Week 9.
WEEK 9 The one thing Team Galactic seems to have done right in this world is perfecting teleportation technology. The device Maylene gave Rey will get all of you back to Eterna City easily; from there, it's a matter of very briefly stocking up on supplies on Sunday before you move westward, away from the massive, imposing form of Mount Coronet and into the deep shadows of Eterna Forest. During your brief stay in Eterna City, it's likely that you'll notice a few things have changed, as far as both the people and the Pokémon go; this holds true as you make your preparations and disappear into the forest on Monday. It's heartening, maybe, to know that once again your actions seem to have made a difference; meanwhile, the trip to Lake Verity looks to be a long one, but it isn't entirely insurmountable. The forest itself is large and dark, covered high overhead with a thick canopy of trees; the Pokémon here are plentiful, which likely cuts down on any inherent creepiness to the place - whether that's a good or a bad thing depends entirely on your point of view. Either way, it's going to be quite the adventure trying to make your way through; here's hoping that your luck continues to hold over the coming week... Later, she and her trio of Pokemon can be found at the grassy area to the east of the ancient statue. Mareep is by her side, looking slightly more alert than before, and Torchic and Gible and facing down each other while Morag stand with her arms crossed, watching sternly.]

[The duo leap at each other, spewing fire and violet light from their mouths. It's a spar, so neither of them are attacking with the intent to seriously injure- until Gible stomps his feet, causing a swirling cloud of dust to swell around Torchic. Gible learned Sand Tomb!]
...What? When did you learn how to do that-
[Morag is cut off by a distressed cry from Torchic as the sand pelts her, but the cry quickly turns to a growl of determination as a white light erupts from within the Sand Tomb. Torchic bursts out of the cloud- but she's not a Torchic anymore.
Morag slowly raises a hand.] That's... enough for now, you two.

For the most part, Jake is just glad to be somewhere that's both far away from Lake Acuity and not absolutely frigid; he's still keyed-up, but he's being a little less aggravated than he was last night - his hand's still bandaged up pretty well, but it doesn't look like anything's broken and so he's just going to deal with it as it goes. He's definitely going to be stocking up on medical supplies before we all leave tomorrow, though, he does not like the idea of being in the woods with something like this going on.
That said, he can be found in a couple of places today; he's back at Gardenia's gym in the morning, just kind of wandering around through the plants and letting Kandža play with some of the really overgrown flowers and vines. She doesn't seem to know what she's doing with them, mind, but whatever it is she's trying to accomplish, she's doing it at an acceptable clip.
He's sort of half-watching her, half-not; he tends to seem really off in his head when he's in here, and this really isn't an exception. Maybe it's for different reasons today, maybe it's not; who knows, really.
Outside of that, though, he can be found outside the statue to the east of town, just kind of studying it; if he's joined, he's got all of one question, really.]
So. Time, space, all of creation, whatever the actual fuck the fourth thing he's probably got does - which one do you think this is, and how bad do you think Cyrus is gonna kick our asses with it?

[Compared to how he'd been going about things, Ignis actually broke his usual habit from there; though he still offered a cooking lesson or two to anyone who seemed interested, mostly he began to take an interest in the brief conversations the city's population were capable of as he wandered the city. He answered questions politely, engaging in kind to evaluate the inhabitants' shifting state of mind.]
[Nearer to evening he'd be around the edge of the city as he had been in Snowpoint; back to training, focused and intent on his team as usual.]
[...But eventually he'd be back in the Pokemon Center with the four of them for the night, sitting off to the side with his coat draped over a chair.]

As she does, setting it down perhaps a little hard on the seat next to her in frustration, the question of "what's wrong with the sheikah slate" is answered in the form of... well. If you're there, you might be confused to see a decently sized Pokemon pull itself out of the screen of what's basically a Nintendo Switch.

