azume | Week 14.

WEEK 14

Sunday is a rough day all around; it's for the best that you remain where you are for the day, for the sake of regrouping and recovering, and perhaps getting some sleep - assuming that any will come. However, as difficult though it may be (and as futile though it may seem) Monday is likely best seen as a day to depart - a day to start to take whatever actions can still be taken, and to assess where to go from here. A good place to start is Canalave City; it's where you were going to meet with Cynthia, and where you were planning on looking into the legends of Sinnoh. The city itself is beautiful, a massive port town split down the center by a large canal system filled with boats and clear water leading out to sea; however, the recent changes to the world have affected this place as well, perhaps making it a bit difficult to enjoy the city in its entirety.

However, the library is here, as are several other points of interest; as difficult though it may be to see the world like this, the trip here will hopefully be worth your while in the end...

[well that all seems, as a starting point, less than ideal

Only after she starts running towards that splash does Emmeryn acknowledge to herself that she doesn't have a game plan here, she can't really swim, but, like—too late! She's here! Latona chases after her with Audhulma pop-pop-pop teleporting in tow, and Duma is...trying...his best......to catch up.

Emmeryn nearly slips herself but she has spent too long practicing her balance to plummet off of anything accidentally. Less elegant than usual, at the worst, she crouches down at the edge of the water. Latona edges in close behind her as she leans in.]

Are—Are you all right?!

[what even was that, are they gonna float back up, does someone need a hand up, is someone dead]

[It's probably a good thing that Atsushi himself can swim or else having his Pokemon away in their balls and unable to find help would have been...a problem. It's a few seconds later before Atsushi resurfaces with a loud gasp, holding the Buizel in his arms who doesn't seem to know what the fuck is going on at all, but it's not struggling or otherwise doing more than the nothing it had been doing.]

E-emmeryn-?

[He sputters, shaking his head to get his hair out of his face. How many times must these clothes get drenched before he stops...]

I-I'm fine, but- c-can you-

[He grunts, suddenly simba-holding the Buizel high over his head towards her.]

Take him? I'll try to g-get out.

Oh—yes, yes, of course, [even as she's already reaching to take the Buizel from him.] Latona, help him up, please.

[Only at the command does Latona lean in and reach forward for Atsushi; she hasn't quite got the angle to lift him right up out of the water but she makes for something sturdy to grab onto, and will help pull him up if he does take her outstretched arms.]

[Oh bless you Latona, you're a good mom. Atsushi reaches up and grabs onto her arms when they're offered, knowing that he probably won't be able to easily climb the slippery edge of the canal back out. Meanwhile, the Buizel he handed over to Emmeryn doesn't seem any worse for wear, which is a relief...even though he does feel a bit silly, now.]

Thank you...I lost my balance all of a sudden.

[Proud of herself, Latona sets her hands down heavy on Atsushi's shoulders once he's up and on his feet, and, without letting him go, gives him the slightest push forward to present him to Emmeryn. Tah-dah!]

Wonderful, Latona, thank you. Thank goodness you're safe, Atsushi; you and your friend.

[Once she's praised, Latona lets Atsushi go and just as smoothly takes the Buizel as Emmeryn hands him over. About now, Duma finally catches up, but of course absolutely everybody is too preoccupied to deal with his nonsense right this second.]

How fortunate that I could make it over—Here. [Sinnoh runs colder than she's used to so she's got a cardigan on over her dress, but she unbuttons it to pull over Atsushi's shoulders, practically automatically. Emm... Emm, shit like this is why you get introduced as mom?] We should get you into something dry... Are you all right?

[Now that he's on his feet again, Atsushi can move his hands to his shirt and start wringing it out, doing the same to his tie with a sigh.]

I-I'm okay. Just cold...

[He might wake up with the sniffles if he's not careful, but otherwise he's just. Wet, now. Not the first time, certainly not the last. He smiles when she puts the cardigan over his shoulders, though, even though he feels bad about getting it wet.]

Thank you...I uh. I thought that little guy there was in trouble, s-since he hadn't come up for air in a really long time. But...I guess he can just hold his breath longer than I thought.

Well, we know we can count on you if we're faced with proper danger. [She takes a quick moment to scratch under the Buizel's chin, but Latona makes no effort to hand it back. Guess that's hers now...] That was wonderfully brave of you, acting so quickly to rescue this little dear.

[Even though the Buizel's, like...obviously fine...... She takes a moment to pat Duma, who will die if left unacknowledged.]

We ought to make sure you're taken care of, before you catch cold. Are your things at the Center? We can have this one looked over while we're there, just in case.

[Atsushi isn't allowed to not be careful? Not while Emmeryn's here?? No sniffles allowed.]

[Take care of that soggy otter, Latona, for it lacks the care to take care of itself...despite still clearly being completely okay.]

Mm, they are. I would like to get him looked at too, yeah.

[Emmeryn what was that about you NOT being team mom again...]

I'm getting your cardigan all wet though...you sure this is okay?

[listen she never DENIED being team mom but she's got no fuckin right to be confused about it]

Hm? Oh, don't be silly. The purpose of a sweater is to keep warm with. [She waves her hand lightly, a dismissive gesture, before offering her arm to help Atsushi over to the Center. Yes she knows he's basically fine but look—] It will dry. Let's get you both inside.

[Well, Atsushi isn't going to argue with that logic. And if he's honest, he's also not going to argue with being doted on a little once in a while. Or a lot, if that's how Emmeryn chooses to be today.

Out of politeness, he takes her arm as it's offered, glancing back at Latona to make sure the Buizel isn't causing trouble (he isn't) before starting to head that way.]

I think I've had my fill of the water for a while, that's for sure.
