azume | Week 14.

WEEK 14

Sunday is a rough day all around; it's for the best that you remain where you are for the day, for the sake of regrouping and recovering, and perhaps getting some sleep - assuming that any will come. However, as difficult though it may be (and as futile though it may seem) Monday is likely best seen as a day to depart - a day to start to take whatever actions can still be taken, and to assess where to go from here. A good place to start is Canalave City; it's where you were going to meet with Cynthia, and where you were planning on looking into the legends of Sinnoh. The city itself is beautiful, a massive port town split down the center by a large canal system filled with boats and clear water leading out to sea; however, the recent changes to the world have affected this place as well, perhaps making it a bit difficult to enjoy the city in its entirety.

However, the library is here, as are several other points of interest; as difficult though it may be to see the world like this, the trip here will hopefully be worth your while in the end...

Sometimes you don't need someone to be great at it. And besides, everyone's gonna react differently. So maybe "It's gonna be fine, hell if I know how" won't work on some people, but that's really all I needed to hear.

I don't mind trying to help you out, you know. You've been good to me, so I'd like to return the favor whenever I can.

I'm not just saying that because it's me. I don't really expect anything from anybody here, I just do stuff for them because I want to.

Maybe I don't have to, but I want to. I'm pretty fond of you, after all.

...As long as you know you don't have to, I guess. I used to be really shitty about insisting on repayment for everything? So I'm trying to not do that kind of thing.

For what it's worth, you're doing a good job. Don't worry though, I'll be sure to keep an eye on you anyway, whether you need me to or not.

I try to be. Looking out for others has always been really important to me.

I believe it. It's not really something I've ever been too great at - I tried with my mom for a while, but that obviously didn't work out too well, and I've just been looking out for myself since then. Didn't even agree to help save the damn world without asking for fifty million dollars to start with.

[...He was not exaggerating when he said he used to be really shitty on the repayment front.]

Saving the world is a pretty big step. I guess I can get why you'd want to be paid for that.

On the one hand, yeah.

On the other, all they wanted was blood samples. All the stupid stuff came later.

Huh, really? Well, I'm glad to hear you're trying not to do the same sort of thing anymore. Honestly, I wouldn't have believed it if you hadn't told me yourself. You really have been trying to look out for all of us, after all.

Yeah, Sherry... She helped me out a lot with that sort of thing.

Sherry also tended to end up in immediate and very stupid trouble so often that it was easier to just pick her up and throw her out of the goddamn way half the time. Thankfully none of you have needed that.

You know, my first thought shouldn't have been to take that as a challenge, but here we are, I guess. I promise I'll try not to ever get myself in a position where you need to throw me out of the way.