By Monday, however, he's gotten bored from just puttering around the Pokemon Center and his Pokemon have become decidedly restless...even Nin seems to be a bit ready to battle.
Still, he shouldn't get too active, so instead of training intensely with his Pokemon like he normally does, Sena opts to instead sit at the base of the statue outside town, letting Monta take command of his team. Naturally, under Monta's instruction, things are more...straightforward, to say the least. The fact that local Pokemon within the cities are actually willing to pick fights with his team helps.
So watching his team of three go off in a triple battle against a trio of Magnemite is actually pretty interesting. Since Monta's the only one able to actually deal proper damage to them, Vee and Nin have taken more supportive roles this time around, and watching them slowly coordinate their attacks around Monta's overbearing fires to corral the Magnemite is giving him some new ideas. At the very least, it's proving to be a pretty entertaining show.]

[Later, in the mart, Sena is buying small treats for his team to congratulate them on training so well by themselves. Since he's so intent on trying to figure out what they'd all like, he doesn't notice Nin wandering off until it's too late, and when he goes looking for her he finds her tangled up in a length of small pink ribbon. How...?
He's not sure whether she was just messing around with it or genuinely wanted to play with it, but it's the first time he's actually seen her actively interact with something that isn't a Pokemon battle, so...]

That said, Ventus decided that he'd be heading over to the mart midday in order to stock up...when he's looking for stuff he manages to accidentally knock quite a few bagged treats over. Though right afterwards, he's helping sweep up in return.
Around the afternoon, the blond can be seen nearby one of the ponds. He looks like he's having some of his Pokemon practicing moves just for fun. It's Klefki's turn looks like, as Munna and Togepi are just watching (with the two munching on berries.) ]
Alright Aurora, use Crafty Shield!
[ The Klefki successfully produces a nice looking shield and Ventus pumps a fist in the air excitedly and then he has an idea, looking at a rock nearby. ]
Good job! Now, how a--
[ Kind of cut off because Klefki was happily flying around at the praise and just flies into Ventus for a hug. He's a little surprised so he kind of fell over onto the grass holding onto the Pokemon, blinking and then Togepi makes a loud happy noise before coming over to sit on him.
...He'll just laugh a little as Munna comes on over too by Ventus' feet. ]
Okay, okay I guess practice time is over for you guys. Did you want a hug too, Aster?
[ Togepi raised her small hands and he sat up before picking her also into his arms. At that, she began to glow and before Ventus knew it, she had turned into something different.
Luckily, Togetic doesn't weigh that much, but the surprise makes him fall over from his sitting position. ]

Michael's still visibly enthused by the transportation out of snow hell, and he's making the most of the city while he's here, before they inevitably return to the hardships of the road. For one thing, it's definitely time to return to training. He's got his whole team out as they walk around the city and its outskirts to find wild Pokemon, and he's actively working on finding multiple Pokemon to fight at once, just so nobody gets left out.
There's a lot of Quaver confusing the foes with his screaming, so that Lena and Jane Doe can pick them off. This screaming only sometimes sounds like the shriek of a Spiritomb. This is progress.
In the afternoon, you can also catch him in the Pokemon Center. His Pokemon are a little worn out from the day's training, but he lingers well after they're healed. It looks like he's bothering Nurse Joy for some human first-aid pointers. She gives him a little first-aid kit they keep beneath the counter, and shows him how to treat some common, basic injuries. Jane Doe is hovering over his shoulder to watch as well.
About partway through the explanations, which have been dull and practical, she suddenly ventures:]
...so where did you come from?
Oh! [Michael's a little surprised at the personal question.] I came here from hell, originally.
[...Joy was probably going to be confused by anything he said, but this kind of exchange cannot be helping.
That night, you can catch him outside, once again having some kind of ghostly conference. Michael isn't known for...stopping. Eterna being a larger city, there's an awful lot more ghosts here than there were in Snowpoint.

