Week 10.

WEEK 10

You've found a few new friends this past week, and along with them, a new town to explore.

Granted, there doesn't seem to be much, particularly when compared to the cities you started out in; at the same time, the air is fresh with the scent of flowers and honey wafting on the breeze. Along with the usual Pokémon that can be found in populated areas, it seems that several Combees have made their home here - they can be found drifting along idly, seeming no more capable of true emotion than anyone or anything else, but perhaps they're trying their best. It's a little difficult to say; they are still bees, after all.

That said, the world continues to change around you, bit by bit; you still have a long way to go before you've saved everyone, but for the time being you should probably recharge, and take some time to sort through what should happen next. Talking to the locals may net you the information that there's something odd about the meadow north of town; perhaps a few of you should go to check it out...

CURRENT LOCATION: FLOAROMA TOWN
POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week ten of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend.]

Huh, really...? That does help a little...I guess.

[Not that he...knows what a Magikarp or a Gyarados even are.]

What do you mean by "evolve", though?
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-09 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...I should write up a primer to hand out to anyone else who shows up here.

But in any case, evolution is a bit like metamorphosis, except instantaneous? It's like if when a caterpillar made itself into a cocoon, it just sort of started glowing and suddenly was a cocoon, and then when it came time to emerge as a butterfly, the cocoon started glowing and suddenly there was a butterfly.

Except it happens to basically everything here regardless of whether it's an insect or not.

[...wow, what the fuck Pokemon.]

Basically everything? Even like...dogs and cats?
enjoymyatelier: actually, it totally will. (aha! a plan that will not end in failure)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-10 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Basically, yes. In those cases, it feels a bit more like a puppy suddenly becomes a dog in five seconds after staying a puppy indefinitely until you've trained it enough or exposed it to a stone of some kind or traded it.

Pokemon are very strange, and it's absolutely fascinating.

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-11 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[This is so much to process, but at the same time he's inclined to believe it without much pause, honestly. It might as well be something normal in this world, right?]

Strange for sure...have any of yours evolved yet?
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-12 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Not yet. I know one of them needs to be exposed to a certain type of stone to evolve, and I haven't had the opportunity to figure out where you even find the things yet. Aside from that, I think they all might be late bloomers.

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-13 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Well at least Atsushi won't feel left out in that respect. He doubts Chazuke will evolve any time soon.]

They won't be the same anymore if they evolve though, yeah? That might not necessarily be the best thing for them.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-14 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
They'll look different and be stronger, but I honestly haven't seen major personality changes from the Pokemon I have seen evolve. At least, not from the evolution.

...

Granted, they'll be a lot bigger, so it might be hard to keep them inside depending on how much bigger they do get.

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-14 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Atsushi gives his Wimpod a sidelong glance. Yeah, he does not foresee this little guy getting that much bigger.]

I guess if it's a natural thing too then the Pokemon probably doesn't usually mind it...it's kindof like metamorphosis like you said. Like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly...
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-14 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Or just growing up. Though, if your Pokemon evolve with some kind of stone, you could always just ask them if they want to. They've got minds, after all.
gekkaju: (39)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-15 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Atsushi nods, reaching over to pet the top of Chazuke's head with the tip of a finger.]

I'll definitely do that if it turns out any of mine evolve that way. I guess I won't know for sure though...I haven't been able to find much information on my starter yet.
enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-15 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, of course. You'll just have to work with your Pokemon, I think... and it's probably a good idea to catch another native Pokemon if you have trouble with your first one. I've found that Pokemon seem to do well even if they just watch another Pokemon battle or participate very minimally.
gekkaju: (36)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-15 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah? I guess I'll admit that I've been a little hesitant to try...I didn't really know how the wild Pokemon would react, you know? It feels sort of like capturing a wild animal to keep as a pet...

[Which is...a little hard to grasp at first.]
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-16 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
They're a bit different from animals, honestly. I think they're generally more likely to approach if they're open to the idea of being captured. It's more like making a contract with a familiar or something.
gekkaju: (52)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-16 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's not sure if that's better or worse...knowing that Pokemon are conscious beings, and all.]

I think I get you...so you're saying that they wouldn't let themselves be captured if they weren't okay with it, right? I mean, they're completely capable of fighting back and all.

[...that could be worded better but the sentiment still stands.]
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-18 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, exactly. I imagine at this point they have the capacity to run away if they don't want to be captured, so as long as you don't pursue ones like that, it should be fine.
gekkaju: (68)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-19 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll keep that in mind, then. Otherwise it's just getting used to the idea of having to hit one with a ball to capture it...
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-21 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not like you're beaning them over the head with it the way you would with one of those American baseballs or anything. I suppose it might hurt, but I've never actually gotten that impression...
gekkaju: (56)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-21 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah? I guess I wouldn't know, then...I haven't seen anyone actually use one before.
enjoymyatelier: he's only attractive when drawn by takeuchi (what a cool guy)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-23 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... well, I'd show you, but I only have room for one more Pokemon. I've read you can only have six on you at a time, and given the general state of things I don't feel like seeing what happens if you try to catch seven, so I want to make it count.
gekkaju: (69)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-24 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, that's alright! I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out whenever I decide I want to try catching something.

I didn't know that either, though...thank you for telling me. Is there any particular reason we can only have six, or...?
enjoymyatelier: i think he's fucking her navel (that position is bizarre and improbable)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-26 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not really that difficult, so don't worry too much about it, I suppose. And... I'm not really sure? It seems like it would be a bit difficult to handle more, but the actual number seems a bit arbitrary.
gekkaju: (65)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-28 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I'd want to have more than that around with me at once anyway...just having two or three is a lot on its own.
enjoymyatelier: :smith: (sola i'm dying)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-08-31 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
...well, I'll agree with you there, I suppose. It's definitely hard to make sure they all get the same amount of attention.

[...he has the decency to look a little ashamed over it...]
gekkaju: (11)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-08-31 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
N-not that having that many is bad of course! I think it's pretty cool that everyone has so many Pokemon...I'm almost a little jealous.
