WEEK 13

The trip to Celestic Town is an unconventional one, though it's infinitely faster than walking and doesn't leave everyone feeling woozy in the same way that teleportation does. The town itself is a small one, though it's scenic, and there's a sort of beauty to it that's very rustic in nature; it's surrounded on both sides by mountainous routes that you're welcome to go on to both the west and the east, though it wouldn't be recommended that you venture too far out, seeing as they can be on the dangerous side for those who are unfamiliar with them.

It seems Cynthia was right about one thing - there was certainly an incident at Lake Verity that went off almost as soon as you left, another of those deep pulses echoing through the surrounding area; it seems that whatever Mesprit did can be felt by the region as a whole, given that Celestic Town and the surrounding areas seem to have been affected as well despite being so far east of the lake.

Cynthia herself can be found throughout the town for the duration, should anyone want to speak to her. Sometimes when left to her own devices, she can be seen in the company of a little girl who looks very similar to herself; sometimes she's with a pair of people much older. Either way, the family resemblance is strong.

Lucas is here as well; he's still willing to speak to anyone that wants to, though he seems a bit subdued.

Either way, it's been a long, harrowing trip so far; hopefully spending some time here will help to rejuvenate you.

[It's...difficult, to find words to explain what goes through his mind at that. Would he do it, if hired? Yes. But...]

...I wouldn't like it, but I'd do it. You get into work like mine and you don't get to have feelings about it. A job's a job. Everyone's equal.

[ She softly exhales. In a way, the admission is disappointing to her. She doesn't doubt it (she has no reason to - as she said, he knows him better than she can) but it does... it is a shame. She takes her gaze off of him and looks to the mural again. It's cruel, the idea a job being a job. That there would be things like that, even when there are monsters to be dealt with?

How... sad.

It's like the Sheikah, in a way, but perhaps with more corrupt masters? Maybe? ]

Well, ... Then I did misunderstand, just a little.

It's not your fault. I'm trying not to do that shit anymore. Just put the damn bullets in the people that deserve it, instead of getting paid to do it to the people who don't.

Legacies and shit are kind of a big deal to you, yeah? You mention destiny and bloodlines and stuff that you're expected to do because of who you are and where you came from.

[ Are they important to her? She's not sure if they're important "to her" they're just... important. She is Zelda. Zelda is the princess who seals the darkness. She is her father's daughter, she is the heir to Hylia's power and to the Triforce itself, in a sense. It just... was.

But she nods all the same at him, looking up to confirm that she is listening if he wants to speak. ]

...That guy I told you about. The one who changed everything about himself and became a fucking monster so he could end the world. The one who used to be human once.

Before all that happened, back when he was still human, he was my father.

Legacies and birthrights and shit are great when they're picking who's going to save mankind. Not so much when they're pointing out who we can all expect to fucking destroy it.

[ . . . Oh.

... Oh. That's... ]

What a... That must be something that weighs terribly on you. I'm sorry to - [ . . . hear that? How forced does she sound? So thinks of when they lightly mocked how off Emmeryn can feel, even in the warmth. Instead, trying to make out- mmm ] ... Were there those who held that legacy against you?

...They used my blood to try to end the world a few times. Made their weapons stronger with it. I got experimented on a lot. I spent six months locked up somewhere getting pretty much every medical test you can think of done on me, and a bunch more that I don't really want to describe. I also got to listen to them talk shit about him nonstop for those six months, that's why I know so much about him.

[His words are pretty...weirdly clinical, though. Straightforward, lacking their usual bite, for better or worse.]

It's over with now. And I'm not gonna be like him, I already made that decision a long time ago. But I'm kind of a popular guy with the wrong people, and it's pretty much my dad's fault.

[ Who is They she can't help but wonder but that...'s - That's so cruel. That's awful, honestly. And the princess sort of stands there uselessly for a moment until...

She reaches a hand out to gently put it on his arm, tugging a little on the sleeve. Obviously, that's something he's not - how could anyone deal with it? But she frowns all the same. Her touch is meant to be a comfort, or least acknowledgement she's here too. ]

[Oh, that's... It kind of shakes him out of it a little, though he doesn't try to shrug her off at all; he just kind of...breathes a bit, and when he speaks again it's shifted back closer to how it usually tends to be.]

Hey, no, I'm okay. It's kind of a lot to deal with, I guess I don't usually give myself a lot of time to think about it. But there's not really all that much to do but think about stuff here, you know?

But I promise I'm okay. I'll get some sleep and get over it.

You should sleep more, yes.

[ She frontloads that, coming off a little bit cheeky as a result, her voice thick, not quite wet just yet, but perhaps a little emotional. She tugs on his sleeve, holding it closer to herself and... ]

... But that- I may be a little bit naive, but I know that those horrors are not things to be slept off in one night. I know you'll be okay but... that isn't the same as it being alright.

Someone's gotta keep an eye on all of you.

[It's light, though. Kind of negating all that talking he was doing about how he'd kill everyone here for pay, yeah - or at least lessening it a bit. Because that's not the circumstance now, and it's not going to be a position he's going to willingly put himself into.

Put the bullets into the people who deserve it.]

And yeah, it's not... It isn't all right, I guess, but I'm pretty sure it's one of those things that you've got to just move on from. It sucks, but you've got to do whatever you can to keep your world turning.

[ She shakes her head, almost looking amused at that. She wants to push back on it, and perhaps she will, but instead the princess simply keeps that same grip and, ]

Keep your world turning... yes. That does sound right. [ Like her, walking forward despite the memories. Like Hyrule, which needs to rebuild. She- ] ... After all, we are both still young [ She adds as a callback to when she thought hr was older than he was- ] It may well be that we haven't yet done our greatest achievements.

[ She can't make that sound completely sincere, not really. She fulfilled her destiny. But... she can hope for it. For both himself and for him too, of course. But she tries to say it in a lighthearted way, perhaps even joking. ]

Yeah, maybe.

[He doesn't sound like he's dismissing it; he sounds kind of pleased with it, actually.

There's a pause, though, once that's out there; thinking again, but not about anything nearly so damn heavy.]

Can I ask you for a stupid favor sometime?

Oh yes, of course..

[ She lets go of his sleeve finally and steps back, smiling and meeting her hands in front of herself.

Miphanus has interested itself in looking at the shrine back there... ]

I don't really do sentimental bullshit, and I definitely don't want to do it now because the lighting's shit. But maybe sometime, could I take pictures of you? I've got something that can keep a bunch of 'em, and I kinda want to have some of some of the people here.

[ ... ! Oh! That's!!

She beams, putting a hand to the Sheikah Slate on her belt. She'd taken some selfies there... but! ]

Oh no, of course! I would positively love to!

...Okay. Good, good, I'm glad.

[this is so awkward but he's trying so hard zelda oh my god how do we people]

... Despite the lighting I would take one now with my Slate, were it not being full of Daroh now.