Early in the morning after his usual cup of coffee, Eustace travels a little ways from the campsite to do some exercising in preparation for the day. He does some stretches and whatnot, which eventually leads to pull-ups on a sturdy, low-hanging tree branch. A rather new face joins him on the branch, horns sparking with electricity as it keeps pace with Eustace. Looks like Eustace has a new friend! Some might have caught a glimpse or two of the Elekid back during the stay in Snowpoint, but it's very much out and about today. When they're finished, Eustace pulls a battery out of his pack and hands it over to the Elekid to...eat from? Like...a treat?
And speaking of trees... Eustace comes across a rather interesting one beyond the path's treeline while the group is on the road. What catches Eustace's eye is that it appears to be a cherry tree? He hasn't really seen anything like this yet. He peers at it for a moment...before a flicker of realization crosses his expression.
Before he can say anything to Rose on his shoulder though, she's already reaching up there with a tendril to pluck a cherry down. Either she caught wind of her trainer's observations or she just really wanted to check it out too.
Turns out the cherries are alive. The little Cherubi wiggles under Rose's clutches, crying as a defense mechanism to be let go. Eustace is...bemused by all of this, if anything.]
Terrible camouflage choice.
[Eustace it's not like the Cherubi can help what it looks like?! Either way, Rose ends up putting it back so it can rejoin its friends...and stop annoying the hell out of Eustace with its crying.
Later in the day, Eustace decides to play fetch with Pup. He hangs a decent distance back from the group and throws a ball ahead for Pup to retrieve. They've been doing this daily, but for the first time Pup's actually showing a bit of interest in the game rather than mechanically bringing it back simply because his trainer ordered him to. He goes after that ball with a bit of determination!
Eustace can't help but crack a smile at Pup's progress, affectionately ruffling the Poochyena's fur when he brings the ball back.]
...Good boy.
[When the going gets especially rough, at least dogs make things better.]

During the day, Rey is simply walking along, battling the odd wild Pokemon with her own team - there's one point, however, where she's trying something new.]
Alright Golett, don't attack any more. I think that should be enough.
[There's a Ralts standing on the path, looking exhausted but refusing to collapse. The little Pokemon had put up an excellent fight, despite being clearly outmatched by Golett (much to the pride of its trainer!), and Rey has decided she'd like to capture it.
...hopefully she'll do it right, because she hasn't actually caught anything the traditional way yet. But she's got a pokeball, she's weakened the wild Pokemon, and now she just has to throw the ball at it. Simple, right?]
Okay, here we go....
[Her throw is accurate and powerful - perhaps a bit too powerful, as the ball smacks the Ralts straight in the head and knocks it over.]
Ah, sorry! Sorry, that was too hard...!!
[Fortunately the throw works perfectly - with a flash, Rey has a fourth Pokemon. Freezing for a moment and staring at the pokeball nestled in the grass, it isn't long before Rey turns to Golett and lets out a whoop, pumping the air with her fists.]
We did it!
[And if you happen to be walking past, you'll see Golett enthusiastically pumping its fists as well, in a perfect imitation of its delighted trainer.]

Duma gets to trot beside her again, too, and he happily squawks back at every squeak and makes big jumps over every bump in the ground that his bitty limbs can't walk over. Maybe she'd have an easier time hiking if she put him away in his Pokéball, too, but she coos fondly at every dumb noise he makes. Come the afternoon, though—]

[oh my god she turns around for a single goddamn second to go through her backpack and this little shit just DISAPPEARS???]

[please he almost behaved for like an entire couple hours she can't live like this—no okay she's actually pretty alarmed. Her backpack gets forgotten on the ground when she stands and starts hastening off the path.
Not especially far off, just a little hidden through the undergrowth, a certain darling dragonsaur is in the middle of repeatedly booping a Ralts, who is almost expressing something like mild annoyance, with his entire face. Pushing the Ralts in some direction is just sort of a side effect of Duma being The Way That He Is, but it's sure all happening.
One thing eventually leads to another and in the evening, once everyone's settling into camp for the night, Emmeryn's sitting down with her Nidoran and new Ralts both on one side of her lap, the former curled up and sleeping, while Duma crawls on and off of the other side again and again in an attempt to make himself comfortable. All, like, one hundred pounds of him is doing that.]
...We are going to have to rearrange some things.

