Week 2.

WEEK 2. The new week begins with new surroundings. The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason. Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way. From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there. Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important... Well done, that was a pretty intense first battle, huh?

[ She takes the ball in hand, examining it curiously, and is surprised by how light it feels. Does it really have that big pink thing in it... ]

It really was quite... it was more than I expected.

[ But there will probably have to be many battles from here, won't there...? ]

It was kind of fun, wasn't it? I've been doing some training with Roc and the other Pokémon I caught and it's been interesting so far.

Honestly, I cannot say that I like it entirely but...

[ Oh, Miphanus is floating down to her! It's coated in some saliva, but she smiles all the same, petting them as they get more level with her. ]

It is something we must do, probably.

Who knows, maybe it'll grow on you. Even if it doesn't, the wild Pokémon usually don't attack. Honestly, I was kind of surprised to see your new one try to eat Miphanus.

[ she nods and, ]

I think it might've been a culmination of two things - Miphanus did try to go investigate them as they were fishing.

Oh yeah, that might explain it. I kinda feel bad for them... But I'm sure you'll give 'em plenty of food, yeah?

Oh yes, of course!

[ They are hers now, right? Or something like that?! But she looks at the ball and smiles a bit more ]

Got any ideas for what to call them?

[ . . . Oh, crap. ]

I only came up with Miphanus's name today. I ... I will need to consult my books even for their species.

Yeah, I've gone through the books I brought with me and I don't remember seeing that one. I think I'd remember a pink Pokémon with a long tongue.

[He also is not the sort to sit and study for very long so like. don't expect much from him.]

I'm sure you'll come up with something eventually.

Particularly one so large... I wonder, they must be uncommon or they would have been noted as a travel hazard, like those Duskull?

[ The ones she saw with Eustace... ]

Maybe they're pretty rare.

What's a Duskull?

They're a ghost like Pokemon I encountered the other day with Eustace! The book I found labeled them as a potential threat in the night, but the ones we found seemed as bland as every other one.

[fatalstrikes]

Oh yeah, I remember reading about Ghost-types... That's pretty cool. Shame I didn't get to see 'em... Hey, if you find any more, let me know, okay?

[He is absolutely Here for ghosts, holy shit.]

Are you that interested in ghosts, Yuri?

[ That said, she will! If she sees more! ]

Definitely. We ran into a few on a haunted ship awhile back. It was pretty fun to see how scared everyone got.

You aren't at all afraid of ghosts?

Nope. You can beat 'em up just like any other monster, so why would I be afraid of them?

Well, they can disappear and teleport, so I guess that's a little different. But with enough hits they'll go down same as anything else.

I do hope those spirits could rest afterwards...

But yes, should I encounter more ghost types, I shall be certain to tell you.

I think we did some good for those trapped on that ship.

[It's a long story, but he sounds confident in that, at least.]

Thanks. I look forward to it. I've gotta have at least a few spooky stories to tell the others when I get home if I'm dealing with ghosts, after all.

If you are so confident in your ability to tell scary stories, maybe that would be good to share at our current camp?

Sure, I wouldn't mind it. You're going to have to pretend I didn't tell you anything about the ghosts, though. My best scary story involves the haunted ship.
