Week 13.

WEEK 13 The trip to Celestic Town is an unconventional one, though it's infinitely faster than walking and doesn't leave everyone feeling woozy in the same way that teleportation does. The town itself is a small one, though it's scenic, and there's a sort of beauty to it that's very rustic in nature; it's surrounded on both sides by mountainous routes that you're welcome to go on to both the west and the east, though it wouldn't be recommended that you venture too far out, seeing as they can be on the dangerous side for those who are unfamiliar with them. It seems Cynthia was right about one thing - there was certainly an incident at Lake Verity that went off almost as soon as you left, another of those deep pulses echoing through the surrounding area; it seems that whatever Mesprit did can be felt by the region as a whole, given that Celestic Town and the surrounding areas seem to have been affected as well despite being so far east of the lake. Cynthia herself can be found throughout the town for the duration, should anyone want to speak to her. Sometimes when left to her own devices, she can be seen in the company of a little girl who looks very similar to herself; sometimes she's with a pair of people much older. Either way, the family resemblance is strong. Lucas is here as well; he's still willing to speak to anyone that wants to, though he seems a bit subdued. Either way, it's been a long, harrowing trip so far; hopefully spending some time here will help to rejuvenate you. [Michael keeps one hand on Lena's head, and puts another on her back. That's about as much as he knows to do.

Belatedly, he realizes that his obvious dicomfort with comforting someone doesn't really speak well to that whole understanding of emotion he was insisting that he had the other day. Michael narrows his eyes, looking away.]

Yeah, sure.

Um...

[Sena's not really sure if he should say this, but in the end he pipes up. Damn his irregular bursts of courage!]

I might be overstepping a little by saying this, but...um...I think you two might be able to relate to each other. Help each other a little. With, uh, this.

[Michael turns that narrowed gaze back onto Sena.]

Whatever do you mean?

[He asks in a faintly warning tone, the kind that implies he knows very well what you mean and is sort of hoping that he can make you back down from it.]

I-I, uh, I mean...

[Hieeeeee. He's not unused to this type of glaring, but why do you have to be so scary-!]

I mean, er...Pokemon, that came from eggs, they've spent their whole time just...gradually getting feelings back, right? Maybe Pokemon we caught are old enough that they know what things were like before, but the ones that came from eggs definitely don't, so now that Mespirit's given them all back at once it's probably a huge, um...rush?

[Yes, that's obvious. So?]

I've had all my feelings this entire time, same as anyone else in the group.

[So what are you suggesting]

He feels like he's about to say something really scary.]

Um...I think having them and expressing them are...um...two different things...

I've expressed plenty of feelings.

[Like, uh. Anger and confusion. And anger's lesser cousin, irritation. Schadenfreude is a big one too, can't forget that!]

Yeah, but not um...all of them. At once.

...nobody expresses every emotion simultaneously. That's not a thing.

[It's a derail, but also that genuinely does not make a lot of sense to him.]

No, but that's kinda what it feels like when you get um...overwhelmed.

[He pokes his fingers together, not really noticing when the Gligar decides to get the hell out of dodge. The tension here is hella awkward, man.]

Plus, that's pretty much what happened when Mespirit got released, wasn't it? Look at how all the Pokemon are acting.

[Vee and Monta are still snapping at each other a small ways away.

And Nin went back to join them. Again.

Sigh.]

[...that actually makes a few things about what happened yesterday click for him. And he hates it.]

Sena, I am an eternal being far beyond your comprehension. I do not get overwhelmed.

[despite any and all evidence to the contrary!]

[Somehow, a surreal claim like that actually seems to calm him. It honestly sounds like one of those exaggerated claims Hiruma would make up to bluff his way into some kind of victory. Even if it is true (and Sena holds no doubts that it definitely is), that doesn't change what Sena's about to say.]

Everyone gets overwhelmed sometimes.

[He should know. He's even seen Hiruma at his worst, when Agon outsmarted them all, when at those very last few seconds before Monta revealed how he had saved them all, that quiet resignation...

He doesn't want to see that again.]

It...um. It's just that everyone gets overwhelmed by different things.

[Whether it's by something far beyond their scope...or just their own weakness.]

What matters is how they face that. [He blinks, then waves his hands sheepishly..] I-I mean, at least that's what I think is important about it...

Well. I'm sure that's a very applicable thing for you mortals.

[And also if he did get overwhelmed, he'd handle it just fine, thank you very much?

Is there some reason you're telling me this?

[Yes, he said that under his breath. Yes, he instantly looks like he regrets saying that because Yes, you totally heard that regardless.]

And if this mortal body dies, I'll continue being just fine. But okay, I'll bite - what's the reason?

[He fidgets with the empty potion bottle in his hands, his face a mix between defiance and "I'd rather be anywhere else but here right now, help."]

It just...felt like something about Mespirit's cave upset you. You've been, um...moody.

Mesprit was a jerk, that's all. I'm fine.

Lena, meanwhile, is a little sniffly still, but seems to be making a recovery. And starting to notice how tense her trainer is. She's...not sure what she should do with that, though?]

I'm pretty sure everyone else wouldn't say that.

[He didn't think Mespirit was a huge jerk?

Anyways, Shell just kind of...decides to drop off of Sena's head for a bit. For once. So Lena gets to deal with it hovering ominously between the two trainers, although maybe it's looking at her, too? It's kinda hard to tell with those...eyes? Those are eyes, right?]

That's because you're all idiots who start crying and telling your life stories to any random person who asks, apparently.

[like. that kinda happened.]

You could at least try to have some dignity.

[Lena, meanwhile is.......even more unsure now.] Hi?

[Mespirit wasn't exactly a person, but.]

It worked, didn't it? I'm not sure what's undignified about that.

[Michael sneers.]

Of course you don't. Maybe next time you can all have a sleepover and talk about your crushes.

[Sena's not entirely sure, but he thinks you might be making fun of him. Maybe.]

That's...something that happens normally, isn't it? I wouldn't be surprised if it already hasn't happened by now...

[They've all been camping together for how long now, Michael?]

Ugh.

[That's the last thing he needs, humans kissing all around him. He was happy enough when it was Eleanor and Chidi, but those are his friends, and...well, these are his friends too, mostly, but that was just different.]

You seriously don't see how happily providing a list of all your weaknesses to anybody who asks for it is a bad plan?

We're not exactly giving them out to everyone that asks. [Just Mesprit. And the other, uh, gods.]

Besides, it's not a weakness to feel things, or to share that you do.