Camilla keeps up her training throughout the day, commanding her Pokemon and happily watching as they seem to take...well, some form of enthusiasm in taking down their opponents. Some last longer and fare better than others; Beruka seems to display a surprising amount of endurance despite her low level, which manages to impress Camilla quite a bit. Altena's usually more apt to try and give up so she can get back to sleep, but even she seems a touch more competitive with Haar and Arion today. It's nice.
It's sometime in the afternoon while Camilla heals up her squadron for another round of terrorizing the local population, when a small rustle from the grass is heard by Camilla and Haar, before the others look over with intrigue to see a small Pokemon crawling out from the grass. It's definitely injured and seems to have lost most of it's leafy cloak in the process, which prompts Camilla to go down and pick the little one up.]
You look like you've seen the worst day of your life, little one...
[Before Camilla has a proper chance to heal it, however, it seems like some Starly have hopped onto a branch nearby and just start looking down at Camilla and her team...but especially at the little Burmy, which despite itself, seems to stiffen just a bit. Camilla regards them with a bit of a smile.]
Oh, are you the ones who decided to attack this little creature? You must want to finish what you started, then...I'm afraid I simply can't allow that.
[Camilla holds the little creature closer to herself, before using her free hand to give a sharp whistle to her squadron.]
Playtime, darlings! Don't let a single one of them escape unscathed, hm?
[And...honestly, they're actually doing pretty well against them! If there's one thing Camilla's Pokemon have learned, it's how to give no quarter to their opponents. While they do that, Camilla's just going to rummage through her bag for some healing items for the little one...
By the time the evening rolls around, though, Camilla's calmed significantly and seems to be reading a field guide on her new little partner, who's happily resting up nearby.]
So, you get cold easily, don't you... [Camilla looks to the creature, who's kind of using Arion's blanket as a bit of a psuedo cloak for the time being while they recover. They perk up a bit at that, though.] Well, once you're better, we can happily get you a nice, warm cloak of leaves in order to keep you safe. You don't have to worry--
[Of course, Camilla was about to grab some granola bar to eat and put the wrapper in a bag, but before she knows it, the creature practically shoots up and takes the wrapper out of her hands to wrap up in. Camilla's. Not sure how to feel about that?]
...Sweetie, I can go gather some materials for it now if you--wait, get back here!
[Yeah, that's. If you look like you've got trash nearby, you're likely going to be solicited by a tiny bagworm in need of perfect garbage to add to it's collection, all while Camilla tries to catch up to the scurrying little demon.]

[ And later on, Noctis takes a break by the ponds. He's got everyone out, including the elusive Relicanth. He looks pretty content, just hanging out and watching his companions play. And Lepidia seems to have taken to Rosy--the Happiny--quite well, because she keeps grooming her. ]

The gates open hard, but they do open, and the doors leading into the place will loudly announce your presence as they open -in contrast to the outer gates those open far easier, if anything perhaps too easily? They seem to swing open just before you touch them, as though the mansion itself was expecting you and is inviting you inside, the motion of the doors is slow, accompanied by the loud groaning sound of rusted hinges being made to do work they haven't done in a while.
The foyer just beyond those doors is grand - or at least, there's the implication that it used to be grand once, high ceilings and chandeliers and furniture that looks like it was designed for form over function but has fallen into such disrepair that it likely serves neither purpose; the staircases leading up to a second floor are wide and sweeping, culminating in an area that looks over the foyer itself before vanishing off down a hallway to the left, out of sight; there's likewise another area to your immediate left, on the first floor off the foyer itself.
Feel free to look around while you're here; pick an area and explore if you see fit to do so. Perhaps you'll receive something for your persistence.]

[Once that's finished, he goes back to the business of training his Pokemon. The forest is full of wild Pokemon; it's the perfect place, especially when the wild ones are finally approaching them for battles. Well. Maybe for battles. That's what Michael is interpreting it as, at least.
That evening, he sits at the group's campsite with his Pokemon sprawled out around him, idly weaving a small crown out of some fallen leaves and twigs to place onto Lena's head.]

