Week 13.

WEEK 13

The trip to Celestic Town is an unconventional one, though it's infinitely faster than walking and doesn't leave everyone feeling woozy in the same way that teleportation does. The town itself is a small one, though it's scenic, and there's a sort of beauty to it that's very rustic in nature; it's surrounded on both sides by mountainous routes that you're welcome to go on to both the west and the east, though it wouldn't be recommended that you venture too far out, seeing as they can be on the dangerous side for those who are unfamiliar with them.

It seems Cynthia was right about one thing - there was certainly an incident at Lake Verity that went off almost as soon as you left, another of those deep pulses echoing through the surrounding area; it seems that whatever Mesprit did can be felt by the region as a whole, given that Celestic Town and the surrounding areas seem to have been affected as well despite being so far east of the lake.

Cynthia herself can be found throughout the town for the duration, should anyone want to speak to her. Sometimes when left to her own devices, she can be seen in the company of a little girl who looks very similar to herself; sometimes she's with a pair of people much older. Either way, the family resemblance is strong.

Lucas is here as well; he's still willing to speak to anyone that wants to, though he seems a bit subdued.

Either way, it's been a long, harrowing trip so far; hopefully spending some time here will help to rejuvenate you.

I can't say it was an uncomfortable journey in the strictest sense.

[because he was on a giant cloud]

Just...very disorienting. I hope yours was a bit better.

Honestly, it was more comfortable than flying with Revali was... not that I would have told him. [ A shrug. ] They made sure to support us, to be sure!
discutio: (that's dragging me down)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-08-27 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear it. Most of you sounded less than impressed with the particular choice in flight partners.

hyruglyphics: (These are probably)

[ Zelda is a weirdo... ok... ]

It may have been more pleasant with a large bird, like Highwind? But to be honest, I was glad to be supported. After all I've... never ridden a bird before.

[we love and support princess weirdo]

I've only ever been rider to birds on the ground. Flying on one is something of a new experience for me as well.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind, if you'd like to ride him for a bit sometime.

Birds on the ground...?

[ Uh? Huh? What?

That said, she looks a little interested, and to make her interest more obvious she claps her hands together, muted as it is with the gloves. ]

But, yes, that might be nice! ... Though I suppose I shall mostly be flying with the Drifblim, if we ride again on the air.

Chocobos--they're bipedal birds that were domesticated to run on most terrain.

Judging by how this trip went, I'd not be surprised if a handful of us went looking for flight-capable birds to catch before we leave.
hyruglyphics: (so like I'll get some better)

Honestly, I keep wondering about the utility of my Pokémon in general between that and getting across the lake. A lot of them are quite heavy set.

[ . . . That said, ]

... And they can be ridden?
discutio: (setting fire to the sky)

I'd say you're quite set for travel over land, at the very least.

[And on that note:]

Yes--ordinarily one would use a chocobo to cross lands unsuitable for an ordinary road. Dense forests, for one example. They're also quite adept on rocky landscapes.

As long as there's space enough for Bosphoramus.

[ . . . But that's- ]

Oh... they do sound quite useful, actually. They must be very agile to work so well through a forest!
discutio: (trade your heroes for ghosts)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-08-30 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Incredibly so, yes. They're very friendly creatures, and carry riders for considerable time periods without issue.
hyruglyphics: (weeee)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-08-31 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
They must be as valuable as horses for your people, then!
discutio: (cold comfort for change)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-08-31 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
We don't have those, so far as I'm aware. Camilla seemed rather startled when I told her as much, so I take it they're common for you as well?
hyruglyphics: (for me!!)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-09-01 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... oh yes, they are. They're perhaps the main mode of transportation for people?
