Week 2.
WEEK 2. The new week begins with new surroundings. The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason. Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way. From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there. Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important... POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY [OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!] |

He didn't sleep much in the Center, either, but it'd been easier there - not for comfort reasons, but rather because the Center was simple. One way in, one way out. If someone came in, he'd know about it. Outside, though... Outside there's a sense of hypervigilance pounding through his system that he can't shake off, especially since he doesn't have his weapons. He doesn't need the guns, but the weight of them was always comforting, and...
And, well, sleeping is out of the question, and morning finds him perched on one of those rock outcroppings, absently petting his Houndour and keeping an eye on the place the others decided to settle for the night, because we may not have set up an official watch but he's going to keep an eye on the place anyway.
He'll stay up there until everyone's ready to leave proper; he'll be sticking to the high ground for most of the morning until told to do otherwise, just because he likes it better up there. He seems to be having no trouble with the terrain, jumping from outcropping to outcropping easily; Lobanja follows him, because what the hell is self-preservation when one doesn't have feelings, and for the time being the adrenaline that comes with doing it is going a long way toward keeping Jake awake for now.
He'll be fine for today, but he's going to sleep really hard tonight, he can tell already.
That said, whenever a break is taken in the afternoon he can be found sitting off against a tree at the edge of the route, playing with that translucent blue cube he got from the warehouse. Apparently if it's flicked in certain ways it'll click open, revealing a few different displays amid softly glowing blue light; he seems to be looking for one in particular.]
Afternoon
It's during one of her pacing sessions that she spots Jake, and the sight of the object in his hands makes her jog over to him, unable to contain her curiosity.]
So that's what it does?
no subject
Yeah. It's...I don't know if you've got phones where you're from, or if you do I don't know if you call them that. But it's so you can talk to people long-distance, mostly.
[He flicks it again; the display shifts to a different options screen.]
Pretty sure you can take pictures and video and stuff with it, too.
no subject
So it's like a transmission device? It actually looks a bit similar to the sorts of technology we have back home!
[Seriously, it's kind of nice to see. For a moment, Rey just absorbs the details of the strange little device, before...]
...I know this is a stupid question, but...I'm guessing it doesn't work? The communication function, I mean.
no subject
[He's got maybe one person he'd want to call, anyway.]
You want to see that girl I was telling you about? Sherry, I mean.
no subject
At the mention of Sherry, however (and the promise of seeing more of the mysterious cube's features)...]
I'd love to.

morning
Thank you for keeping watch. [ As she's pretty sure that's what he's done here. ]
no subject
Yeah, don't mention it. I wasn't going to be able to sleep much, anyway.
no subject
[ She gently says, silently asking with a little nod if she might take a seat near him or not? She doesn't want to impose! ]
no subject
That's my thought, too. Especially now that we know there's at least one of them that can still think for himself.
no subject
[ She says somberly, taking the seat. No, it's... mm. ]

Oi! Good job over there!
no subject
Yeah, don't worry about it.
no subject
If you say so. If you need help keeping watch though, let me know. I'm happy to help out.
no subject
You're the one with all the...dimensions and stuff, right?]
no subject
[ To the dimension question if it was asked out loud, he does nod! But looks kind of sheepish. "Not really but also yes" to that one too. ]

afternoon
That's a pretty interesting device. What's it for?
no subject
It's mostly something you can use to talk to people over long distances. Even if they're in another country halfway around the world, you can just contact them with this if they have something similar and talk to 'em about whatever.
[He flicks it a little bit; the display changes, just a bunch of buttons lighting up on the surface of it.]
You can also use it to send written messages and stuff. And take pictures, kind of like that thing Zelda was waving around the other day.
no subject
[It'd be really handy where he's from too, sure, but at least his world is pretty small.]

morning
Good morning, Jake. [Duma is toddling ever-present at her feet, and she waves as she approaches.] Have you been up long?
no subject
[...Thanks, Jake.]
Keeping an eye on things, you know?
no subject
I see. Thank you for watching over us. You weren't all by yourself the whole night, were you? [rhetorical question she's already got a PRETTY GOOD GODDAMN GUESS AS TO THE ANSWER] I've no doubt there would be company if you asked for it.
no subject
[emmeryn please have mercy on him he's doing his best]
It's okay, though, I don't really mind.