a big friend.
granted, it's not that much taller than keith himself, but tropius is still substantially larger than blue and red. however, keith looks pretty determined to capture the tropius, judging by the pokeball in his hand. ]
Okay... Grass is weak to fire, so Red, you're up!
[ and while red takes a little bit of a beating, it seems as though the houndour was successful in weakening the wild tropius. keith uses this opportunity to throw a pokeball--and he's got good aim, too!--it wiggles around... and then it stops. his eyes widen, and he looks down at red, spraying a potion on him before picking his little pupper up and holding him in the air. ]
You did it! Nice job, Red!
[ red responds by affectionately licking keith's cheek. how sweet!
in the evening, keith can be seen with his new tropius near the campsite, idly chilling at his side. blue and red are on top of the tropius' back, curled up and sleeping away. keith's leaning on the fruit pokemon, too, reading his guidebook again. they all look really comfortable. ]

[...Well, at least he approves. Hlača wanders over, though, for the sake of aggressively nudging him with his entire face, which is usually a sign that he wants to be picked up? Jake just sort of tips his head a little at this and...well, complies. It's more like picking up an exhausted six-year-old than an exhausted toddler now, but you know what, he can. manage.
This is fine.
That evening, Jake can be found with a few more of his Pokémon out; Lobanja is looking particularly resplendent today, given that she's got a necklace on courtesy of Rin - it's...well, it's bling of some sort, it's got the Pokémon currency sign on it instead of a dollar sign but it's very much bling, and Lobanja thankfully has the patience of a saint and is currently wearing the damn thing with...well, not pride, but general tolerance for Jake's bullshit.
So Lobanja is lying beside him and otherwise he's got Cvetka out with him, and the Shellos is just kind of calmly sitting in his lap again and staring at him like a goddamn weirdo.]
...Don't you want to do anything?
[Cvetka just tilts her head a bit to the side at that.]

He has to build one now, and seeing multiple others in their group successfully capture Pokemon only reinforces that notion. So when his headaches start to lessen in frequency that afternoon, he starts looking around with his Pokemon, who all actually seem eager to battle in some degree.
And then he's left wondering if maybe he still has a headache. There's something constantly appearing and disappearing among the trees, fast enough that sometimes Sena swears he could see two or three of them at once, and it's not until sees his own Pokemon jumping at it and missing that he realizes that this is no hallucination.
Sena's never seen a Pokemon move this fast before, though, so he's left bewildered by just how blistering this speed is. Even Vee's weird quick running attack doesn't quite scratch it, and there's no possible way that Nin can keep up. Meanwhile, Monta...]
Monta, wait, calm down!
[Is getting increasingly frustrated. Spitting fire at where the thing disappears doesn't work, nor does leaping to scratch it. It's not until a fit of anger has him lashing out with a Mach Punch do they have any luck...maybe a little too much luck. Somehow, Monta catches the thing mid-leap, slamming it in the gut with a fierce punch and sending it barreling into a tree with an impact that makes Sena wince in sympathy.]
Gah...g-good work, I guess...
[Triumphant monkey noises, especially when Sena fumbles for and lobs a ball at the dazed creature.
In the evening, Sena finally lets the creature out of its ball at the campsite to treat it...and quickly finds out that the secret to this one's speed isn't simply fast movement - it's flat out teleportation. Treatment isn't easy until he figures that out, but the campsite is treated to a somewhat amusing game of tag until then. Whether Sena ends up stumbling over someone else's campsite or manages to snatch the little thing out of thin air somehow (predicting its possible movements with his intuition gets easier the more he chases it, thankfully), the two end up causing...quite a lot of chaos. Sorry.
Finally, when Sena can get it to actually sit down and introduce it to his team...]

So now that wild Pokemon are a bit more... not aggressive, but aware, he's spending most of the morning trying to get his Budew, Swinub, and Solosis up to snuff. Admittedly, this isn't as easy as he would have hoped, given that said Budew and said Swinub are less than... brave. In fact, while the Budew is at least making an attempt, he ends up spending most of the afternoon trying to figure out where his Swinub got off to after getting spooked by a Gastly...
...well, it could've been worse. The Swinub would have been in the shame corner, but by dinnertime, after he's found his small pig, he's also come into possession of some d e l i c i o u s m u s h r o o m s. So that's good, but... he's kind of looking at them as he sets down to try and cook them up...]
