Week 14.

WEEK 14

Sunday is a rough day all around; it's for the best that you remain where you are for the day, for the sake of regrouping and recovering, and perhaps getting some sleep - assuming that any will come. However, as difficult though it may be (and as futile though it may seem) Monday is likely best seen as a day to depart - a day to start to take whatever actions can still be taken, and to assess where to go from here. A good place to start is Canalave City; it's where you were going to meet with Cynthia, and where you were planning on looking into the legends of Sinnoh. The city itself is beautiful, a massive port town split down the center by a large canal system filled with boats and clear water leading out to sea; however, the recent changes to the world have affected this place as well, perhaps making it a bit difficult to enjoy the city in its entirety.

However, the library is here, as are several other points of interest; as difficult though it may be to see the world like this, the trip here will hopefully be worth your while in the end...

CURRENT LOCATION: CANALAVE CITY
POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES
SURROUNDING ROUTES: PLAINS/FOREST / NEAR WATER

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week fourteen of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due this weekend!]

semistableman: (♟ i wonder)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-09-07 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Me too.

I don't exactly think anyone else should go in there until we have a plan.
eudaimonikos: (an essay concerning human understanding)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-07 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Ah - there was - there's something in the hotel.

[He seems satisfied by Keith's answer, but starts to pace the floor anyway, like he needs to burn off some nervous energy.]

It did something, I think I was there all night.
semistableman: (✪ maybe you're a sinner)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-09-07 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Probably not a normal ghost Pokemon. But a deity might have some unique ability.
eudaimonikos: (that's guided to you)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-07 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
What is he, one of the shitty fish?

[He knows how it is to have a shitty fish you can't send into battle!]
divinedescendant: (and you're down for the count)

[personal profile] divinedescendant 2018-09-07 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[yeah because that's how you start a conversation. she glances at her little book pile and then back at Michael, a little bewildered, but only for half a moment.]

I have been doing my own reading as well. I was just curious what other people made of the stories.
eudaimonikos: (philosophical fragments)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-07 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well, no, that was my point. Making the building look haunted is a bad cover.

[uggggh, fuck this]

It doesn't even really matter why it's there - what are we supposed to do with it? We came here to try and recruit them, but that one's a jackass.
eudaimonikos: (meno)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-07 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the stuff about the lake deities sounded pretty familiar. And I don't know if I get the point of the sword one. It seemed to sort of cut off suddenly?

[where did the pokemon disappear to, story?]
semistableman: (❆ like she told me)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-09-07 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe for Galactic? The people here seem fairly respectful of Pokemon when they have their spirits intact.

[Who knows why Galactic isn't going after this one, though. Maybe a Pokemon that controls nightmares isn't exactly something they need when they already control everything.]

I don't know. It's not like I want to go test the idea myself, but maybe it's not something it can control. Like how Uxie looking at you removes all of your memories.
discutio: (walk-on part in the war)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-09-07 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I don't want anyone else dealing with that, especially not alone. If or rather when we return, we do it as a group.
divinedescendant: (they stole your shoes and brought you to)

[personal profile] divinedescendant 2018-09-07 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, nothing particularly noteworthy, unfortunately... But I have been doing my own reading, and I was curious to hear other perspectives on the stories.
divinedescendant: (with pins in your fingers)

[personal profile] divinedescendant 2018-09-07 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that one did leave some explanations unsaid, but I hadn't much considered that... I thought it a sort of cautionary tale, and an origin story, but I do wonder whose.
omissions: (the circus is in town)

[personal profile] omissions 2018-09-07 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice to meet you, Natto.

[Ari will release his own Pokemon, an Espurr!]

This is my Pokemon that I'll battle with, Nya.

[The Espurr... just stares, with it's thousand yard stare at the other Pokemon and Atsushi.]
omissions: (the circus is in town)

[personal profile] omissions 2018-09-07 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[So Ari got up early this morning so that he could train with his Pokemon, so if you are an early riser, maybe you too will be able to meet up with him at the nearby route to train with. Or, you'll come just in time to catch a glimpse of his Pokemon, Klink, when it suddenly start glowing after winning a battle against one of his other Pokemon.

