called for. Maybe it was projecting, maybe it was unfounded suspicion, maybe it was a thousand other things he could have been overreacting about--but even knowing that he couldn't help being wary of her. He'd just have to speak a bit more cautiously from here on out, that was all; hardly any new concept. For now, he distracted himself by resupplying at the shop, and later in the afternoon leaving an old standby at the Pokemon Center. Even then he seemed a little lost in thought, more following Hemera's guidance automatically than navigating the town through his own mental image of points A to B.]
[Sometime around sunset he'd inevitably seek out Noctis, approaching with a light hand on his shoulder once the advisor tracked down the unmistakably familiar footsteps.]

So that's about the shape of Emmeryn's day.
Come the early evening, some shit is absolutely going the fuck down, and that isn't exactly beside the point but more an explanation to the point: Duma has managed somehow to escape Emmeryn's ever-watchful care and wandered off on his own. Our favorite disaster orb has to take his sweet time hauling his way across the city and then to Route 111, and while he may be willing to entertain some conversation along the way, he has places to be and won't be slowed down anymore than his terrible shell vessel requires. Up the mountain path he goes, if you decide follow his little journey, and along the mountainside, high as he can go. Slowly, Duma waddles his way over to the cliff's edge—
And fucking flings himself off it.
okay so actually if you look down he's just picking himself back up outta the dirt and restarting the steady climb back up the mountain like absolutely nothing happened but if you DON'T look down duma may as well have just fucking died. later losers]
