Week 11.

WEEK 11 The meeting with Mars could have gone infinitely worse. It's difficult to say that it went well, admittedly, but at least it didn't go as poorly as it could have; either way, her departure leaves you free to look around the Valley Windworks, and it shouldn't take you long at all to find something interesting on the floor. It's bright yellow and glowing, set into the ground like any other normal part of the floor otherwise; stepping on it will cause the world to spin briefly in your field of vision, and when it straightens itself out again, you find yourself standing in the corner of the lobby of a large building you've never seen before. Welcome to the Jubilife TV station. The place seems staffed with Galactic grunts, but they leave you alone outside of just watching you in that dead-eyed, vaguely unnerving way they have of watching everything; they'll let you leave without a fuss at any rate, and it's probably for the best that you get yourself situated for the time being. After all, you've got an entire new city to get accustomed to. The people here seem to be trying to get themselves situated as well, though obviously that's for entirely different reasons. The world continues to change, around them and you both, and overall things do seem to be going in a direction that might be considered favorable. Noticeably, the grunts in the TV station don't seem to be changing at all, regardless of what happens to the other locals; that might be cause for some concern... [Ari was going to go for a walk with his Pokemon and then do some training, though with his Pokemon gathered, he frowns for a moment as he realizes that one of them is missing.]

Stanley? ... Where are you?

[He looks around for a bit, before... BOO! Stanley, now a Haunter, suddenly springs out, waving his hands and causing Ari to startle.]

What the... was that really necessary?

[The Pokemon, despite still having to get through some emotional hang ups, seems to be a little amused by their trainer's reaction nonetheless. As such, the Pokemon may attempt to do the same to anyone else that comes by, suddenly startling someone that comes near it.

Once Ari has gotten his ghost back under control, later you'll have Ari approach anyone that he sees out and about with their Pokemon.]

Hey... if you're not busy, could I ask you for a battle here?

[Well it's not like Kiryu has anything better to do right now. May as well help with this!]

Got anything in mind already? Is it to train a specific Pokemon or are we going all-out?

We can go all out, or just one on one if you prefer.

All out will work. I'm not used to holding back.

[Kiryu continues being as pleasant and polite as usual, but there's this increasing feeling of anticipation, like he has awaited this for a long time. He takes out his Pokeballs, looking at the handful with contemplative expression]

This is the time to see the result of our training. Whenever you're ready, Ari.

Okay... here we go!

[Ari decides to choose Marlene, his Glaceon, to step up first. What will you choose?]

[Not interested in having a Pokemon with a type advantage a friendly fight, he decides to go for a more neutral choice. Shoga should be good for this]

Do your best, Shoga!

[Out of the Pokeball comes the Nidorino, digging into the ground with its back legs already, getting himself ready for any impact. Looks like being the first to attack is not this Pokemon's style]

Okay... Marlene, use Icy Wind!

[The Pokemon opens it's mouth, breathing out a gust of ice to blow through the air and attempt to strike Shoga with!]

Out and About

[ Zelda's out with Miphanus floating behind her and Saber waddling as well. Saber is devouring a small bag of snacks that Zelda had gotten her a little earlier. The others are in their balls and she blinks before and, ]

Oh, certainly! I would not mind!

Good. Do you want to go all out, or would you prefer only using one or two?

[hyruglyphics]

[ She seems to consider a moment and then after glancing at the two who are out she ends up shrugging and, ]

I would not mind either challenge... perhaps it would be better to be all out?

Yeah, okay. Let's go somewhere more open then.

[Once they find a space for the battle, it looks like his Klink is already moving to take its place as the first Pokémon up here. What will Zelda use?]

[ Against Klink...

Well, Klink was Ari's first Pokemon, right? It seems a little presumptuous to use what is thus far her weakest one here, but in terms of types they probably have the biggest advantage. And as such, picking up a ball from her waist she sends out!

Her Alolan Geodude. Urbin. ]

Of course we shall return to the Center after this!

Of course.

[... And then there's a pause as Ari looks between the two Pokémon.]

Um... do you wanna make the first move, or should I?

Sudden Startle

[gekkaju]

[Unfortunately for Atsushi, he has yet to have a whole lot of experience with ghost type Pokemon...and he's never seen a Haunter before. He's walking past during one of these episodes in which Ari's Haunter pops up at him out of nowhere, causing him to cry out with surprise and stumble backwards...right onto his ass.

His Wimpod, who had been hanging out on his shoulder, scrambles up to perch atop his head, clinging to his scalp for dear life with all of his tiny legs.]

Oww...

[Well, the sound of Atsuhi falling gets his attention, and Ari comes over right away.]

I'm sorry, I don't know what's gotten into him lately. Are you alright?

[gekkaju]

I'm okay...

[Atsushi groans, though he doesn't move to stand up right away. He doesn't realize where his Wimpod has gone for a moment until he feels him trembling atop his head, exhaling a deep sigh.]

Should I be keeping an eye out for that from now on?

[omissions]

I... should hope not? I'll try to keep him from doing that again.

[gekkaju]

I'd appreciate that...

[Atsushi finally pulls himself up to his feet, rubbing where he hit the ground.]

I don't think we've met yet, uh...my name is Atsushi.

[omissions]

Oh... It's nice to meet you, Atsushi. I'm Ari.

[There's a pause before he remembers Haunter and points to them.]

And that's Stanley.

[Emmeryn is not the victim we get the best reaction out of in this situation—she doesn't startle easily, but she does gasp and take a little step back. More importantly, Duma, always walking at her side with the rest of her little party, squawks furiously, bows his head, and lunges at Stanley.

...Headbutt, however, is a normal-type move, so he just goes right through Stanley and eats shit in the dirt behind him.]

[Okay, that's the funniest reaction we've gotten so far, so Stanley is going to point and chuckle... gosh, what a rude ghost.]

[Ari PLEASE control your horrible gas cloud child!!! Although so far as Emmeryn has figured, this is just some wild asshole. She has to step around Latona, who has moved to stand protectively in front of her, in order to step around Stanley to go fuss over Duma as he picks himself up...]

Oh, dear, are you all right, darling? [That's the first order of business, and, Emmeryn waits until Duma is back on his feet and only whining a little to address a certain terrible dead person.] Haven't you other games to play than laughing at some poor dear's brave instinct to protect?

[stern!! she has mastered the scolding mom voice over the years, not that she ever thought she'd have to use it on a ghost?]

[At that, Stanley stops laughing, looking a tad confused perhaps at being scolded. Was that not supposed to be funny?

But hey, here's Ari coming now.]

Hey, there you are Stanley... ah.

[Hi Emmeryn and Pokémon pals, what's up.]

Did something happen?

Oh, good afternoon, Ari. [okay so this little shit DOES BELONG TO SOMEONE!!] Your companion gave Duma a little fright, but I think the worst bruises are on our pride.

[Duma's still kind of fuming, though... He's kind of always been a half-hair from a temper tantrum all week, though. Latona, at least, has settled down now that the apparent threat has passed.]

Oh... um, I'm sorry about that. I'll try to keep a better eye on him from now on.