When the light fades, it... sure is still gears! Though it seems as if one of them flipped around to face the other side, and now a larger gear appears to have spontaneously come into existence? Evolution sure is weird. Still, Ari pats the bigger gear's... face(?).]

Good job, Yuu.

[Later, you can catch both Ari and Heyuu at the library, as he decides to investigate just on the off chance he can find a book that will tell him what his Pokemon has evolved into now. However, he finds himself getting a bit lost, or even distracted with picking at other books that stand out.]

It's so much smaller than the World Library... but at least these books are probably safer to look at...
enjoymyatelier: kayneth fooling you into thinking he's a cool dude by standing in the shadows (i am the terror that flaps in the night)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-07 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wellllll.... Velasquez does turn to Atsushi and starts to nod, but Huginn caws a bit indignantly at him, causing a bit of an argument that essentially boils down to NO, WE'RE OUR TRAINER'S MOST TRUSTED POKEMON, WE CAN DO THIS OURSELVES and BUT WE DON'T KNOW HOW ANY OF THIS WORKS... ALL THESE COINS LOOK THE SAME TO ME! which is met by THEY'RE ALL VERY SHINY WHICH MEANS THEY MUST BE ABLE TO BUY MUCH FOOD...

...this goes on for a bit, but eventually they seem to reach a compromise where Velasquez takes half the Pokebucks coins and Huginn somewhat huffily takes the other half to try and figure things out herself. Velasquez then kind of shrugs at Atsushi.... and then nods again.]
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-09-07 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, more myths are true than you'd think... but even if it is just a myth, it certainly seems like this arrangement has been going on long enough that it's had time to slip into myth.
eudaimonikos: ('cause everything else)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-07 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Fat lot of good that does us. How are we supposed to go talk to it if it just does that every time?
eudaimonikos: (one look from you)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-07 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It didn't go anywhere. Human myths generally end with...the creation of the world, or the discovery of fire, or something, right?
eudaimonikos: (start over again and again)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-07 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Strange.

[Michael frowns more attentively at Lucian now.]

I can understand their own minions being like that, just for the sake of organizational control. Maybe it's because the Elite Four are such strong trainers...though, again, you're just fine. [I can't even recall if we ICly know she's the Champion but we sure do know she got game]
eudaimonikos: (as many times)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-07 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They're going to come out perfectly, Sena. That's the point of the plan. See, I've identified all the most common ingredient ratios - and some of the weird ones, I don't think nuts are supposed to be in there...

Also, I did some math - [He flips to a whole new page of crazy, there is more to this than Sena has seen.] - to work out the appropriate distribution of chocolate chips. You have to account for a few different variables, it's really very interesting.

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-09-07 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[smite him first somehow?

...honestly he can't really imagine how that would work, but the mental image of a chibi Cyrus getting randomly zapped by thunderbolts and reduced to a pile of ashes is...um.

It's something.]

No...I guess not...
swiftasacoursingkawa: icon by me (this isn't good)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-09-07 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
So...er...

[Sena doesn't understand head nor tails of all these notes, and the slowly growing fearful expression on his face says it all.]

How...um. Are you gonna pick the right..."ratio"?
eudaimonikos: (consequences)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-08 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I think most of it can be extrapolated from the common patterns...but I could use some input. How many chocolate chips do you think a cookie should have, just on average?
swiftasacoursingkawa: icon by <user name=kufufutofu =livejournal.com> (uuuweeehhh)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-09-08 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
H-huh...?

[That's...um. Sudden.]

I guess it depends on the size, but, er...maybe like...eight or ten?

[A perfectly average answer.]
eudaimonikos: (start over again and again)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-08 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Michael nods, writing that down in a margin with Sena's name attached.]

I'm assuming average sized chips. The size of the cookies appears to be somewhat variable - which is fine, I can work with that.
bloodspent: (07. they're all the same)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-09-08 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Huh.

[That's so weird. Cool, though. But weird.]

We've got a few people with superpowers running around, but those are usually the ones who were exposed to the virus somehow and managed to not just fall over and die. My friend had it but was cured, and now she can heal from anything. Apparently there was some other guy who could just take all the benefits - like strength and healing and durability and stuff - and never actually get sick because of the antibodies he had in his blood. No gods or anything, though.
