Week 14.

WEEK 14 Sunday is a rough day all around; it's for the best that you remain where you are for the day, for the sake of regrouping and recovering, and perhaps getting some sleep - assuming that any will come. However, as difficult though it may be (and as futile though it may seem) Monday is likely best seen as a day to depart - a day to start to take whatever actions can still be taken, and to assess where to go from here. A good place to start is Canalave City; it's where you were going to meet with Cynthia, and where you were planning on looking into the legends of Sinnoh. The city itself is beautiful, a massive port town split down the center by a large canal system filled with boats and clear water leading out to sea; however, the recent changes to the world have affected this place as well, perhaps making it a bit difficult to enjoy the city in its entirety. However, the library is here, as are several other points of interest; as difficult though it may be to see the world like this, the trip here will hopefully be worth your while in the end... [Ignis had been very quiet since the whole incident with Cyrus; reticent and cold much as he had been in the earliest stages of their journey. He barely even commented on how much he still hated flying, though he might have looked a little pale for a while after they landed. Back in his uniform with his hair still unstyled and in his face, he spent a fair amount of time hovering not too far from Noctis. Only when eventually he was satisfied enough that the world wasn't going to end a second time without warning did he actually venture elsewhere.]

[Perhaps it was a little unexpected for him to be in the library for obvious reasons, but as far as he was concerned it would have been a poor decision not to. Besides, if nothing else he expected some of the others might want a sounding board for whatever they might discover. Hemera was back at his side, sticking perhaps much closer than she had in recent weeks.]

[Closer to what he thought must have passed for evening, Ignis decided to investigate the Harbor Inn--abandoned as he could tell it was, some exploration likely wouldn't hurt.]

[ He's here, to give Ignis a hand... and admittedly, because he's curious, too. Lepidia is nearby, as well as his little Houndour. ]

Hopefully we'll find some answers.

I'd not hold out hope for anything definitive; it's never quite that easy.

I think the local mythology a good place to begin in general, considering how little we actively know of the deities we're chasing after.

It'd be kind of an oversight if Galactic left books like that just out in the open.

[ Maybe prior to their arrival, it'd been fine. But after so many weeks, well...

At least it'll be beneficial to them. ]

You would be surprised what gets left out even in an attempted erasure of history.

[After all, he'd been busy finding just that with Talcott these past years. Hopefully, it wouldn't take nearly as long to uncover anything here.]

Besides, somehow I suspect they won't have thought of every single detail.

[Hey, Ignis! What're you doing in here, exactly?]

[discutio]

[An excellent question! Mostly he's checking out the inn's layout and whatever's left lying around through touch--objects, potential resources, possibly journals because he's from a JRPG with datafiles--and listening for anything/one moving around. Absol's with him to check for anything visually threatening.]

[The furniture all seems pretty standard for an inn, though weirdly there don't seem to be any resources left here - the front desk has a guestbook of sorts, but unfortunately it's not in Braille, so that's going to present a bit of a problem most likely. You can likely tell there's a lot logged in it just by touch and the depression of the pages and stuff, though, and that it seems to just kind of cut off abruptly.

Are you going to check the upper floors and stuff as well?]

[Fortunately enough, the Ace Detective can work with that well enough once he thinks to take his gloves off and check more closely. That certainly is an ominous sudden stop, noted to bring up with the others.]

[And, provided the whole floor isn't liable to collapse, the pair of them will indeed head upstairs. No point leaving things half-finished unless a whole horde of ghosts boots them out, after all.]

[The floor is thankfully not liable to collapse! Whatever stopped people from coming here, it doesn't seem to have been structural issues, which is probably good to know.

That said, the rooms are all unlocked, there don't seem to be any that aren't, if you try the doors. They seem like pretty standard hotel rooms, perhaps a little on the upscale side. Actually entering one of the rooms, though, will get you a fair amount of quiet before the sound of footsteps moving down the hall can be heard. Moving in the direction of the room you're in, not away; they don't seem to be in any particular rush, however, nor are they the heavy foreboding sort that sound like someone's on a mission to fuck your shit up. They're slower than that, almost casual in pace.]

[OH OKAY that is. probably fine. Ignis would just calmly step to the side of the door to avoid being seen right away if anyone came in, Hemera following suit quickly.]

[...He's not immediately going to throw down if someone walks in the room, but he's certainly ready for anything.]

[There's a brief pause outside of the room, but for whatever reason, no one enters the room; the steps continue on their way, receding down the hall at the same walking pace.]

[...well, looking out into the hall won't accomplish much, so let's see about following at a careful distance to find out where they're heading.]

[azumods]

[If they notice, they don't break pace; it seems they're heading into one of the rooms at the end of the hall - the door definitely opens down there, at any rate, and it doesn't close behind them.]

[discutio]

[On the scale of bad and reckless decisions, this is hardly the dumbest thing he's done.]

[So hey, screw it, let's open the door.]

[azumods]

[You know, it's fortunate that you're doing this so late in the day, because that way we're not rendering anything else you do today a hilarious time paradox.

In other words, you are going to walk through that door and remember absolutely nothing else you may or may not have done in that room.

It's immediate, the speed with which you pass out, though you won't remember hitting the floor; you won't remain on the floor, either, though whether that's welcome or creepy is a little difficult to say. When you wake up the next morning, you'll be lying on the bed like you just...decided to go to sleep there, though you certainly won't remember actually deciding to do that; the sleep wasn't particularly restful, either - in fact, it was sort of the exact opposite of that, given that you were plagued with nightmares all night. The nightmares are largely about encroaching darkness and isolation, as well as the inexplicable sense that something highly malevolent is aware of you and there's no shielding yourself from it.
