Week 1.

WEEK 1. As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning. Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim. It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being. However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes... Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good. Yeah, I kinda get it. I'm originally from the Empire, and the Lower Quarter's still home in a way, but it's been a long time since I've been back there.

[...well, okay, he was back there to save Estelle, but like. It wasn't exactly a fun trip.]

I've been traveling for awhile, getting to see more of Terca Lumireis and getting roped into all sorts of crazy things. I ended up joining a guild, so going back to the Empire's sort of out of the question.

You like it better like that? As part of your guild thing.

Definitely. Brave Vesperia's given me a lot more freedom. We came up with the rules and everything ourselves, and while there's still guild laws to follow, it's a lot less strict than the Empire. I've got plenty of issues with how the Empire runs things, so this is definitely better.

Vesperia, huh. That's something to do with...what, night? Stars?

Yeah, good guess. Brave Vesperia's the brightest star in the night sky.

...Where I'm from, at least. Kinda weird to think even the night sky could be different, though.

I didn't get a good look at it last night; I should probably do that once it's dark.

[Shopping earlier was pretty fun and Yuri's changed into the red outfit, though he's got the shirt unbuttoned down his chest because of course he does?? Of course he does.

Anyway, when it gets dark he wanders off to find Jake, just as promised. Roc's following him as always, and she doesn't seem bothered by being out all day.

It doesn't take long to find Jake just outside the Pokémon Center and Yuri holds up a hand in greeting.]

Hey. Good to see you didn't forget our date.

[...he is not sure if you always wear your shirts like that or if this is just TITS OUT FOR STUPID DATE, what the hell are you doing

because if it's that first one you are real fucking shy about getting dressed in front of people for someone who runs around with their shirt open]

I'm not the sort of guy that stands people up.

Good to hear. C'mon, let's see if we can find a good spot a little further out.

[He'll head toward the outskirts of the city, assuming Jake's following.]

There are roads leading out of this place that look pretty clear, at least for a little while. The view might be better out there, less lights and stuff.

[Not like there are a lot of lights going on here anyway...]

That's what I was thinking. The lights aren't that bad here, at least.

[Let's see... Here? Does this seem like a good spot?]

So what sort of stuff are you going to be looking for? This Brave Vesperia thing?

[Sounds good! Yuri's just going to sit on the ground, then.]

Yeah. I only recognize a few constellations, but Estelle could probably pick them all out.

Estelle - is that your girlfriend or something?

She's just a good friend. She's one of the people I've been travelling with for awhile, she's a real bookworm and she knows a lot about this sort of thing.

[Gestures to the night sky.]

I don't know a lot about this sort of thing, but I know a bunch of the constellations and stuff. It's good to see familiar shit when you're a good distance from where you started, you know?

Yeah. It's kinda nice that it's always constant, no matter where you go.

Except here, I guess. I'm not seeing Brave Vesperia.

[Honestly, he doesn't know why either of them expected otherwise, but...]

I'm not seeing anything familiar, either. There are a bunch that really distinctive, like Orion and the Ursas, but I'm not seeing 'em.

Guess we really are in a different world.

[The Pokémon and the weird cult-like group made that pretty clear already, but he's been so focused on just moving forward that he hasn't really sat down and thought about it.

...It's really not something he wants to think about.]

I wonder if all the constellations here are based on Pokémon...
