Week 13.
WEEK 13 The trip to Celestic Town is an unconventional one, though it's infinitely faster than walking and doesn't leave everyone feeling woozy in the same way that teleportation does. The town itself is a small one, though it's scenic, and there's a sort of beauty to it that's very rustic in nature; it's surrounded on both sides by mountainous routes that you're welcome to go on to both the west and the east, though it wouldn't be recommended that you venture too far out, seeing as they can be on the dangerous side for those who are unfamiliar with them. It seems Cynthia was right about one thing - there was certainly an incident at Lake Verity that went off almost as soon as you left, another of those deep pulses echoing through the surrounding area; it seems that whatever Mesprit did can be felt by the region as a whole, given that Celestic Town and the surrounding areas seem to have been affected as well despite being so far east of the lake. Cynthia herself can be found throughout the town for the duration, should anyone want to speak to her. Sometimes when left to her own devices, she can be seen in the company of a little girl who looks very similar to herself; sometimes she's with a pair of people much older. Either way, the family resemblance is strong. Lucas is here as well; he's still willing to speak to anyone that wants to, though he seems a bit subdued. Either way, it's been a long, harrowing trip so far; hopefully spending some time here will help to rejuvenate you. Cyrus is a difficult man to reckon with. Even outside of what he's done to our Legendary Pokémon, he's incredibly stubborn, and his willpower is... Well, it would be admirable if he didn't dedicate it to such terrible things.
I've never been able to understand him. I've...considered that a personal failing of mine, one of many.

It's different, when it's people you know.
[Bucky absolutely hates the guy and hasn't even met him, but you know. He's not here for killing him, either.]

[...]
I imagine all of you still want to try to stop him.

[He laughs quietly.]
Try telling that to twenty-some others, though.

[It seems warm, not condescending or like she's trying to just pat him on the head. She honestly does approve of not...instigating anything with that.]
Hopefully the others will come around someday.

If there's time to tell them all, maybe they'll catch on.

It's a noble thing, what your friends are trying to do. I'm not going to try to say that it isn't, and I don't mean to diminish the importance of it.
But noble things aren't always the right things. There's a difference. It took me a long time to learn that.
no subject
[It's not like he can consider himself all that noble, anyway. He might be against killing people, but that doesn't mean he's not in favor of punching them down so they won't be getting back up anytime soon.]
At the same time, I'm not exactly the sort of person to know what the right thing is, in this case.

Especially considering we're a bunch of people who have found ourselves in the middle of a conflict in a world we're not familiar with. Seems kind of egotistical to me, to assume any of us knows what's the right thing to do.

You've put a lot of thought into this.

I spent a long time alone with myself and my thoughts, I've been thinking through every scenario I can for years.
[It's probably terribly unhealthy, but old habits are hard to kick.]

No arguments there. It's not something I'd recommend.

[And he does, because it's not like it's logical thinking on his part.]
I have one more question for you. Do you have any idea what might have happened to the three Galactic leaders? Jupiter indicated she couldn't get in contact with Saturn, and we didn't think much of it, until Mars told us she couldn't reach either of them.
[It's not accusatory, but she is in the best position to know whether or not Cyrus might have decided to reprogram his followers.]
no subject
[Hm...]
I admit I hadn't heard anything about that; you're sure it's not just a communication problem?
no subject
I don't think so. I would have, had it just been Saturn. He didn't strike me as the most... reliable, of the three. But Mars made it clear she couldn't get in contact with Jupiter, either.
She blamed it on us, but I've got a feeling Cyrus had something to do with it.
